Erica Strange
Erica Strange
Played by: Erin Karpluk
- Ambiguously Jewish: Averted. We get to see Erica's Jewish heritage a number of times. We journey back to her Bat Mitzvah, her father is a rabbi, and she talks about her observance of Yom Kippur. On the other hand after she faints while holding the baby boy during a bris she informs her rabbi father that she finds the Jewish practice of ritual circumcision abhorrent.
- Brainy Brunette: Has a masters in English Literature.
- Broken Ace: One of her biggest issues is that she was The Ace as a kid, but as time went on her potential fizzled out.
- Genki Girl: Comes across as this. Erica constantly tries to shrug off her misfortunes with a smile. She’s not very successfull.
- Plot Allergy: She has severe nut allergies, which landed her in the hospital in the very first episode.
- Trauma Conga Line: Life has not been easy on Erica.
- Watching Troy Burn: When she says her final goodbye to Leo, she has to watch as the barn he is asleep in burns down, unable to do anything to save him.

Dr. Tom Wexlar
Played by: Michael Riley
- Trauma Conga Line: Before his therapy, Tom had lost his marriage, his daughter, and his job. He was ready to kill himself by the time Naadiah found him.
Leo Strange
Leo Strange
Played by: Devon Bostick
- The Heart: He was more than implied to be this of the Strange family and after his death, the family was split with Erica and her Dad more or less siding against her Mom and her sister. This arrangement eventually gets rocked with the news that her beloved father had cheated on her mother.
- Posthumous Character: Leo has been dead for nearly a decade before the series starts, but Erica getting to see him through her time traveling makes him one of the most important characters on the show.
- Double Standard: Male on Male. The revelation that Leo was raped by his frat brothers is not only treated seriously, but is even implied to be a contributing factor to his death.
Julianne Giacomelli
Julianne Giacomelli
Played by: Reagan Pasternak
- Alpha Bitch: Julianne seems like a grown up high school queen bee. She's gorgeous, accomplished, and loves to pick on those who are weaker than her.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Julianne starts off as a sneering bully, but by the end of the show she is one of Erica’s closest friends.
Judith Winters
Judith Winters
Played by: Vinessa Antoine

Josh Mac Intosh
Josh MacIntosh
Played by: Adam MacDonald
- Casanova Wannabe: Josh routinely tries to flirt with women other than Sam, with little to no success.
- Hate Sink: Josh is easily the most unlikable person on the show and has no redeeming qualities to speak of.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Josh is rude, controlling, and sexist. Even when it's revealed he has secretly been in love with Erica, it does nothing to improve his personality as an abrasive and egotistical jerk.
- Jerkass Woobie: Season four has Erica realize that for all his assholery, Josh has suffered for years due to his unrequited crush on her.

- Older Than He Looks: The Kai Erica spends the most time with appears 22, but he is inhabited by the mind of his 32-year-old self.
Jenny Zalen
Jenny Zalen
Played by: Paula Brancati
- Fun Personified: Jenny’s main role in the story is to show up and encourage Erica to party hard.
- Life of the Party: Jenny seems to live to party and takes risks. The negative of this for her is explored though.
- Stepford Smiler: It’s implied that Jennys ‘fun never stops’ personality is because she feels insecure about being inadequate if she’s not a risk-taker.
