The Assassins

    Arbaaz Mir*

     Raza Soora

Raza Soora

A mute servant of Hamid who is purchased by Arbaaz to blend in as a diplomat.

     Hamid*

The Templars

     Francis Cotton

General Francis Cotton

A British General and Templar sent to ensure the death of Ranjit Singh and secure the Koh-i-Noor diamond.

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Easily holds off Arbaaz when engaging in a duel with him, and boasts of having a collection of Hidden Blades from previous Assassins he has killed.
  • Beard of Evil: Has one.
  • Big Bad: Of the 19th Century portion.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Gets incinerated along with other guards from a blast of light from a First Civilization being in the diamond.
  • Evil Brit: He's a British Templar.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He speaks politely with Arbaaz after identifying him as an Assassin, with the two of them sharing their mutual dislike of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who he also manages to fool into trusting him. After poisoning the Maharaja, he begins saying racist things and dismisses all the Assassins as vermin.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has two scars next to and above his left eye that, appropriately, form a cross.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Unlike other Templars who have some kind of complexity, Francis Cotton is a major colonialist bigot.
  • Sherlock Scan: He is able to figure out immediately that Arbaaz Mir is not a diplomat, noting that he moves like a jungle cat on the hunt, and deduces he is an Assassin.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Turns out shooting at a member of Those Who Came Before and hitting a Piece of Eden is not the smartest thing to do.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Hits and tries to stab Pyara Kaur when she attempts to flee from the Summer Palace with the Koh-I-Noor, mistaking her for an Assassin since she had a hood up.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Has no problem trying to kill Raza Soora after he attempts to defend Pyara.

Sikh Empire

     Ranjit Singh

Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Founder of the Sikh Empire and a major obstacle to British and Templar control of the region. He is also the guardian of the Koh-I-Noor diamond.

  • Defiant to the End: He's suffered three strokes, is barely able to speak, and has been poisoned, but Singh somehow manages to stand up and defy Cotton after his plot is exposed.
Singh: India... will not... fall... to the likes... of you... Templar.
  • The High King: Maharaja translates into "high king" from Hindi.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Acknowledges himself as this after Cotton poisoned him, telling Pyara that he mistakenly thought the British men of honor, but has doomed the Sikh Empire by trusting them.
  • Im Dying Please Take My Macguffin: After realizing he is dying, he refuses Pyara's idea to use the Koh-I-Noor to save him, instead entrusting it to her to take and hide from the Templars.
  • King on His Deathbed: He has suffered three strokes and is getting weaker, which gives the Templars their opening to poison him and throw India into chaos as his much weaker-willed successors vie for power, enabling them to steal the Koh-I-Noor and take over India under the guise of the British Empire.
  • Noble Demon: He was a conqueror who invaded neighbouring territories like Kashmir (for which Arbaaz resents him) but he built an empire founded on religious tolerance and good rule.

     Pyara Kaur*
