"OhnoFireyyoulitmyfuse!"
BFDIA Rank: ??th, BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: ??th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-3), W.O.A.H. Bunch (BFDIA 4-9, BFDIA 11-), The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute (BFDIA 10), Team Ice Cube! (BFB 1-16), Just Not (TPOT 1-)
Voiced by: Michael Huang (BFDI, BFDIA 1-5), Satomi Hinatsu (BFB-present, BFDIA 6-present)
A quiet cartoon bomb with a very high-pitched voice. He panics easily and is prone to getting antsy, and he’s usually seen eating a banana and cake slice.
  • Ascended Extra: He first debuted in BFDI as a recurring character, in episodes 9, 11, 17, 18 and 22 (the first recommended character to appear in the series no less). He also had a shot to join the game but lost to David. He finally joins the game in BFDIA, and has been competing since.
  • Bag of Kidnapping: Has been kidnapped and put in a bag twice in BFDIA, first by Yellow Face in BFDIA 7 and by Fries in BFDIA 10.
  • Berserk Button: Whatever you do, don't take his banana, or he'll (figuratively) explode on you.
  • Best Friend: With Naily, as he's shown to be incredibly protective over her in BFB 1 and 11. They're so close, that when Naily asks if Bomby is okay with dying for the challenge in TPOT 4, he willingly lets her light his fuse.
  • Cartoon Bomb: His design is based off it.
  • Character Catchphrase: Whenever his fuse is ignited by Firey, he says "OhnoFireyyoulitmyfuse!"
  • The Chew Toy: His other teammates have taken advantage of his explosive tendencies to win a challenge on several occasions. Gelatin has attempted to do this numerous times in BFB and is always quickly shot down by the rest of Team Ice Cube.
  • Death Is Cheap: He'll panic when his fuse is lit or someone makes him explode, but as long as he's able to be recovered he doesn't care much about dying all that often.
  • Fruit of the Loon: Often holds a banana, but is never seen eating it. Taking it from him makes him angry, though.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Develops one in TPOT 2, where Book accidentally getting in his way causes him to rant about him knowing what he's doing, and Eraser knocking his team's stack over causes him to toss his banana in anger, followed by him kicking Eraser yards away.
  • Heroic Sacrifice:
    • Ignites his fuse in BFB 14 so that his explosion will launch the surviving members of Team Ice Cube back onto the surface and out of the lava flood.
    • Does it again in TPOT 9 to stop Pillow’s killing spree.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He acts like an Ungrateful Bastard to Black Hole after the latter saved his life twice, demanding a banana out of him, but he makes a good point about how, in this world, life is cheap, so preventing death doesn't amount to much.
  • Join or Die: Unwillingly joins W.O.A.H. Bunch after Coiny threatens to ignite him with Firey.
  • Motor Mouth: Has a tendency to talk really fast, such as saying his catchphrase near-incomprehensibly when his fuse is lit.
  • Nervous Wreck: Very cowardly and constantly panicking, as he is very afraid of his fuse being lit.
  • Nice Guy: Despite being quite a bit short tempered, he's pretty friendly in general..... unless you make him angry.
  • Out of Focus: Suffers this a lot in BFDIA and BFB. He didn't have much participation in the contests, occassionally serving as a way to get an explosion (or discussed as such).
  • The Quiet One: He doesn't speak most of the time due to his shyness (although he started to speak somewhat more as of BFB 12), Even Fries lampshaded his silence.
  • Running Gag: Can often be seen eating a slice of cake and a banana, and usually explodes at least once per episode. The latter gag stopped in BFB as his teammates did their best to prevent that.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The easily scared sensitive guy to Firey Jr.'s bold manly man.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Thanks to his debut, these gags are now possible. During BFDIA, the others exploited this for all it was worth.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: While Death Is Cheap in BFDI to begin with, Bomby is especially prone to this, as he explodes enough times to nearly be considered a Once per Episode gag.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Often holds a banana and cake slice.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: He's more concerned about how Black Hole destroyed his banana in BFB 11 when Flower knocks him off the staircase rather than how he prevented him from impacting the ground and exploding. At the very least, he's died so many times that he doesn't care about his life being saved anymore.

    Book
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/book_teamicon.png
"I'm a dictionary, and you'd better believe it!"
BFDIA Rank: ??th, BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: ??th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-4), FreeSmart (BFDIA 5-9), The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute (BFDIA 10), LRLD (BFDIA 11-), Team Bleh (BFB 1-16), Just Not (TPOT 1-)
Voiced by: Michael Huang
A hardcover book that functions as several things: a dictionary, a tips and tricks manual, and so forth. She starts off as a soft-spoken nerd and one of the more sensible members of Pencil’s alliance, but come BFB, her pent-up anger issues from Freesmart’s abuse come to a head and she develops an irrational grudge against Taco for supposedly abandoning Bleh.
  • Academic Alpha Bitch: She showed this starting from BFB 3. She bullies Taco out of belief that she abandoned her and shows a Lack of Empathy for Saw's "eight" condition and uses it to accuse her of abandonment. This led to her team hating her, and Ice Cube leaving her.
  • Berserk Button: Do not call her "well-read". After the events of "Why Would You Do This On a Swingset", Taco in general is a big sore spot for Book.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Don't call her "well-read", or Book will tear you up. Also after BFB 3, her hatred of Taco drags on.
