Corporation for UltraHuman Protection

    Andrea Vernon 
The main POV character of the books. A second-generation Haitian-American, who dreams of discussing art and literature on the banks of the Seine while sipping on coffee and hates getting tied down with commitments. She is recruited by CUP as Ms. Oh's administrative assistant. In book 2, she's promoted to executive assistant.

    Persephone Oh 
The Vice President of Operations for CUP. The highest-ranking employee of the company anyone is ever going to see. A no-nonsense Korean-American woman from Faro County, Georgia. Her twang is unmistakable, as are her unique and original similes that frequently have to do with farming.

  • I Call It "Vera": Ms. Oh never goes anywhere without her .45 revolver named Shirley. She also has a backup gun named Doris.

    The Big Axe 
An 8-foot tall giant with a big magical axe that can cut through anything. Always wear denim overalls and a plaid shirt and never shaves his beard.

    King Tiger 
A man with the face, fur, and claws of a tiger. Originally from the slums of Mumbai, King Tiger clawed his way out from poverty and eventually made it across the ocean to the US, where he was recruited by CUP and became the leader of CUP's New York team. Always wears a stylish grey suit, even when going into battle.

    Rabbi Diamond 
An alien from a planet of diamond people with telekinetic powers, he was sent away by his mother as a child when the planet was invaded by the Sparnaxians. He was taken in by a nice family of Orthodox Jews, who raised him as his own and instilled in him their beliefs, so now Rabbi Diamond carries the weight of two suffering peoples on his shoulders: his own extinct race and the Sons of Abraham.

    SeƱora Fuego 
A talkative, gossip-loving Hispanic woman who can produce flames.

    Lightning Hwang 
A Chinese immigrant who can turn into a bolt of lightning and who owns Hwang's Hardware. Hwang is his actual surname.

    Cosmina (AKA Kitchen Sink) 
A Hungarian gymnast who won silver at the Olympics. She wears a suit of armor that can fire pretty much any kind of ammunition she can think of.

    Aleksandr Khomchanka (AKA Permafrost) 
A reformed Russian supervillain, recruited by CUP to help fight off the alien invasion in the first book. He stays on as a regular team member in book 2. He can freeze anything around him.

    Inspector Well Actually 
A super-genius with enhanced senses, but his abilities can only be activated when he's correcting someone. Generally disliked by everyone for his constant corrections, although he can't really help himself.

    Kayla 
Inspector Well Actually's assistant, who is very good at saying the exact wrong things to get him to the peak of his power. They become an item, and he proposes to her during the Sparnaxian invasion.

    Glare 
A new hero who replaced Rabbi Diamond on the team in book 2. His skin is constantly emitting blinding light, but he can also fly and is impervious to bullets. For some reason, he also only ever speaks at top volume.

    Teresa DeMarco 
Manager of Traffic and Distribution at CUP. Her job is to coordinate all of CUP's heroes across the country, sending them wherever they are or might be needed.

    Dr. Srinavasan 
The head of CUP's R&D department. Loses an arm during the Sparnaxian invasion and has a high-tech prosthetic made in book 2 as a replacement.

Sparnaxians

    Slumboc 
Admiral of the Sparnaxian Space Fleet. One of the leaders of the Sparnaxian invasion.

    Pickles 
Sparnaxian diplomatic envoy. One of the leaders of the Sparnaxian invasion.

DESTRON America

    Never More 
A brilliant supervillain, who is a human-raven mutant, which grants her the ability to fly and see things from far away. She becomes Andrea's best friend in book 2, while simultaneously working to take over the US.

    Truckface 
A supervillain with a passion for all manner of trucks. He wears truck-shaped masks.

    Cannibal Mermaid Queen 
A supervilain, who controls an unknown number of mermaids.

    Black Hole 
A very dangerous supervillain, who can suck in any object, which ceases to exist when it reaches his mouth.

    Deinonychus 
A human-dinosaur mutant supervillain. She has convinced a number of other criminals to volunteer for a similar mutation.

    Slammer 
A former college basketball player, who had his arms replaced by bionic ones and became a minor supervillain. He is Never More's boyfriend.

Other

    State/US Senator Vernon 
Andrea's older brother, a New York state senator. In book 2, the Governor of New York appoints him as that state's new junior US senator.
