The Library Dream

    Node

White Rabbit Node

A mysterious woman found in the Library Dream who wishes to help the protagonist.

Recurring Characters

    Dinah

Cheshire Cat Dinah

  • Beneath the Mask: Though she usually plays the role of The Gadfly, talking to her in the ending and after Ending G reveals her to be a lot sadder than she lets on.
  • Cat Girl: Appears as a humanoid feline version of the Cheshire cat.
  • Cats Are Mean: Among other things, she throws the protagonist into a Jump Scare on false pretenses in the Foggy Park. She's also the final boss... although it's not really her fault.
  • Disc-One Final Boss:
    • Going through the white door in the library causes a scene where she talks to the protagonist before throwing them into a final boss battle with her. However, in pretty much every path that goes beyond the starter endings, there's much more to fight after her, including an outright Boss Rush in Ending G.
    • Especially the case in End E, where if you decide to kill Alice while your SEN is at 0, instead of being easily killed, she will get mad at Grimm and go into a rant before assuming their Outer form and fight Grimm as the Final Boss of that ending
  • The Gadfly: Is constantly teasing the protagonist throughout their journey.
  • Mysterious Purple: Purple-haired, purple-themed, and all around mysterious about her background yet knowledgeable, if cryptic about Wonderland's own mysteries.
  • Undying Loyalty: To the original Alice.

    Vernai

Rabbit Knight Vernai

A wandering rabbit-man knight with black fur. Based on the fairytale of the Black Rabbit of Inaba.

  • Big Damn Heroes: It's possible for him to save the protagonist after Jabberwock kidnaps him.
  • Hates Their Parent: And with fairly good reason, considering it's implied that his father was the Prayer Master.
  • I Owe You My Life: Saving his life in Carroll River has him promise to aid the protagonist, and he will appear as a bonus summon for Jubjub and Bandersnatch.
  • Only Sane Man: One of the most reasonable people in Wonderland.
  • Righteous Rabbit: One of the more heroic characters in the game.
  • You Killed My Father: Seeks vengeance on Jabberwock for her murdering his family... though not particularly his father...

    Pumpkin-O

Knight Pumpkin-O

A jovial pumpkin-headed knight.

  • Expy: As a sleepy, Fun Personified knight who is one of the nicest people in the game, he's one to Siegward and Siegemeyer of Catarina.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Admits that he knows Rette likely doesn't love him anymore, and doesn't care. He's just happy to see her smile when he brings food to her.
  • Nice Guy: An absolute sweetheart.
  • Sleepy Head: He is usually found sleeping somewhere and you have to wake him up to able talk to him. When he's wake up, he is apologize for sleeping. If your SEN is 0, he goes straight to being a Heavy Sleeper since no matter what you do, you can't wake him up.

Lutwidge Town

    Mary

Bunny Girl Mary

A cheerful prostitute the player encounters in Lutwidge Town offering information on Alice.

  • Gutted Like a Fish: If she isn't captured for the dungeon or Jack isn't killed by Progression 4, she'll be eviscerated by Jack the Ripper who lures her there with a letter from Detective Holmes promising information.
  • Hooker with a Heart of Gold: Downplayed. Mary extorts the protagonist for sex claiming to have information about Alice that she doesn't, but in a rare event she's shown to be upset about Jack the Ripper killing prostitutes who she helped raise and worries about her lost younger sister.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Downplayed compared to other characters like Vernai, Jack, or Florence, but it's definitely there.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Though 'lovable' is relative, Mary is obsessed with sex.
  • Playboy Bunny: Clearly based off of this.
  • The Tease: Aside from deceiving Grimm, she also has a fair bit of good-natured teasing.
  • White Bunny: White and pale grey fur. While she's certainly not innocent in many senses, she's also not particularly malevolent.

    Detective Holmes

Detective Holmes / Jack the Ripper

A Wolf Man detective hunting down the serial killer Jack the Ripper.

