Breakfast Cult features a dozen "Detentioneers", premade sample characters that can be used as player characters or non-player characters as needed. Additional Detentioneers appear in each expansion book.
Alec Alhazen
- Science Hero: Alec is not only an occult science expert, he's also an great at explaining it in a clear, understandable way. He has the ability to give people better rolls through helping people understand the science behind the magic and getting them excited about it.
Laura Bailey
- Magical Girl Genre Deconstruction: Laura is a Magical Girl who has gotten sick of selfless heroism and is now a burnt out delinquent. She will step up to do the right thing when she absolutely has to, but otherwise she'd prefer to make trouble and vandalize the school.
Isaac Carver
- Doctor Whomage: Isaac is a charismatic UK teen well-known for his gadgets and bizarre inventions, but he's easily bored and his attention tends to wander.
Maynard Clayhorn
- Country Mouse: Maynard is pretty uncomfortable with the cutting edge occult technology around the academy, and tends to keep to the woods whenever he's not needed for tests investigating his rare condition.
Dexter Das
- For Science!: Dexter is an excellent alchemist and researcher, but his disregard for rules and his own safety is so strong that he actually gets bonuses for doing things in the most reckless way possible.
- Expelled from Every Other School: Dexter's entry lists four prestigious academies that he has been expelled from, and implies that there are many more.
Riley Dendron
- New Transfer Student: Riley is a late transfer, and her social life is still pretty rooted in her old school and her dozens of friends who she is constantly texting.
Mary-Susan Fleetwood
- Genki Girl: Mary-Susan loves dragging people on grand adventures, and is obsessed with playing matchmaker with her classmates and making her fantasy couples happen in real life.
Feixue Guo
- Idol Singer: Feixue is a famous C-Pop star, with the added quirk that she can make her singing supernaturally compelling.
Fong Ho
- Villain Protagonist: Fong is the vice president of the student council, and he's determined to claim the presidency for himself through whatever nefarious means available.
- The Chessmaster: Fong loves cooking up overly complicated schemes and gets bonuses to declare secret contingency plans.
Gai Iwata
- Cowardly Lion: Gai is styling a cool rocker aesthetic for himself, but needs time to hype himself up before he actually has the confidence to rock out or play the hero in front of anyone.
Teresa Mai Kurita-Steiner
- Lady of War: Teresa has military training and access to advanced hardware but she makes sure to play up her fashionista persona first and foremost, making sure everyone knows she is the most stylish person in school.
Madoka Mawaru
- Beware the Nice Ones: Madoka has seemingly endless energy and a strong competitive streak, and even gains a bonus when running people down in her wheelchair.