  • Characterization Marches On: Her personality quickly devolved to having a scathing hatred of Taco after the events of BFB 3. This is later deconstructed when Gaty talks her down about her sudden change in personality.
Gaty: Yes! What is the matter with YOU! You've gone from being one of my most clear-headed friends to this irrational, aggressive, hot-headed- I don't recognize you anymore! Okay?
Book: Me and Ice Cube joined this team because we were tired of being mistreated. And here we are again getting abandoned, and who knows what else-
Gaty: (as she says "Taco", Book's expression changes) Taco. Taco. Taco! Taco. Taco, Taco, Taco. See, this is what I mean about you being irrational. Even if we WERE in a crisis, the proper response is NOT to vilify our allies.
  • Cool Big Sis: Before BFB 13, she is protective to the shyer Ice Cube and genuinely cares about her. It is revealed in BFB 14 that she did this because she thought Match and Pencil (along with her leadership at FreeSmart) were oppressive and harmful.
  • Cool People Rebel Against Authority: Leaves Team No-Name to form a new team after seeing the other members of Pencil's alliance do so.
  • The Ditz: As of BFB, unlike in BFDIA.
  • Endearingly Dorky: Quite nerdy and soft-spoken towards Pencil and Match in BFDIA, but this is dropped after IDFB.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: As of BFB, when referring to the cover title on her first two designs in season 1.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Her behavior towards Taco ends up alienating her from the rest of her teammates. Even after she realizes that the way she acted was wrong, they still don’t want anything to do with her, even Ice Cube.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: Book is many things - a dictionary, a BFDI tips and tricks guide, an HPHPRCC manual, etc.
  • Hate Sink: After BFB 3, Book's anti-Taco personality and ignorance to her team, and her overbearing attitude, especially to Ice Cube, made her become hated very quickly (to the point where some people were stating that she was one of the most hated characters period). Averted after BFB 13 where she recognised her mistake.
  • Heel Realization: When Gaty tells Book to look up herself in herself, she does, and her definition literally changes to "MEAN" before her eyes. It is then she realizes she is being irrational.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: After leaving Pencil's alliance in BFB for being too unhealthy, she also left her sanity and intelligence there.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Pushes Ice Cube and Taco away from a lava wave in BFB 14 to show that she has, in fact, started to change her ways.
  • Jack of All Trades: Functions as a dictionary, a journal, an HPHPRCC manual and an IDFB book of tips and tricks all in one.
  • Jerkass Ball: Places a firm grip on it after Taco goes missing and she ends up believing that she abandoned the team (but it could be more of an Idiot Ball at first until the end of BFB 3). After the third challenge, she regularly badmouths Taco and is much more aggressive, and her behavior only gets worse until Gaty manages to talk her out of it.
  • Nerdy Bully: She acts like this towards Taco, believing she abandoned her team and will take any chance to bring her down. Another factor is that she's intelligent and is a manual.
  • Nice Girl: At least before BFB. She was more sensible compared to Pencil and Match.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Of FreeSmart, Book and Ice Cube are the in-between to Bubble and Ruby's nice and Match and Pencil's mean, given that they can be nice, but can be hostile and unreasonable with others if pushed.
  • Not So Above It All: While she may be one of the kinder and more rational characters on the show, she ends up believing that Taco abandoned her teammates out of spite, solely because they completed the first challenge very slowly. After Taco is freed, Book begins to detest her for that very reason, even though it clearly isn’t true.
  • Rage Breaking Point: It’s very likely that she has pent-up anger issues from the torment she received from Pencil and Match back in BFDIA, and once she leaves FreeSmart and starts believing Taco abandoned Bleh, not only does she genuinely think she’s trying to protect herself and Ice Cube from more unhealthy behavior, she becomes a lot quicker to anger.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Finally forgoes her grudge against Taco in BFB 14 to launch her and Ice Cube out of the way of the rising lava at the cost of her life.
  • The Smart Girl: She's presented as geeky and knowledgeable, and often speaks in an advanced vocabulary.
  • Sudden Name Change: Goes from Dictionary in BFDI to Book in BFDIA.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: Was once the voice of reason for FreeSmart, now nothing but a bumbling, stubborn, and ignorant loony with red ink for Taco.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: After believing Taco abandoned the team, Book develops a massive hatred for her, constantly trash-talking her, jumping to conclusions more often, and having more emotional outbursts, a very far cry from her usual softspoken Nice Girl attitude. It's not until BFB 13 she starts seeing the error of her ways.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: In BFB 6, Taco let go and fell back to earth just to get the twinkle off of the moon. Book still sees this as counting as abandoning the team. Lampshaded by Lollipop in BFB 12.
Lollipop: I happen to know that this fishy friend of ours is the only reason we survived episode 6. It was because of her strategy.
  • You Are What You Hate: Wanted to be away from FreeSmart due to Pencil and Match being Jerkasses. Later on, she became just like them, and even worse.

    Donut
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/donut_teamicon.png
"I see hope, I see strength, I see ingenuity!"
BFDIA Rank: 22nd (Last), BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: ??th
Team: W.O.A.H. Bunch (BFDIA), Team Ice Cube! (BFB 1-16), Team8s (TPOT 1-)
Voiced by: Michael Huang
A donut filled with cherry jam (despite him having a hole). He’s quick to irritate and prone to yelling when angered, but he’s actually one of the more rational contestants.
