Present Day Heroes

    Katherine Farrel

The adventurous red-headed heroine. She's looking for the lost Institute of Magic.

With her razor-sharp wit and excellent knack for handling sticky situations, Katherine naturally fell into the leadership position of her group. Katherine grew up together with Steffan and Yegir in a small farming village. When the town fell on hard times, it was Katherine who suggested they seek their fortunes elsewhere. Over the years, she has developed what Yegir has called an "interesting" fighting style. She primarily fights unarmed, manipulating her environment and tackling her opponents head on.

    Steffan "Wall" Green

Steffan is a good-natured fellow whose love for his friends is only surpassed by his love for his shield. A creature of habit, Steffan always takes the night's first watch where he spends hours cleaning and mending his shield's battle scars. Despite the constant need for shield repairs, Steffan does not begrudge the scrapes he finds himself in. He would happily follow Katherine to the ends of earth and back, a trip they've now made three times.

    Yegir

Yegir has never been a bardan to mince his words. When a situation is not to his liking, he makes his opinions known using either his words or his massive Zweihander. As a child, it was this bluntness that earned him several lashings and the friendship of Katherine and Steffan. Yegir revels in the thrill of battle and prefers to fight multiple enemies at once, a preference that has lead to severe injuries on more than one occasion.

    Jarvan Malleck

A former pirate whose face is constantly hidden by the shadow of his hood.Jarvan was hired by the group for this quest, but truth be told, he would have left the city of Desmena without pay. While his expertise in trap detection and disarming, lock-picking, and general sneakiness proved valuable assets when exploring ruins, those same skills had rubbed some very important people the wrong way. Knowing how far the reach of his old enemies extends, Jarvan hides his past beneath a layer of cocky bravado and careful avoidance of any in-depth discussions with other members of the group.

Pirates

    Captain Dobhar Daudin

The captain of the pirates. After finding Katherine's notes on the lost school of magic, he decides to pursue it as well. He eventually joins the group.

With Pirate Lord and captain under his belt, Dobhar was not always the confident man he is today. Dobhar grew up a poor young lad on the streets of Normoon Port. Along with an old friend long forgotten, the two chased dreams of magic and world seeing. Unfortunately, a pirate raid along the port forced Dobhar to fight for his life along the others kidnapped into servitude. Through determination and cunning, Dobhar eventually worked his way up from slave to first mate. A well timed mutiny ended with Dobhar gaining the title of captain and Pirate Lord from former Pirate Lord Onyx and thus began his time as Captain Dobhar the Fury.

    Astrotia

A pirate with a black bun.

    Hydrophis "Drophy"

A brown skinned pirate with a blue and gold bandanna.

    Krefft

A mustachioed pirate.

The Institute's Council of Mages

    Solaris Isenthorne

The archmage of the council. He knew that Magicka magic had been damaging the Veil long before Cyril ever caught wind, but he failed to find a way around it. In his desperation, a demonic creature from Magicka bribed him with magical knowledge into summoning it into the real world through Ariel's body.

  • Deal with the Devil: He agreed to summon the creature into Aikonia for arcane knowledge unknown to man. The demon did not uphold its end of the bargain.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He holds the demon possessed Ariel down long enough for Cyril to impale them with a crystal branch, finally killing the demon with Life Magic.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The collapse of magical society was already happening with the Veil falling apart, but the Institute only crashed and burned so spectacularly because he decided to summon a Magicka demon into Aikonia.

    Ariel Vanderson

The pink haired councilwoman. One of the four council members who suspected Solaris was up to something.

As a girl, she had lived in the hidden Life Magic village. When it was destroyed by decree of the king, Solaris saved her from burning to death in her house.

    Enceladus Kaile

A clean shaven councilman with bushy eyebrows. One of the four council members who suspected Solaris was up to something.

    Mar Dorsair

A councilwoman with long black hair. One of the four council members who suspected Solaris was up to something. She and Enceladus recruited Cyril into trying to figure out what Solaris was up to, and she and Cyril recruited Gwynne into figuring out what Arwel had been doing with Ariel.

When Solaris was shoved through the portal into Magicka, she and Cyril went after him.

    Syd Gilius

A young, blond haired councilman and an expert on technical magical issues. One of the four council members who suspected Solaris was up to something.

  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Unfortunately, we don't get to see how great his understanding of Cyril's findings would have been, as he is mercilessly killed off by the demon possessed Ariel very early on.

    Callisto Drumont

A councilman with a great brown bushy beard. He knew what Solaris had been up to since the beginning.

  • Killed Off for Real: Stabbed by Solaris with a crystal branch so that his life could fuel the Life Magic necessary to kill the demonic Ariel.

    Deimos Teravenn

A councilman with long brown sideburns. He knew what Solaris had been up to since the beginning.

  • Killed Off for Real: The last council member to die. Beheaded by the demonic Ariel for trying to be its "king" in its magic-ruled Aikonia.