  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: The film "Isolation Room's Neighbor" shows him having a dynamic like this with Edith.
  • A Day in the Limelight: While he's mostly a side character, one of the films on show in Queensland, Isolation Room's Neighbor, is from his perspective and deals with his backstory with Edith Liddell.
  • Expy: Of Father Gascoigne. Both are characters who driven mad by the unfortunate fate of their loved ones. Both even have shotguns as their side weapon.
  • False Friend: Apparently worked with Mary on the investigations, and leaves a polite letter asking her to meet him in Upper Lutwidge-where he kills her.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: Played With. While he has a pathological obsession with hating and murdering prostitutes, Edith Liddell is his Morality Pet and he claims to not have any problem with women in general in the movie in Queensland.
  • Noble Wolf: A heroic wolf detective. Or so he's introduced as.
  • Serial Killer: He claims to be hunting down one of these. In actuality, his job is actually a cover for his real identify: Jack the Ripper.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: Uses the Manslayer's Shotgun in his boss fight. You can get one yourself by transposing his soul or getting it from the Chaos Dungeon.
  • Split Personality: Talking to Dr. Jekyll reveals that Jack the Ripper is actually an split personality of Sherlock Holmes himself. Presumably due to Dr. Jekyll's experiments, he became even more mentally disturbed as a result.
  • Tranquil Fury: Equipping Edith's Ring in the Jack the Ripper fight causes him to have a reaction like this—a significant contrast to his unhinged ranting in the same battle.
Holmes/Jack: Ah, so that's how it is... Another reason to not let you live.
  • Turns Red: Reduce his HP by 50% and after a brief rant, he'll become much more dangerous.
  • White Wolves Are Special: A wolf with white fur.
  • Wolf Man: A detective who happens to be a wolf person.

    Doctor Blackwell

Doctor Elizabeth Blackwell

A Plague Doctor found in Lutwidge Town and the Ripon Cathedral.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Extremely close with Nightingale, and one of the only female characters who never has consensual sex with Grimm.
  • Expy: Something of one to Iosefka from Bloodborne, a doctor who also provides the Player Character with healing blood vials.
  • Immortality Seeker: If she isn't killed or raped, she will become fascinated by the Church of the Serpent God's Blood Magic and the idea of immortality and eternal youth, to the point where if the protagonist goes to the basement to unlock the door to Bill's room she will turn into a demonbeast and attack him.
  • I Will Find You: Judging from the letter you find from her, she seems to have spent a lot of her life before being transported to Wonderland searching for Nightingale.
  • Only Sane Man: A human being transported to Wonderland. This tragically doesn't last once she enters the Ripon Cathedral.
  • Plague Doctor: Aside from the mask, she also is searching to find a way to save the patients in Florence's hospital.
  • Sanity Slippage: After a certain amount of progression, she will go to the Ripon Cathedral and becomes increasingly obsessed with blood and immortality.

Ripon Cathedral

    Bill

Lizard Bill

The Oracle of the Serpent God, who dwells in Ripon Cathedral.

  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: At first glance, he looks like a girl, though this illusion gets quickly shattered when his name immediately comes up.
  • Gayngst: Terrified that the protagonist will hate him upon confessing his feelings. When fighting Bill in Ending F/G, Bill breaks down and calls themself a faggot and says that the protagonist should hate them.
  • Gay Option: The only Covenant the player can make who is the same gender as him.
  • Lovable Lizard: Little Bit Beastly with lizardlike features, and an absolute sweetheart.
  • Shipper on Deck: Encourages the protagonist to have sex with the Serpent God.
  • Stepford Smiler: While Bill is perpetually cheerful, the fact that they keep the smile on even while breaking down due to being rejected and their breakdown in Ending F/G imply that there's a lot going on under there.
  • Video Game Cruelty Punishment: Being cruel to Bill, whether rape, murder, or rejection, will cause the Serpent God to be distinctly unhappy.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: Doesn't mind dressing up as a girl at all.

    The Serpent God

The Serpent God

The god worshipped in Ripon Cathedral, who is summoned once Bill's covenant is maxed out and the protagonist has sex with Bill.

Mental Ward

    Tweedledee and Tweedledum

Tweedledee and Tweedledum

Twins who live in the Mental Ward.

  • Abusive Parents: Both sisters mention an abusive father.
  • Bisexual Love Triangle: Tweedledee is interested in both the protagonist and her sister. Tweedledum, not so much.
  • Does Not Like Men: Tweedledum, though, to be fair to her, she is a lesbian whose sister-lover keeps trying to coax her into having sex with a man.
  • If I Can't Have You…: If the player has sex with Tweedledee and Tweedledum catches them, Tweedledum will go mad, resulting in either her killing her sister or her sister killing her in self-defense.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: They're extremely similar to Hansel and Gretel from the first game in appearance, leaving aside the fact that they're both girls.
  • Twincest: They're identical twins in blood and lovers.