  • Ambiguously Human: Errr... object. With him being able to be fused with Four like a number would and being referred to as a number through the whole ordeal, it is possible that he might not actually be an object.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Has his arms stolen by Yellow Face after ingesting a gumball that can remove limbs in TPOT 8.
  • Best Friend: With Barf Bag. He and Barf Bag essentially act as the Team Dad and Team Mom of Team Ice Cube! respectively, being the ones to keep their team in line, while both of them also hold mutual hatred for Lollipop (both taking to calling her "Lollipoop"), and in BFB 8, Donut rigs his quiz show to contain questions that only Barf Bag would know. The two are so close, that when Team Ice Cube! goes their separate ways in TPOT 1, Donut says that he's sticking by Barf Bag's side.
  • Big Good: He is one of the most heroic out of the cast. He motivates his team to win, is caring of people's safety, and even sacrificed himself to save Spongy from burning in BFB 14, which led to him dying in the lava.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: To start off, Donut has no actual means of eating food, or at least one that is properly known. Due to his lack of teeth, throat, or even a proper mouth (it's merely a hole), it is not clear if Donut can even eat. However, it is implied that Donut can survive without eating, due to it being said in the Character Guide that he can regenerate any lost jam within his body. Therefore, it could be possible that he uses his jam as an infinite food source, as he could use the jam within his body for food, regenerate more, and so on.
    • In TPOT 8, Donut claims he can't eat with his donut hole, but the other contestants force him to swallow one of Yellow Face's gumballs, which shows that he is somehow capable of eating.
  • Characterization Marches On: In BFDIA, he was little more than a Jerkass in a similar vein to Flower in Season 1. In BFB, he becomes much more friendly, being a Jerk with a Heart of Gold at worst and a full blown Nice Guy at best.
  • Chekhov's Gun: His second diary. Loser steals it in BFB 16 and it does not come up again until BFB 22 where it plays an important role in restoring Leafy and Firey's broken friendship
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: Originally looked a lot more cheerful, had icing and lacked arms. The latter is referenced when Yellow Face steals his arms after ingesting a gumball that can remove limbs in TPOT 8.
  • Genre Savvy: He notes that, in eliminations, whoever speaks last before the first votes are announced is usually safe, and speaks specifically to take advantage of this trend and save himself. Then Pin began to speak just as Two interrupted her, declaring her safe. Ironically, Donut was in the bottom two votes for his team when he brought this up.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: Not exactly hostile, since he only became the host because of Golf Ball’s plan to get rid of Four and X, who ended up getting sealed inside of him.
  • Jerkass Ball: Crushes 8-Ball to death in BFB 8 when he is eliminated. He also chops up Firey Speaker Box as revenge for chopping up his corpse in BFDIA.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While irritable and somewhat crabby, Donut is very considerate and respectful of others, such as when he shows distaste towards the others climbing Bell without her consent. This is more noticeable in BFB since he was eliminated early in BFDIA.
  • No Indoor Voice: Has a tendency to yell when upset.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Downplayed. Although his design does fit in with the rest of the cast, his hole acting as his mouth is certainly noticeable.
  • No Sense of Humor: Tends to not take others' jokes well, especially if they don't make any sense as seen when Tennis Ball and Golf Ball give each other shifty eyebrows to indicate the supposed innuendo in saying that Donut has the factor of Four within him.
  • Noodle Incident: What sort of horrifying things has he discovered about Bomby?
  • Power Incontinence: If he tries to resurrect someone Four-style, he ends up mutilating them.
  • Reality Warper: Nowhere near the extent of Four, but absorbing him still allows him to casually break most laws of physics. Firey's extraction of Four's essence renders him normal again.
  • Sealed Inside a Person-Shaped Can: Four and X get sealed inside him in BFB 6 after Golf Ball's devious plan to multiply Four by Donut succeeds. X actually escaped offscreen at the last minute, and Firey extracts Four's essence from Donut's body several episodes later.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: Has this dynamic with Gelatin, being the Straight Man to his Wise Guy.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He’s much less of a Jerkass in BFB. Best shown in BFB 3, when he tries to motivate his teammates to win the third challenge. Even though his team loses, he shows genuine concern for an injured Bomby and even brings him a first-aid kit with bandages.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: In addition to him taking a level in kindness, he becomes more cheerful & outgoing towards the others in BFB, although he still gets angered easily.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Slaps Pencil after she tells him to deal with being on a shorter team. Not just that, but he lights her on fire with Firey.

    Dora
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dora_teamicon.png
"Dadadadadadadadadada!"
BFDIA Rank: 21st, BFB Rank: 56th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA), Team Bleh (BFB 1-16)
Voiced by: Google Translate (BFDI, BFDIA, IDFB), Repeated "DA" Sound Effect (BFB-present)
A stick figure with brown hair. Dora is an "island-eater" who wishes to win Dream Island in order to consume it. In BFB she is revealed to be extremely powerful, but usually just stands around doing nothing due to being Out of Focus.
  • The Ace: Can run at bullet speed once she charges enough energy, crack open a jawbreaker with a single headbutt, survive lava completely unscathed and negotiate with Four.
