Characters / Albedo The Role Playing Game Con Fed

Go To

The main protagonist force in the story. The Confederation of Planets (ConFed) and its military branch, the Extraplanetary Defense Force (EDF) are the biggest, size-wise, government in the story, and the one Erma, Toki and their families and friends belongs. While at first it's depicted as a benevolent government, actually there's lots of internal corruption due to many members of the EDF having their own agendas.

Tropes associated with the EDF and the ConFed:

  • Chummy Commies: Overlaps with Commie Land because according with Word of God, the ConFed is technically a communist government, in a deep contrast with the ILR's capitalist one. They are (technically) the protagonists during most of the story, especially during the first Story Arc. Curiously enough, the ConFed is ruled by a council rather than a supreme leader, a feature shared by the ILR. On the other hand. The ConFed avoids most of the stereotypes regarding this trope, as this is much applicable towards the economic backgrounds, rather than the government itself, not to mention the ConFed seems to be culture-wise more based on Europe and Japan (in Dornthant's case) than the former Communist bloc.
  • Expy: Of both Warsaw Pact, role-wise. and the NATO, government-wise. In fact, the EDF flag looks similar, design-wise, to the NATO flag.
  • The Federation

     Member Planets

Arras Chanka

The cradle of the anthropomorphic civilization, this system is composed of a single livable planet, three balls of rock and a giant gas, inhabited by two billion people, making it the most populous planet of the setting, for obvious reasons, and the home of both the ConFed and the EDF. It's capital city is named as just "Center City".
  • All Planets Are Earth-Like: Averted, only Arras Chanka III can sustain life, and the rest of the planets of this system can't.
  • Multicultural Alien Planet: Compared with the rest of the planets from other systems, Arras Chanka is much racially diverse. Justified here for very obvious reasons, as this system was the cradle of an entire civilization.
  • Planetary Nation: Arras Chanka is the home of both the EDF and the Confederation of Planets, and also from the whole system of the same name.

Dornthant

Erma Felna and her family's home solar system, this system is composed of two livable planets (Annah, when the Felnas live, and Doynah), a gas giant and two rocky worlds. Compared with other systems, their inhabitants are famous (or infamous) for being more conservative and dull compared with their neighbors. The capital city is Annahport, Erma's hometown.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: Dornthant is basically the space furry version of both Japan and the United Kingdom, sharing many aspects of the cultures of those two countries.
  • Wutai: Since this system and their people are basically space furry Japanese, they had many cultural traits from the Japanese culture, like sleeping in futons, drinking tea, sitting in seiza position, appreciating the social order, etc.

Danet

Toki Zha's homeland, Danet (also called Charranx by its inhabitants) was one of the last solar systems to be colonized, but also became one of the most dynamic and important, since within the system resides one of the most important EDF military academies, which was where Erma and Toki studied in their youth. Danettis are also famous (or infamous, from Erma's POV) in being very hedonistic, individualistic and naughty compared with other members of the ConFed.

Ekosiak

Onni Hitzok's home planet, and Erma's first job as an independent officer after the Battle of Derzon. Ekosiak lies basically in the backwater of the ConFed, as it resides in the edges of it. While technically a member of the ConFed, the reality is the Ekosiaki goverment only pays a lip service for their obligations. There's a strong independist movement there, which creates the background for the entire sub-arc in the comic.

     Characters

Auizotl the Third

Auizotl can be considered the mascot character of the games, as he appears in most illustrations used on them. He doesn't have much of a personality, other than being implied to fight at Erma's side when required.
  • Flat Character: His only role in the story is to illustrate the mechanics and rules of the game and nothing else.
  • Meaningful Name: Oddly enough, he's one of the few named characters (Besides Itzak Arrat) named after a historical figure: He's named after the Aztec emperor of the same name who was the father of Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor. He's also named after the legendary Aztec creature of the same name, who was shaped like a dog, fittingly enough.note
  • Wolf Man: Canine
