Heroes

    Team Avatar Harmony

Tropes applying to the team as a whole:

  • Action Hero: Most of Team Avatar holds this role. Given that fighting is usually how they end up solving their biggest problems.

Avatar Twilight Sparkle

  • Crippling Overspecialization: Unlike Canon Twilight, this Twilight poured all her focus into bending when she learned she was the avatar, and thus doesn't know nearly as much about conventional magic as she could.
  • Elemental Powers: Being the Avatar, she can wield all four elements:
  • Expy: Twilight is this to Aang. The Avatar who is trying to adapt to being gone 100 years and struggling with the responsibilities she has on her head. On the other hand, she doesn't have nearly as much of Aang's playfulness.
    • She's also a bit of one for Sokka, being The Smart Guy and the one most interested in learning new strategies.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Due to the difficulties of being in a stone egg for 100 years has some difficulties adjusting to the new world around her, but she treats every step as an adventure, so it only throws her off when something unexpected happens or if she does a rash move in response to the conditions.
  • I Work Alone: Twilight does this several times due to her Guilt Complex, but thankfully the magic of friendship always finds a way to bring her back.
  • Reincarnation: Every Avatar is this.
  • Survivor's Guilt: While parts of Twilight's tribe survived, she feels guilty she didn't make it with them to help them during the great firebender persecution during the 100 years war.

Rainbow Dash

  • Blow You Away
  • Expy: Is (sort of) this to Katara, representing her fierce skill as a bender that's better than the avatar in their bending specialization and temper.
    • She's alos this for Toph, due to her cocky attitude and later becomes The Blind One.

Fluttershy

Pinkie Pie

  • Expy: Pinkie Pie this for Sokka, being the "normal" (As normal as Pinkie can be anyway) one of the group who gets special training.

Applejack

Spike

    Allies

Antagonists

    Water Nation

Nightmare Moon

The Queen of the water nation.

Rarity

Trixie

  • Adaptational Villainy: Trixie is much worse then her canon counterpart. She's a Bad Boss, she willingly sides with Discord for more power, she's The Starscream... the list goes on.
  • Evil Laugh: Discussed as Trixie experiments with several different varieties of this.
  • Expy: Trixie is this for Admiral Zhao.

Sweetie Belle

  • Adaptational Villainy
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Sweetie Belle is leader of the armies, and does most of the work.
  • Evil Virtues: Sweetie Belle might be partially insane thanks to discord's influence, but she does have several virtues: Love for her Sister, Loyalty to her friends, Hard Work for getting what she wants, Determination to accomplish her goals, and Balanced. The last virtue is because she isn't as interested in favoring unicorns like a lot of the water nation, and instead choosing her captains by ability.
  • Expy: Sweetie Belle is this for Azula.
  • Manipulative Bastard
  • Poisonous Person

Scootaloo

Flowerbloom

Princess Celestia

Sombra

Discord

  • Adaptational Villainy: Much more villainous than his cannon counterpart, and ''never makes a Heel–Face Turn.
  • The Chessmaster: Is ultimately revealed to be one. In essence, his 100 years of imprisonment, mixed with Xanatos Speed Chess showed him to be one of these of the highest order.
  • The Corrupter: His essence is the whole reason why the 100 years war began in the 1st place.
  • Evil Plan: Discord: "So, you think by sealing me away, I will be stopped, do you? Well, I will use my corruption, a piece of my essence to corrupt one of the elements of harmony, and so destroy the current avatar and lead the water nation to a war with the whole world. Then, by my influence, we'll wipe out the fire tribes and the dragons to secure my position. When the avatar returns, I'll take one of the "chapter specific villains" Trixie, and use her as my special agent in the mortal plain to act under everyone's noses. To that end, I'll use her to steal the alicorn amulet, and when Spike gets generosity put into him, I'll steal him away when nobody's looking, and give him to Rarity. While this could be seen as giving away the one thing that can hurt me, I'll corrupt the element while it's in Spike and vulnerable, so that when it's returned to Rarity, I can use it whenever I want. Then, I'll use Trixie to stall Rarity during [[spoiler: The summer sun celebration to ensure the heroes don't win. Then I'll send my creature of darkness, Sombra to destroy the elements. If he fails, it doesn't matter that much. Rarity will still be integrated into the group, and moving towards releasing me. Then when Trixie tips her hand, I'll use my corruption in Rarity to open my prison and throw off their aim.]] It's that simple."]]
  • Expy: Although he never appeared in the original series, Discord could be considered the equivalent to Vaatu.
  • Jerkass Genie: Discord did indeed give all the powers of an alicorn to Trixie. However he didn't teach her how to use them, so she had to figure it out on her own.

    Minor Villains

The Flim-Flam Bros

Queen Chrysalis

Queen of the Changelings and the current ruler of the spirit world, she has a dark history with the previous Avatar: Cadence.

  • Big Bad Wannabe: She's the current ruler of the spirit world, but any attempt on her part to mess with the avatar or try to take over the real world only results in pain to herself.