  • Arch-Nemesis: She apparently tried to kill David several times.
  • Badass Adorable: Originally based off of a kids cartoon, has a cute, pleasing voice in BFB, and can survive lava and break open giant jawbreakers.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Her diet consists almost entirely of islands:
Dora: My name is Dora and I need the Island very badly because I feed on islands. Islands are my only food, [...]
  • Characterization Marches On: As episodes went by, she became less of a parody of Dora, and more of her own character. It got to the point where she was nothing like her other than hair color and name.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Dora may look like a weak player, but BFB reveals her much stronger side and has helped her team win, most notably in "Get to the Top in 500 Steps".
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In her earlier appearances, she actually spoke legible, if incredibly fast, Spanish and was a straight parody of Dora the Explorer. BFB would see her just speak in quick "da"s and develop into more of an enigmatic being with Story-Breaker Power.
  • Expy: Based on Dora the Explorer.
Puffball Speaker Box: Dora, why don't you go explore the TLC?
  • Graceful Loser: Unlike David, she accepts her elimination and doesn't run away.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Dora's pre-BFB dialogue was made of very fast Spanish, often accompanied by English subtitles running nearly as fast.
No importa, no me importa tu opinión. Lo voy a cantar de todos modos. Dice: "¡Islas, islas! Yum, yum yum! ¡Islas, islas! Chomp. ¡Islas! ¡Son tan deliciosas! ¡Dame islas ahora! ¡Dame! ¡Dame dame, dame! ¡Dame! ¡Islas! Yum! Islas. Glorp! Shlorp! ¡Engullir! Gloop! ¡Trago! Lala! Islas". ¿Entonces, qué te parece? No importa, no me importa tu opinión. "¡Islas, islas! Yum, yum yum! ¡Islas, islas! Chomp. ¡Islas! ¡Son tan deliciosas! ¡Dame islas ahora! ¡Dame! ¡Dame dame, dame! ¡Dame! ¡Islas! Yum! Islas. Glorp! Shlorp! ¡Engullir! Gloop! ¡Trago! Lala! Islas.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Exaggerated to insane extremes; she's capable of withstanding the heat of lava, can break open a giant jawbreaker with little effort, and can run so fast that she can knock others out of her way (given she has the time to charge up).
  • Line Boil: Done occasionally while she speaks.
  • Made of Iron: Somehow manages to survive running through an oven and swimming through molten lava-and completely undamaged!
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Not an inanimate object and animated slightly differently from the other characters.
  • Out of Focus: After BFB 2 she is relegated to a background character who almost never does anything of significance. She rarely speaks either, and none of her lines get subtitled until her elimination. Subverted only in BFB 11, where she does the challenge for her team (but still gets no dialogue).
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Whatever the hell she says most of the time, it's definitely in a manner that politely convinces Four to stop screwing around.
  • Stylistic Suck: Like David, she is crudely drawn. However, this doesn't stop her from being an adored character.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Styles her hair into one in BFB 14.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Islands are her only form of sustenance.
  • The Unintelligible: Not that one would even be remotely able to understand her original hyperspeed Spanish, but as of BFB her voice is just a bunch of Animal Crossing syllables.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: During BFDIA, she only lasted three episodes and only had one speaking role.

    Fries
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fries_teamicon.png
"Get digging reader, my tropes are probably underground."
BFDIA Rank: ??th, BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: 36th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-9, BFDIA 11-), Fries (BFDIA 10) Free Food (BFB 1-16), Are You Okay? (TPOT 1-)
Voiced by: Michael Huang
A box of french fries. He's typically in a bad mood and he's easily annoyed by his teammates' antics (particularly when they eat his fries).
  • Boomerang Bigot: In "Lots of Mud", after Tennis Ball questions if the now-featureless Pin heard his team's plan, Fries, himself an Animate Inanimate Object, dismisses her as being "just an object". He gets crushed by a wall of spikes for this remark.
  • Characterization Marches On: He was originally a cannibal who was always seen carrying around a box of fries with him. So far, this has never come up in BFDIA, although he did eat Spongy in episode 4.note
  • Charm Person: When he kidnapped Bomby in BFDIA 10, all he had to do was tell him to get digging and, eventually, he did. Needle refused to do the same until he placed a shovel in her hand as she was about to slap him.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: In the original BFDI he had had a B on the front of his box resembling the McDonald's golden arches. This was replaced in BFDIA with a pair of yellow stripes.
  • Hypocrite: Lambasts others (particularly Gelatin) for trying to eat his fries, but originally debuted carrying and eating a smaller packet of fries. Then again, he has stated that he will die if he runs out of fries for an extended period of time.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's a decent person if you can get past his grumpy attitude and is close friends with Puffball.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Has a lot of moments like this as although he's quite cantankerous, he does make decent points. For example he is indifferent towards Rocky defecting to W.O.A.H. Bunch, correctly pointing out that he was just dead weight.
  • Mad Libs Catch Phrase: "Get digging, (insert character here), the ingredients are probably underground".
  • No Sympathy: Calls Teardrop lazy for not spinning the prize wheel despite the fact that she was killed by poison in the previous episode.
