The Princess

The leader of the Guardians living in the Littles' House. She is the mother of Lazlo.

     Lazlo 

Lazlo

The Princess' son, and a powerful wizard. He is a Guardian of the Lost.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was rendered homeless when his and his mother's kingdom was destroyed by careless magic-users.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: He is a Guardian of the Lost and a wizard. He leads the other magic-users in the rescue Henry from the Mayor at the end of Guardians of the Lost, and also has his own Big Damn Heroes moment earlier on when he saves Henry, Bramble and Mark from the terrors of the forest when they are returning from rescuing Mark from the Reeds' house.

     Herbert 

Herbert

A wizard who resides in the Littles' House. He is a member of the Guardians of the Lost.

     Professor Pintail 
A wizard who resides in the Littles' House. He is a member of the Guardians of the Lost.

     Miss Nottamoth 
A wizard who resides in the Littles' House. She is a member of the Guardians of the Lost.

     Miss Hardear 
A witch who resides in the Littles' House. She is a member of the Guardians of the Lost.

     Christian Ottershaw 

Christian Ottershaw

A permanent resident of the Littles' House. He was originally a choirboy who was sent forward in time after looking into the Time Twister.

     Lucy Little

A permanent resident of the Littles' House.

     The Cockatoo 

Cockatoo

A cockatoo who was once a girl named Flora.

Shaidi

     Twig 

Twig

One of the Shaidi who serves in the Littles' House. Her husband was killed by the Mayor's Cat, making her afraid of and prejudiced against all cats.
  • Fantastic Racism: She is very prejudiced against cats, because her husband Moss was killed by one. This is the reason behind her dislike of Henry.
  • Last of Her Kind: She and her family are the last of the Shaidi.

     Thistle 
Twig's father.
  • Fantastic Racism: He is very prejudiced against cats, because her husband Moss was killed by one. This is the reason behind her dislike of Henry.
  • Last of Her Kind: He and his family are the last of the Shaidi.

     Nettle and Nut 
Eldest children of Twig. They are twins and like getting up to mischief.
  • Fantastic Racism: They are very prejudiced against cats, because their father was killed by one.
  • Last of Her Kind: They and their family are the last of the Shaidi.

     Mint 
One of Twig's youngest children.
  • Fantastic Racism: He is very prejudiced against cats, like the rest of his family.
  • Last of Her Kind: He and his family are the last of the Shaidi.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: He poisons Henry's food with magic dust during Henry's first night in the House, resulting in Henry collapsing into unconsciousness.

     Bramble 
One of Twig's youngest children. She is very kind and gentle. She befriends Henry when he is at the Littles' House.
  • Big Damn Heroes: She accompanies Henry and Enkidu on their mission to rescue Markendaya from the Reed's house in Timeless, and proves to be an invaluable asset. It is only because of her that their group manages to travel through the forest safely.
  • Fantastic Racism: She is prejudiced against cats until hearing the story of how Henry adopted Enkidu.
  • Last of Her Kind: She and her family are the last of the Shaidi.
  • Nice Girl: She is very sweet and kind, especially in comparison to the rest of her family.

     Markendaya 

Markendaya

A boy of Indian descent who accidentally went forward in time through the Time Twister. He is staying at the Littles' House so that he can start growing again after being frozen in time.
  • Heroic BSoD: Is in one at the start of the story, as he believes that his mother died of illness. He refuses to take his growing-potion and leave the House because of it.
  • Missing Child: He disappears through time while visiting his ill mother in a hospital. When he finally emerges from the Twister he discovers that three months have passed and that his mother isn't 'with [them]' anymore. Markendaya assumes that his mother is dead because of this, and sinks into a Heroic BSoD.

     Marigold 

Marigold

A girl originally from the early 19th century. She is a guest at the Littles' House.
  • Cheerful Child: She is always very cheerful, and nothing seems to get her down for long.
  • Missing Child: She disappeared from her time while playing hide-and-seek with her brother.

     Ankaret 

Ankaret

A red-headed girl who was originally from the World War II era. She is a talented pianist.
  • Break the Cutie: She had passed the Despair Event Horizon by the time she was found by Pearl and taken from the orphanage to the Littles' House.
  • Broken Bird: Her entire family was killed in a bombing raid during World War II; she was sent forward in time immediately afterward and had to deal with being ridiculed and bullied by the people in the orphanage she was made to live in. It became so bad that she was in deep despair when she was finally found by Pearl and sent to the Littles' House.
  • Character Tic: She is constantly drumming her fingers as if trying to play the keys on a piano.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Had to see her mother, father and baby sister killed during a bombing raid in World War II. Straight afterward she was sent forward in time, she was taken to live in a home for difficult children, where she was ridiculed and bullied until she was driven to despair.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: At first is very suspicious and cold toward Henry, but thaws toward him as the story goes along.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Her family's death was this for her.
  • Heroic BSoD: Is in one when she meets Henry in the Littles' House.
  • Hidden Depths: At first Ankaret seems grumpy and impatient and not very likable. Then Henry learns about her troubled past and is surprised to find out that she's a very gifted pianist.
  • Orphanage of Fear: Before coming to the Littles' House she lived a very unhappy life in an orphanage.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her parents and little sister died during World War II, victims of a bombing raid.
  • Starting a New Life: Chooses to go back to Ocean View with Henry to start a new and happier second life.

     Jack Silk 

Jack Silk

A gifted carpenter who is confined to his house because of a curse. He is the father of Sadie and uncle to Gabriel Silk.

     Sadie Silk 
Daughter of Jack Silk and cousin to Gabriel. She is a bright girl and helps Gabriel retrieve the lost cloak.

     Fred Bean 
Father of Hetty Bean. He is friends with Jack Silk and briefly helps Gabriel on his quest to regain the Red King's cloak.

     Cecily Fork 

Cecily Fork

An evil sorceress who is after the Red King's cloak.

     Septimus Fork 

Septimus Fork

Cecily's younger son.

     False Albert 

Amos Arkwright

An alchemist who steals the Red King's cloak from Gabriel by pretending to be Albert Blackstaff.
