The Valkyries
The warriors for Asgard and the playable characters of the game. Göll
Göll
- Jack of All Stats: She starts with normal health, no levels in stats and a weak starting pistol, but has more potential for upgrades than others.
- Playing with Fire: Both of her abilities are fireballs of some variety. Her secondary is a weak fireball that burns enemies over time, and her ultimate is an explosive fireball.
Freyr
Freyr
- Instant Armor: His starting ultimate lets him gain armor every few rooms.
- Invincibility Power-Up: His starting secondary lets him be immune to damage for a few half-beats.
- Revolvers Are Just Better: His starting weapon.
Hildr
Hildr
- Fragile Speedster: She starts out with some levels in Speed, but less health that Göll. Her ultimate gives her a considerable speed buff that can be spammed without restrictions.
- Short-Range Shotgun: Her starting weapon.
Njord
Njord
- Heal Thyself: His starting ultimate lets him heal himself for 50 HP per room.
- Magikarp Power: Starts out with 50 health, and his energy blasts are relatively weak, but live long enough to benefit from stat shrines and equipment, Njord can turn into an unstoppable, infinite ammo juggernaut taking huge chunks out of boss health bars with every hit.
- Mechanically Unusual Fighter: He can't take any weapons, instead shooting bolts of energy out of his hands.
- Squishy Wizard: He has less health than others, but can make up for it by having infinite ammo.
Odr
Odr
- Not Quite Flight: Odr can jump infinite times, fall slower, and hover in the air.
- One-Hit-Point Wonder: He can take only one hit, which means even the most feeble enemies can easily kill him.
- Sawed-Off Shotgun: His starting weapon.
Skuld
Skuld
- Attack! Attack! Attack!: Encouraged. Skuld bleeds out health over time, but regenerates a few points when she damages enemies. In order to keep her alive, the player needs to continually move into unexplored rooms and fight.
- Damage Over Time: Her gimmick revolves around this happening to her; she starts with a higher base health of 150, but it's constantly draining.
Geri
Geri
- Badass Adorable: He's small and cute, sure, but just as capable of taking on Helheim's forces as the other Valkyries.
- Cast from Money: His secondary lets him throw a coin for massive damage and his ultimate lets him withdraw a coin from the bank at any time.
- Magikarp Power: Geri has a rough start with only 25 HP, a measly pistol, and being too short to look through the Library door's window. Once your bank account is big enough though, the guaranteed Bank room on each floor means he can withdraw enough funds to clean out the shops and invest back into the bank once he's powered up. Furthermore, his starting abilities let him withdraw from the bank at anytime to nuke down enemies with.
- One-Hit-Point Wonder: Initially. He starts with a single segment of health, making him as weak as Odr and Sanngriðr. Unlike them, however, Geri actually has a health bar, so he can still get shields and health upgrades to avert this as a run goes on.
- Promoted to Playable: He's a playable version of one of the banker NPCs.
Herfjötur
Herfjötur
- Cast from Money: They lack a traditional health bar, instead losing half their coins rounded up when hit and dying once they're out of money.
- Long-Range Fighter: Their starting loadout gives them a bolt-action rifle and the Snipe secondary ability.
Rún
Rún
- Mechanically Unusual Fighter: His starting loadout is entirely random, with some bounds.
- Up to 100 max health, with some or all of it potentially missing
- Up to 75 shields; at least 25 guaranteed if he started with no health
- Any weapon
- Up to 10 coins (or none at all)
- Up to 3 keys (or none at all)
- One piece of gear in any loadout slot
- Random abilities, if they've been unlocked (and he may still spawn with none even then). The normal Dash may also be replaced with Odr's Dash/Fly.
Sanngriðr
Sanngriðr
- Kill Enemies to Open: As the challenge character, she needs to clear every other room on the floor before she can take on the boss.
- One-Hit-Point Wonder: She has no health bar, just like Odr.