  • Only Sane Man: In BFDIA 9, when he was sent to the hell world after being crushed by the compactor in the challenge, he was the only one unwilling to speak in a verbose robotic text-to-speech voice. Pencil flattens him for it.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite being rather uptight, he does have a close Odd Friendship with Puffball, even once standing up for her when Golf Ball makes a habit of excluding her from TPOT challenges after she went rogue in "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters".
  • Running Gag: The other contestants will constantly eat his fries, much to his annoyance.
    • Ironically, his original gag in BFDI was him eating fries himself.
  • Surrounded by Idiots:
    • In BFDIA, Fries still interacts with Gelatin, who is more laidback at the time.
    • Also when he got sent to the hell world and spoke normally, assuming the text-to-speech voices and verbose speech were by the others' choice.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: While still grumpy, he seems to be more positive and upbeat as BFB goes on, and this develops him from a Jerk with a Heart of Gold to a mere Nice Guy by the time TPOT started.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Has no problem slapping Book back in the premiere of BFDIA when he remarked that he couldn't stand her cover.

    Gelatin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gelatin_teamicon.png
"There isn't enough room up here! That's better."
BFDIA Rank: 14th, BFB Rank: 2nd
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-6, BFDIA 9-10), FreeSmart (BFDIA 7-8), Team Ice Cube! (BFB 1-16), Have Cots (BFB 17-24), Newbie Alliance (BFB 28)
Voiced by: Graham Taylor (BFDIA 1-5, BFB 1-23), Ian Woodside (BFB 24-present, BFDIA 6-present)
A green gelatinous specimen. He starts off being one of the more laid-back contestants before BFB establishes him as an immature Manchild Cloudcuckoolander with a weird affinity for forks.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Despite the many times Donut tells him to not use Bomby to win challenges, he continues to do so anyway.
  • The Alliance: Was in an alliance with Teardrop and Lollipop.
  • Bad Boss: When he decided to rebrand his steakhouse to a shadeshouse, he fumigated the restaraunt and turned most of the employees into fashionable eyewear.
  • Butt-Monkey: A lot of things go wrong for him, such as when he gets blamed for the things he’s did, getting zapped by Four, and getting scolded by Donut. Half the time, this is well-deserved for how much of a prick he is.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Develops a strange obsession with forks in BFB.
  • Combat Pragmatist: In BFB, he has a habit of trying to use Bomby to sabotage the challenges and make his team win. This strategy makes his team lose in BFB 3. Occasionally subverted, such as in BFB 9 and offscreen in 11, where he suggested using Bomby to do the challenge instead of for the usual foul play.
  • Deadpan Snarker: In earlier episodes of BFDIA. However, in BFDIA 5, he becomes more of a Ditzy Genius.
  • Ditzy Genius: Is able to make an antidote for poisoning and is the inventor of the freeze juice, but he is stupid enough to tie his legs with Firey twice and keeps shoving his teammates off Puffball when they are flying on her due to perceived space issues.
  • Fatal Flaw: His severe impulsiveness, he is very prone to doing things without thinking, such as pushing off his teammates and generally acting reckless and inconsiderate.
  • Flanderization: Originally was the sane genius who was nicer, but became a childish genius starting with BFDIA 5, and seems to have become more immature and uncaring as the show goes on.
  • Idiot Ball: In episode 5, he randomly ties his legs with Firey's twice.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Gelatin (a BFDIA newbie) became close-knit friends with Lollipop (a BFB newbie) and Teardrop (a BFDI veteran) due to their alliance.
  • Insufferable Imbecile: While he does have some moments of intelligence, he is mostly not the sharpest tool in the shed, and to make matters worse, he is an obnoxious and selfish Jerkass whose antics often get him in trouble.
  • It's All About Me: Gelatin can be pushy and selfish at times, and is prone to not hesitating to get scot-free from it, despite him causing it, best seen when he thinks exploding Bomby will help his team out. However, this has been toned down during the post-split episodes, yet he made Teardrop pop Bubble over her preferring him over Teardrop.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite his selfishness, he still cares about his teammates.
  • Kick the Dog: In BFB 18, he popped Bubble for nothing even after talking to her about the way she talks.
  • Lack of Empathy: Rarely shows concern for those who aren't his teammates or in his alliance, such as Flower. Often throws forks around which results in others' deaths.
  • Manchild: Becomes this in BFB. Donut questions why he acts like a six-year-old, to which Gelatin replies that he is six. He was either being sarcastic or telling the truth.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In BFB 30, Gelatin, out of anybody else, scolds Four for his sociopathic treatment towards his contestants, especially where he banished the eliminated contestants to. This is surprising considering that Gelatin himself is also immature and somewhat psychopathic, though not to the extent of Four.
  • Pet the Dog: He told Four that he'll stay on his show after Two arrives. Beforehand, he switched to Two's show.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: Has this dynamic with Donut, being the Wise Guy to his Straight Man.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: Starts off as calm and laid-back. Ends up becoming an immature weirdo by BFDIA 5 and develops an odd thing for forks by BFB.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Steak. He is also revealed to own a steakhouse in BFDIA 5a. In BFB 30, he reopens it as Gelatin and Flower's Steakhouse and Fashion store after Flower wins BFB.

"HOLY ROLY POLY CRAWLING IN GUACAMOLE!"