Pool of Bloody Tears & Spore Forest

    Dodo

Foolish Bird Dodo

An extremely wise and insightful bird who lives in the Pool of Bloody Tears.
  • Butt-Monkey: In addition to her status as The Ditz, it's possible to feed her to the Duchess, she's constantly mocked by Shisha, and when fighting her she will try to run away but trips and falls.
  • The Ditz: Extremely quirky and quite foolish.
  • Forgotten Fallen Friend: She invokes this if she sees Shisha turn into a demonbeast, saying "it would be better to forget it all". The next time you talk to her, she doesn't have any idea who you're talking about every time you bring up her name.
  • Feigning Intelligence: Constantly. She'll spout some bits of trivia, but that's not the same as being street smart or wise.
  • Genki Girl: She's amazingly upbeat for an Outer One playing the role of her.
  • Perfectly Cromulent Word: Prone to making these up.
  • Statuesque Stunner: It's hard to see with the RPG maker sprites, but in her sex scenes one can see that she's significantly taller than Grimm.
  • Video Game Dashing: Her covenant gives you an ability called Run like Dodo. While this allows you to more easily navigate or backtrack while outrunning most enemies, it's especially useful in the Ship Graveyard to avoid God's Odd Fish by dashing past it. Since this boss is the most tankiest enemy you can find near endgame, with a reward that many wouldn't consider worth it, it's a good idea to use this ability.

    Shisha

Caterpillar Shisha

A cranky, lethargic, drug-addicted caterpillar.
  • Mercy Kill: Requests this if she overdoses. Fail to uphold her request and she becomes a Demonbeast.
  • Tempting Fate: Entering a Covenant with her allows you to smoke alongside her for some free levels. While this can be done safely four times, at the 5th time, she will overdose and the player is forced to kill her.

The Endless Tea Party

    Hatta

Hatter Hatta

One of the trio at the Endless Tea Party.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: To the extreme.
  • Funny Background Event: In one of Haigha's events she's visible half-offscreen with a deeply strained expression.
  • Immortality: Killing her results in a scene where she keeps coming back from the dead, and her corpse waves at the protagonist after Jubjub kills her.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: A few lines from her and Haigha suggest that they're meant to guard Jubjub. They don't even try to keep the protagonist from getting in.
  • A Spot Of Tea: States that her 'regular patrons' are tea and mercury. In a scene after meeting her in Winterbell in the third DLC, she even drinks tea during sex!
  • Talkative Loon: Admits to it herself.
Hatta: For instance, suppose it were 9 o'clock, just time to retire. You'd only have to spend a moment listening to the Hatter's words and bam! You hear the birds chirp! It's already morning!
  • Third-Person Person: Refers to herself exclusively as 'the Hatter'.

    Haigha

March Hare Haigha

One of the trio at the Endless Tea Party.

    Dormouse

Sleepy Rat Dormouse

One of the trio at the Endless Tea Party.

Duchess' Mansion

    Duchess Margaret of Tyrol

Duchess Margaret 'Rette' of Tyrol

The gluttonous and energetic Duchess.
  • Big Fun: Brings much of the comedy in the game, and while not to the extent of Wolris, she's notably larger than many of the other heroines.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Her mind is practically in another world.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Attempts to eat Grimm, and the player can choose to feed her Dodo.
  • Infinity -1 Sword: Her covenant is one of the best early-game options due to her granting the player a bonus action, which becomes important once the player has reach the recommended statlines to take on the endgame. The only drawback, however, is that it reduces speed by a whopping 50%.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: And with No Indoor Voice, too.
  • Offing the Offspring: At low SEN, the pig she's introduced eating who she refers to as her 'boy' is a baby. She's also pictured in the painting of her and Pumpkin-O holding a baby.
  • Spoof Aesop: Like her source character, often comes up with bizarre 'morals' to everything she says.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Very fond of pepper, and requires the player to give her multiple Unseen Pepper items.
  • Villainous Glutton: While she's generally well-disposed once the player's soothed her rage, she's still a cannibal.

Red Castle Frissel

    Queen of Hearts

Queen of Hearts Lorina

The arrogant, impetuous Queen of Hearts who reigns from Red Castle Frissel. Very possibly also Lorina Liddell.
  • Angst Coma: Out of all character you can imprisoned, she has a worst reaction of them all, having her suffer from breakdown while spending her life in perpetual coma
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Physically very small, but has a much bigger attitude.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Dialogue from various characters reveals that she implemented the Slaughterhouse and Mental Ward to control the population.
  • Mutually Exclusive Party Members: Variant example since you can't make a covenant with Griffy, however you can't have a covenant with Lorina and finish Griffy's story at same time, since progressing Griffy's story will result in her kill Lorina after driven crazy by Red Queen's song. To have both of them alive, you have to let Griffy story's unfinished and your last chance to do so is in Queensland where you must refuse to embrace her if you talk to her.

