Meirin Kanzaki
- Voiced by: Saeko Chiba
By day, your typical teenage girl who has a few good friends and is hopelessly in love with her Victorious Childhood Friend, Asuka. She loves feng shui divination, and seems pretty good at it. Sometimes, she's able to use it to help out her friends. By night, however, she's Dr. Rin, an online fortune-telling wonder who gets tons of e-mails and is driving her father's business into ruin. Things begin to become weird when a strange evil spirit seems intent on stealing her "power," although what this power could be, she has no idea. Her only protections are her loyal True Companions and her magic hakke crystal, which protects her from harm.
- Genki Girl: Particularly on the walk to school with Asuka, where she invariably goes into Super-Deformed mode and hovers around Asuka as a Human Hummingbird.
- Love Freak: Just about every other line out of her mouth, even if it isn't relating to Asuka is about true love.
- Mad Love: Her affections for Asuka look like this at first, but it's easy enough to tell that he returns her affections a few episodes in.
- Opposites Attract: She's a Genki Magical Girl Love Freak. He's a straight-laced skeptic. Naturally, they make an adorable couple.
Asuka Yuuki
- Voiced by: Takayuki Sorita
- Giving Up on Logic: When Meirin and Asuka first meet Nanao, a small, talking kitsune and Meirin gets surprised and excited, Asuka simply comments that seeing these sorts of things when he's around Meirin simply doesn't surprise him anymore.
- Opposites Attract: She's a Genki Magical Girl Love Freak. He's a straight-laced skeptic. Naturally, they make an adorable couple.
Takashi Tokiwa
- Voiced by: Yuuto Kazama
- Bromantic Foil: Really, either he or Shinagawa could be this. They both reflect different aspects of Asuka's personality.
- Chick Magnet: Every girl in the school except Meirin and Yue seems to be one of his Fangirls.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Two of his antics included setting the school on fire while Meirin was in it, just so he could rescue her; and another was using Shikigami to try to drive Asuka's bus off a bridge. Thankfully, he gets better before anyone gets permanently injured.
- Fortune Teller: The resident one at the Nikumo Shrine using Onmyōdō. Mostly, he does love fortunes.
- Love Makes You Evil: Subverted-ish? Tokiwa is evil in the beginning, and even after his Heel–Face Turn, it's still pretty apparent he likes her. It's just that the connection between the two is feigned.
- Parental Abandonment: Unlike Asuka and Meirin, his family never appears except in flashbacks. One wonders how he convinced them to let him transfer schools after falling for Meirin.
Banri Shijou
- Voiced by: Yumi Kakazu
- Epiphany Therapy: It only takes one Whoopi Epiphany Speech from Meirin and his dead mother, and the trauma and mutism he had suffered is gone.
- Missing Mom - Banri blames himself for his mother's death when he was younger.
- Sex Shifter: Banri is a boy, but when Cynthia possesses him, his hair grows full length and he dons a Gothic Lolita dress. According to the mangaka, Banri becomes completely female when possessed. Cynthia does this just because she likes to wear cute clothes.
Eddy Tsukioka
- Voiced by: Hidenobu Kiuchi
- Token Minority: The only gaijin in the cast.
Yue Konishi
- Voiced by: Junko Takeuchi
Shuuko Kasukabe
- Voiced by: Kana Kouguchi
- Fangirl: For... just about any cute guy. Although she seems to have a persistent thing for Tokiwa in particular.
Daisuke Shinagawa
- Voiced by: Kei Watanabe
- Those Two Guys: Later on, after Ooimachi is introduced, this dynamic begins to show up between those two.
Tenshin, Nanao, Cynthia, and Takoyaki
The four pets of the main characters. Tenshin belongs to Meirin, Nanao to Tokiwa, Cynthia to Banri, and Takoyaki to Eddy. Two of them are not actual animals - Nanao is a shikigami that looks like a seven-tailed Kitsune, and Cynthia is actually a panda doll.- Abhorrent Admirer: Cynthia to Asuka. This is less because she's ugly and more because she's... well, a panda.
- Interspecies Romance: Cynthia, a panda doll, is in love with Asuka, who is human.
- Japanese Politeness: Nanao exclusively uses the most humble Japanese speech. Presumably, this is due to her status as a shikigami servant.
- Talking Animal: Three out of the four. The one exception is Tenshin, who only squawks, although he can still communicate with Meirin.
Emiko Kanzaki
Meirin's mother.- Waif-Fu: Evidently, she used to be a pro-wrestler. She's shown in pictures and flashbacks beating up men twice her size.
Shou Kanzaki
Meirin's father. He works as a television feng-shui master, but the mysterious Dr. Rin puts him to shame and is his Arch-Enemy.- Chivalrous Pervert: He seems to pay an inordinate amount of attention to his female fans while he's already married.
- Not-So-Phony Psychic: He has a show on TV, but he has a bad tendency to goof up the predictions, leaving an opening for Dr. Rin to eat into his business.