BFDIA Rank: ??th, BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: 28th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-4), W.O.A.H. Bunch (BFDIA 5-9, BFDIA 11-), The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute (BFDIA 10), BEEP (BFB 1-16), Just Not (TPOT 1-)

A nickel. Originally a sarcastic and snarky character like his Inanimate Insanity counterpart, in later seasons he became an energetic Large Ham who enjoys spurting out random gibberish for fun.

For tropes regarding his original depiction in Inanimate Insanity, see here.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In stark contrast to the Nickel on Inanimate Insanity, who is a cynical, uncaring Jerkass. This Nickel, however, is much nicer, less sarcastic (in BFB, he doesn’t seem to understand when it's being used), and is willing to get himself involved in his teammates’ weirdness. However, later episodes depict him being more similar to his II counterpart: snarky and uninterested in most things. This becomes clearer in "TWO OF THEM" where BFDI Nickel and II Nickel get into an argument with BFDI Nickel explaining that he's more genuine (usually via spouting gibberish) while II Nickel is far ruder.
  • Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head: In "It's a Monster", he called Match a "poo-poo face".
  • Deadpan Snarker: Originally, but this would disappear overtime. Being based off of II's Nickel, he inherited his sarcastic and angry personality, noting when Golf Ball creates a new Dream Island that he's usually upset that they share a team. Ironically, as his character shifted he would become outright blind to sarcasm.
  • Decomposite Character: "TWO OF THEM" claims that there were two Nickels, and according to Announcer, far more; after Nickel didn't get onto the original BFDI, the Announcer was afraid he was out to replace everybody, so as karma, he held auditions to replace Nickel with the current Nickel while the original escaped the LOL thanks to Nonexisty's help.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In BFDIA 7, he designs his team's new loser chamber as essentially a torture chamber for anybody that gets eliminated as punishment. When Spongey asks him what happens if he's eliminated, Nickel is briefly speechless indicating he didnt think of that possibility, before answering that if he screws up enough to get eliminated then he deserves the torment of the loser chamber.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: In his first appearance in Season 1, he lacked arms, but he got some to hold up a sign while available as a recommended contestant. By season 2, he's back to armless.
  • Expy: Is also a character on Inanimate Insanity.
  • Large Ham: In BFB. He has a tendency to spout gibberish rather loudly, which apparently is the only way he can express his indescribable thoughts.
  • Living Currency: A walking, talking coin, just like Coiny.
  • Money for Nothing: Being in proximity to Coiny can spawn thousands of dollars within seconds, but the only real use of money the contestants have during their time in BFDI is to bribe each other. Averted after the Announcer left the show, as Firey Speaker Box uses this trick to massively outpace the budget and get fancier props, tech and setpieces than ever to match.
  • Palette Swap: His asset during BFDI and BFDIA was the same as Coiny's, and his original personality with arms was intended to replace Coiny in BFDI. In BFB, however, he gains a new design to differentiate from him.
  • Reality Warper: If he gets too close to Coiny, they start warping space and creating counless amounts of money from nothing.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: In contrast to his Inanimate Insanity counterpart, who is a Deadpan Snarker to the max.
  • Sole Survivor: After Rocky's elimination, he becomes only BEEP member left in TPOT.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: His design for a new loser chamber is an outright torture chamber, full of crushers, chainsaws and pictures of Flower's face. This compared to the original TLC and LOL, which are just empty containers.

"Yeah, who? I wanna know."
BFDIA Rank: 18th, BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: 31st
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA), Free Food (BFB 1-16), Are You Okay? (TPOT 1-9)
Voiced by: Michael Huang
A furry pink ball that can fly (and in BFDIA, she can also make herself larger at will). She has an auto-tuned voice, and whenever she speaks, she changes colors. She’s generally friendly, but she has a selfish streak and is prone to succumbing to greed.
  • Auto-Tune: Her voice is heavily vocoded.
  • And Then John Was a Zombie: Was bitten by a zombified Pen in TPOT 9, becoming a zombie in the process and hasn't become normal since.
  • Berserk Button: Does not like being called Puffy. W.O.A.H. Bunch tries to abuse it in BFDIA 5d to blackmail her into carrying them to Yoyleland, but it doesn't work and she just revives Gelatin to get him to make them shut up.
Pencil: (feeling the personal speaker box Puffball won as a prize) Hey, it's so fuzzy!
    Puffball Speaker Box: Stop that!
Pencil: It even sounds like you, Puffy!
Puffball: Don't call me Puffy, but I'm not going to slap you, 'cause I'm nice.
Pencil: No, you're not gonna slap me because you don't have arms.
    Puffball: Whatever.
    • Also, do not harm her Speaker Box. She had Pin's limbs removed in revenge when Pin killed her Speaker Box on accident.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She is genuinely rather friendly most of the time, but in the heat of the moment she tends to turn much more aggressive, established after she sabotaged her team to get more prizes at Cake at Stake.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Pink, flashes rainbows when talking, can fly and says random things in a vocoded voice.
  • Everything's Better with Rainbows: She's capable of vomiting them. She also turns into every color of the rainbow whenever she speaks.
  • Fatal Flaw: Greed — she is very prone to losing her composure when introduced to the prospect of rewards. Downplayed a bit in BFB 9, where she hogs the cake slices that were meant for Foldy and Bell.
  • It's All About Me: Puffball will not miss an opportunity to indulge in greed even at her teammates' expense.