    Griffy

Knight of Diamonds Griffy

Beach of Grief

    Meryphilia (SPOILERS

"Miranda"/Meryphilia, the Corpse-Eating Demon

Amazingly, in spite of what happened in the first game, Miranda miraculously ends up in the Beach of Grief for some reason. However, something seems to be off about her...

For information involving Miranda in the first game, see here.

  • Attractive Zombie: For a corpse-eater, she maintains' Miranda's original appearance quite well.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves Grimm from the Three Nightmares of Wonderland alongside Hein in End F/G.
  • Combat Sadomasochist: Another main difference between her and Miranda is that she apparently gets way too excited to fight, regardless of whether she wins or not.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Even though the later corpse-eater enemies all have the Requiem buff due to Florence's experiments with Star Fluid, Meryphilia doesn't have it for some reason.
  • Immortality: Cannot die, no matter what. DLC 3 reveals that the corpse-eaters originated from Florence's experiments with Star Fluid to try to save as many people as she could. Unfortunately, it worked a bit too well, and as a result, some corpse-eaters, including Meryphilia, have begun to roam around Wonderland.
  • Meaningful Rename: To show how she is much more different, she calls herself Meryphilia at times in contrast to Miranda. Meryphilia was also the titular heroine of the short story from Brian McNaughton's The Throne of Bones, which also features ghouls who absorb someone's identify by eating their flesh.
  • Our Ghouls Are Creepier: Called corpse-eaters, they were made from Florence's experiments involving Star Fluid, and eating corpse results in them becoming whoever that person was, with Meryphilia being one of those.
  • Piñata Enemy: She happens to be a very lucrative enemy to farm souls out of if Grimm is capable of defeating her.
  • Same Character, But Different: For all intents and purposes, she's Miranda all in name. That being said, she's significantly more of a Combat Sadomasochist compared to her previous self.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Just like Miranda, she is this when you fight her. She is the only boss that lack any offensive skills to be used against you, meaning that most of her attack is just her basic attack and nothing else, making her quite simple compare to other bosses. Of course, her being simple doesn't make her any less dangerous, since she still is a Lightning Bruiser even among other bosses note . Combined with her ability to counter attack, critical hit, ignored defense, and her ultimate skill Execution Verdict that slows you down to crawl, and that all she needs to defeat you more than other bosses who have a lot of skills in their arsenal.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Her only attack is a basic attack. Said attack also ignores defense and deals critical damage, meaning that she can defeat you just by spamming her basic attack until you are defeated.
  • You Are Who You Eat: According to Lorina, corpse-eaters who eat a corpse become whoever that person was. Because she ate the corpse of Miranda, aside from some memory issues, she's virtually identical to Miranda in every way.
  • You Need a Breath Mint: One of Grimm's response to him being kissed by her is that her breath smells terrible.

    Mocky

Mock Turtle

Oysters' Rotted Sea

    Cheeky Oyster

Cheeky Oyster / Zoa, Princess of R'lyeh

The only living oyster in the Oysters' Rotted Sea.
  • Asshole Victim: It's possible for Wolris to devour her if Jubjub isn't taken care of before Progression 10, but considering that she essentially devastated Billingsgate, it's hard to feel bad for her.
  • Big Sister Bully: A lot of lines from her insult Kuti.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Physically small and young-looking, and bratty to the point it's in her character title.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Responsible for the state of the Billingsgate Fish Market area.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Introduced as a cheeky, bratty comic relief character. Following her questline starts with her using a Baleful Polymorph to turn people into fish and ends with her ordering the death of Wolris. Fighting her also reveals that she's knowingly an Eldritch Abomination and the direct daughter of Cthulhu.

    Wolris

Deep Sea Predator Wolris

A gluttonous predator who lives in the Oysters' Rotted Sea.
  • Big Beautiful Woman
  • The Ditz: Not quite to Dodo's extent, but...
  • Gratuitous Russian: Peppers her speech with Russian phrases, and throws in some stereotypical comments about 'capitalist pigs'.
  • Husky Russkie: Considerably larger and heavier than all the other heroines, a Stone Wall when fought at 0 SEN or in Ending F/G, and stereotypically Russian.
  • Implied Love Interest: She was clearly close to the Carpenter and won't form a Covenant with the protagonist until she learns of his death.
  • Kill It Through Its Stomach: She will suffer from this if you fight her after she eating oysters, complaining how agonizing her stomach is after depleting some of her HP before oysters tore her stomach open, killing her.
  • Villainous Glutton: Downplayed on the villainous level-she likes eating, and she eats Funny Animals, but the most prominent of the oysters in the game is an Asshole Victim.

