A nice girl who works in her father's Okonomiyaki restaurant and attends evening classes at the university.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Yakko is blonde in the manga, but has brown hair in the anime except for the OP.
  • All-Loving Hero: She is a very compassionate person, even showing kindness towards Meiko, the Rich Bitch who hates her.
  • Daddy's Girl: While she's occasionally annoyed by her father's behavior, she spends most of her time helping him in his restaurant. He's the only family member she has, so she's obviously loyal to him.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Her father doesn't like Go and Satomi because they are rock musicians and have long hair.
  • The Ditherer: Her inability to choose between her admirers Go and Satomi drives the plot. She genuinely likes both, only realizing she has real feelings for Go near the end.
  • Dude Magnet: Go and Satomi are in love with her, Go's little brother Hashizo has an adoring obsession for her, and the customers at her father's restaurant commented on how pretty she is. Even Juliano the cat is attracted to Yakko and daydreams about marrying her.
  • Girl Next Door: A cute, friendly, and approachable girl who takes care of her Love Interest's younger brother while working at her father's restaurant.

  • Magnetic Hero: She easily befriends everyone, due to her Nice Girl nature and willingness to help people.
  • Morality Pet: She's the only girl Juliano doesn't hate.
  • Naïve Everygirl: All the other girls in the series are portrayed as confident and aggressively pursuing boys, while Yakko is an innocent and indecisive Dude Magnet who can't even decide which one of her admirers she actually likes back.
  • Nice Girl: One of the most hepful and caring girls around.
  • Obliviously Beautiful: At one point, she thinks she could never compete with a beautiful and rich girl like Meiko, despite the fact that most of the guys in the series are in love with Yakko herself, not Meiko. She also seems unaware of the reaction she gets from boys when she's half-naked or in bikini.
  • Oblivious to Love: Initially, she doesn't realize when Go starts to develop feelings for her.
  • Parental Substitute: Becomes this to Hashizo since their first meeting. Since Hashizo's parents are dead, he desperately wants a mother figure.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: She's calm and down-to-earth, her father is neurotic and prone to overreactions.

  • Cats Are Mean: Grumpy, selfish, and with a deep hatred of all women, except Yakko.
  • Cats Are Snarkers: Easily the snarkiest character, and provides many funny one-liners in his interactions with Hashizo, Go, and Yakko who are not snarky at all.

  • Trademark Favorite Food: Okonomiyaki, especially if cooked by Shige.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Hashizo. When Hashizo runs away, Juliano is always following him. He would also follow Yakko if she is in danger.

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Yakko at times worries about her father, even saying that he always manages to embarrass himself.