  • Jerkass Ball: She sabotages her team's chances of winning just so she can win the prize when they get put up for elimination. This scores her enough dislikes to be eliminated.
  • Killed Offscreen: She's eliminated in between the events of BFDIA 5 and IDFB 1 but it's never actually shown. It turns out to be a subversion though as she is not dead, just stuck in the TLC. Averted in full when BFDIA 6 did finally release.
  • Out of Focus: She does not get much screentime in BFB for unknown reasons. However, she regains her screentime in TPOT, as well as the last few episodes before the split.
  • Pet the Dog: She genuinely cares about her teammates and doesn't mind carrying them on her head as she flies. She also cared and loved her Speaker Box deeply if her rage towards Pin accidentally killing her Speaker Box was anything to go by.
  • Sadistic Choice: In TPOT 4, she uses Ice Cube as a Sacrificial Lamb to give Death P.A.C.T. Again the choice of either letting her die and win the challenge, or stick to their principle of preventing death and save Ice Cube at the cost of cutting their Funny Plant and losing the challenge.
  • Sizeshifter: Can enlarge herself enough to carry everyone for air transport. She seems to have either lost the ability or volition to do so as of TPOT 1.
    • However, starting from TPOT 5, she is shown with this ability once again.
  • Tempting Fate: She doesn't seem to realize that sabotaging your team at the last second for a prize will get you eliminated instead of getting a prize, as she spends the first part of the Cake at Stake dancing assured that she'll get a prize, flying into a rage once Firey wins the prize and she is eliminated.
  • Those Two Girls: In TPOT 7, after her own team told her and Golf Ball to take a break from the challenge, the two balls found that they're actually a pretty good duo in sabotaging other teams.

"I didn't go to Gem School!"
BFDIA Rank: ??th, BFB Rank: 13th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-4), FreeSmart (BFDIA 5-9), The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute (BFDIA 10), LRLD (BFDIA 11-), iance (BFB 1-16), Have Cots (BFB 17-20)
Voiced by: Michael Huang (BFDI, BFDIA 1-5), Cary Huang (IDFB-present, BFDIA 6-present)
A ruby gem. Hyper, ditzy, and very upbeat, but she can be a klutz who’s prone to making mistakes.
  • Big Eater: Is sometimes seen eating the prizes given out at Cake at Stake, given if the prizes are edible.
  • Camera Obscurer: Implied in IDFB episode "Welcome Back" to have done this every day for three years because she doesn't know what a lens cap is.
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Engages in this in BFDIA 7 by killing her alliance members out of the belief that it was a challenge and shows no regret for it.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Although adorable and cheerful, she can irritate people because of her actions. An example is when her (and Leafy's) bad singing annoyed Lollipop to insanity.
  • The Cutie: Very perky and sweet. She shows optimism to other contestants and enjoys playing with them.
  • The Ditz: More obvious than other members of Pencil's Alliance. She doesn't know what the word "around" means, and has found the need to study the times table.
  • Genki Girl: One of the liveliest characters on the show. A non-canon video even has Tennis Ball tell her to "lay off the sugar".
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Attempts to use her "9 Mohs Scale Hardness Point" to impale team BEEP, but Snowball tells her to never do that again, which she agrees to do.
  • The Leader: Starting from BFB, she's becoming more willing to create plans and take charge of a situation. Match and Pencil leaving may have contributed to this.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: She's part of a girl posse that can act rude to people, and she can act lazy and condescending to others, but she's very much a sweet and joyful character.
  • Nice Girl: One of the nicest contestants of the show. She's kind to her friends and unlike Pencil and Match, treats Ice Cube and Book well. In recent episodes, she is kind to Leafy, singing with her in the FreeSmart Van (although it tortures Lollipop), and wanted to help Bubble and Leafy get their friendship back.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Of FreeSmart, Ruby and Bubble are the nice to Match and Pencil's mean and Book and Ice Cube's in-between, as both are sweet girls that rarely have any moments of being mean to others.
  • No Sympathy: She didn't do anything to defend Bubble when Match and Pencil demoted her to a bember (and later a bemb).
    • She does this again in BFB 12, when Snowball kills Bubble for trying to forgive him.
Ruby: Well, those two are real.
      Flower: Yeah.
  • Prone to Tears: Definitely not as shy as most examples of this trope, but she’s very sensitive and bursts into tears when Pencil yells at her in BFDIA 5c.
  • Sixth Ranger: The fourth member in Pencil's Alliance. Downplayed in comparison to Book and Ice Cube, as she's a proper member of the alliance as opposed to the latter two being alternates.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The joyful girly girl to Flower's fowl tomboy.
  • Too Dumb to Live:
    • Jumps down the Yoyle Needy to catch the falling Pencil, citing that it's a quicker way to the ground than the staircase, and predictably shatters on impact.
    • In "Taste the Sweetness", there's a scene where she drinks VX.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Yoyleberries.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: BFDIA 9 reveals that Ruby's moments of crying over Pencil berating her were falsified just so she could garner sympathy out of Pencil.

    Yellow Face

"So yeah, BUY NOW!"