    Kuti

Kuti, Princess of the Deep Sea

The titular character of the Princess of the Deep Sea DLC.

Winterbell

    Florence

Head Doctor Florence Nightingale

  • Ambiguously Gay: Based on a historical figure who was very probably queer, has an extremely close relationship with Blackwell, and is one of the few female characters who can never have consensual sex with Grimm.
  • Broken Bird
  • Determinator: Utterly determined to save as many patients as she can.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Should you give her Blackwell's letter, she will be at peace and available as a party member for The Grand Guignol's fight.
  • Noble Wolf: A humanoid wolf, and one of the most noble characters in the game for wanting to save people.
  • Stone Wall: Her second phase is this compared to her first one since her Domain starts with your attack and defense stats cut to -100% while reversing healing to damage, making you unable to scratch her, on top of healing her HP every turn. However, her only attack is healing you, which can be negated by equipping the Abhorrent Coat, meaning her actual offensive capability is non-existent despite debuffing your defense. The fight comes down to figuring out a way to deal damage to her without using your stats

    Carnacki

Ghost Finder Carnacki

A knight found in Winterbell.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Should you ensure he's safe throughout his journey to Winterbell and talk to him as he's dying in Winterbell's throne room, he will be available as a party member for The Grand Guignol's fight.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he's full of himself and refuses to believe that the protagonist could achieve anything on his own, he also shows genuine worry for him and regularly gives him sedatives and prescription meds.
  • Miles Gloriosus: Constantly boasting about his successes in searching for the supernatural.

    Sho

Queen of Dissolution Sho

An intelligent shoggoth dwelling in the Mountains of Madness.

    Gerda

Snow Girl Gerda

A kind, blonde little girl who lugs around a rifle while looking for someone named Kai.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Should you talk to her every time you encounter her, keep her safe from Sho, kill "Kai" before she finds him, and finally talk to her afterwards, she will be available as a party member for The Grand Guignol's fight.

    Leiden

White Lion Leiden

The head of the Savage Fang Troop. A brutal dictator fighting for the crown of Winterbell.
  • Amazonian Beauty: A well-muscled, towering woman wielding twin axes which contrasts her calm countenance.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Her ideas about destroying Winterbell and making a world where only the strong survive came about after the White Queen abandoned her throne.
  • Foil: To Unis, in just about every way. Leiden is a barbaric warrior who fights with axes and seeks to take over Winterbell to completely destroy it, while Unis is a rapier-wielding fencer who wants to see Winterbell become (her idea of) a paradise. Leiden is cool-headed and takes the role of a Cool Big Sis to the protagonist, becoming very close with him; Unis acts the Knight in Shining Armor at first but reveals herself to be a Psychopathic Womanchild with a hot temper who only tolerates the protagonist enough to have him kill Leiden for her before betraying him. Even their battles work like this: Unis has a tricky fight where she focuses on evasion and illusions with a domain that makes the protagonist unable to hit her, while Leiden's battle forbids any usage of any techniques in favor of just beating the hell out of each other.
  • Order Versus Chaos: The Chaos to Unis' Order.
  • Social Darwinist
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's tall.
  • Undying Loyalty: Used to have this to the White Queen.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Her boss fight and the weapon you get from her work like this, as her domain prevent you from using technique and forcing you to fight her with brute force, while her weapon has high damage and able to stun but unable to deal critical damage.

    Unis

White Unicorn Unis

The head of the Order of the Pure Horn. A zealot fighting for the crown of Winterbell.
  • Ambiguously Gay: She talks about building 'a paradise of lilies' and part of her Motive Rant involves her being specifically furious that the queen she loved fell in love with a man.
  • Catchphrase: "All who agree, salute!"
  • Does Not Like Men: Exaggerated. Unis's goal is to kill every man in Winterbell.
  • Foil: To Leiden, in just about every way.
  • Hypocrite: While she claims to support women, she immediately begins insulting Mabel as soon as she sees she's opposed to her. (Though she did seem to have genuine Undying Loyalty for the White Queen.)
  • I Want My Mommy!: Calls out for 'mommy and daddy' after being defeated by Mabel and having her horn broken.
  • Order Versus Chaos: The Order to Leiden's Chaos.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: After being defeated by Mabel she begins mumbling incoherently about her mommy and daddy, and while betraying the protagonist she refers to his 'gross germs'.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Killed her parents after catching them in a Primal Scene.
  • Straw Feminist
  • We Used to Be Friends: Her soul indicates that she used to be extremely close with Leiden before her exile.