BFDIA Rank: 15th, BFB Rank: 16th-55th (Tied), TPOT Rank: ??th
Team: Team No Name (BFDIA 1-3), W.O.A.H. Bunch (BFDIA 4-9), Free Food (BFB 1-16), The S! (TPOT 1-)
Voiced by: Michael Huang
A poorly drawn face with a flair for the dramatic. Yellow Face has his own warehouse and is constantly advertising various products, sometimes directly to the audience. He also has a burning hatred for the color purple.
  • Acme Products: Yellow Face's Warehouse is full of almost anything, some of which he sells to his fellow contestants at his advertising.
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: After using his gumballs to steal limbs from both Ice Cube and Donut, Yellow Face steals prizes from the rest of his team and talks himself up in an arrogant manner after knocking Needle off of the balance beam, retaliating at Nickel for not giving him praise.
  • Ambiguously Evil: There are lots of hints that Yellow Face's ad business is more shady than it looks on the surface.
  • Ambiguously Related: He offers Nickel a 5 cent family discount on aerospace pillows, to which Needle says he might be adopted, but he later says that the people who voted for him to be eliminated won't get any family discounts, implying he also just gives them out to the people he likes.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Steals Ice Cube's legs and Donut's arms through feeding them gumballs in TPOT 7 and 8.
  • Ascended Extra: Initially a promoter in BFDI's occasional commercials but becomes a contestant in BFDIA — he wasn't even originally on the contestant poll until he started receiving masses of votes.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Yellow Face is a poorly drawn face known for spouting out ads at the most random of times, but he is still a poorly drawn face with tons of dangerous items at his disposal. He's also the only contestant that knows how to create Win Tokens, which would have made him all but untouchable in Cake at Stake eliminations, had Purple Face not stolen all of them at the last second, causing him to get the boot.
  • Character Catchphrase: "So yeah, BUY NOW!" (at the end of his ads) and "YAY!"
  • Compelling Voice: He likely has this ability to some extent, as in BFB 1 he got Foldy and Bell to join his team merely by telling them to do so, and in TPOT 8 he got a bunch of people to help him force Donut to swallow a gumball by calling out for their help.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: He does not care at all about whatever danger his products cause.
  • Curse: Apparently, his skeleton from that one time he died on command will curse anyone and anything that touches it.
  • Dead Alternate Counterpart: After Yellow Face dies on command in BFDIA 5e, he's revived with the HPRC, and the corpse of his previous incarnation is left in the desert. This is explored in TPOT 4, where his corpse has rotted after 10 years, leaving behind nothing but a skeleton that's capable of afflicting curses.
  • Driven to Suicide: Is capable of dying on command, something W.O.A.H. Bunch needs to do when he gets stuck in FreeSmart's glue trail.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He is willing to admit that his glue is awful and tells everyone to not buy it.
  • Expy: Possibly of various commercial salesmen like Billy Mays.
  • Fantastic Racism: "Oh my gosh, you do not know anything! You're... PURPLE!" This extends to other purple beings, kidnapping and killing Bomby when he was coated in purple paint and having a rivalry with the purple Lolipop. He seems fine with having Marker on his team in BFB however. Why this is the case is currently not explained.
  • Flanderization: Yellow Face was mostly a kind contestant regardless of how annoying he was. In modern episodes, Yellow Face's hatred for the color purple makes a return, which turns him into a Jerkass full of Fantastic Racism. Not just that, but his products became more and more dangerous and selfish. For example, his gumball products can take away limbs from the consumer, and refused to tell that until Ice Cube already ate it, transporting her legs to Yellow Face. He does this to Donut too, giving him his arms.
  • Invisible Anatomy: He sometimes gets access to this trope, which is bizarre given that no other armless character is able to do the same.
  • Large Ham: He's full of gusto, not at all helped by having No Indoor Voice.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: His outlines are much thinner and his speech animations are cruder, reminiscent of the style that would be used to animate Four and X come BFB in 2017.
    • His limbs that he stole from Ice Cube and Donut are the traditional asset limbs as opposed to being hand-drawn.
  • Organ Theft: Steals Ice Cube's legs in TPOT 7 and Donut's arms in TPOT 8 thanks to a special gumball fed to Yellow Face's victims that removes limbs.
  • Put on a Bus to Hell: His elimination in BFDIA 9 features him burning to death in acid and the fact that he isn't in the WTF in BFDIA 10 implies that no one is in any hurry to bring him back.
  • Reality Warper: He has the ability to summon advertisements and the products of said advertisements out of thin air.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He is indirectly responsible for Dream Island being stolen, as Leafy used his Box of Paper Slips product to buy it.
  • Stylistic Suck: He's a shoddily drawn circle with lines as facial features.
  • Token Evil Teammate: He's a Corrupt Corporate Executive and either a complete racist (BFDIA), or a limb stealer (TPOT). It is probably safe to say that he is this trope for whatever team he is on.
  • Token Minority: He is the only member of The S! who is not a shade of blue or is colorless.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Has been getting self-centered and heavily racist in the recent BFDIA and TPOT episodes.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He created and sold the Box of Paper Slips, which allow the user to write down monetary values on slips of paper as legal tender. Leafy uses a Paper Slip to buy Dream Island when Firey doesn't let her on, meaning nobody ever got to see the island.
  • Volumetric Mouth: Yellow Face's mouth takes up about 80% of his face whenever he talks. Keep in mind he's also a sentient face that is fairly large when compared to the other contestants.
