    The Player Character/"Sunshine"
  • Affectionate Nickname: Is dubbed "Sunshine" by Grim on Day Two. According to him, it's because their soul is blindingly bright.
  • Catgirl: You can choose to give your character cat ears in the customization menu.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: One of your possible clothing options for a fem-presenting player character is a frilly lolita-style dress. The look can be accented further by hair ribbons or a lace-trimmed headband.
  • The Gadfly: Much of your interactions with Grim are you poking fun at him to see how he'll react.
  • Meido: The DLC lets you dress your character in a frilly maid costume if you're using the masc body type.
  • Perky Goth: You can dress in just as much black as Grim (including black lipstick) and even mention working as a mortician for extra goth points, but the player character is much perkier between the two of them, which is what earns you the nickname "Sunshine".
  • Sleeps in the Nude: When Grim asks what kind of pajamas you wear on Night 5, you have the option to say that you don't wear any. Naturally, Grim blushes at this revelation.
  • Sunny Sunflower Disposition: Grim brings you a bouquet on Day 5 that includes sunflowers because they remind him of you.
  • The Tease: You can play as one of these by choosing the more suggestive dialogue options.

    The Grim Reaper/"Grim"
  • Affectionate Nickname:: Aside from "Grim", the player character also often calls him "Grimmy" and "my little reaper".
  • all lowercase letters: Starts typing like this from Day 2 onwards after "Sunshine" makes fun of him for initially capitalizing every word in his sentences.
  • Born as an Adult: All Grim Reapers come into existence in an adult body, and that includes Casper.
  • Cannot Tell a Lie: As a Reaper, he says he is unable to lie, which makes things very difficult for him whenever he's trying to be tsundere.
  • Chuunibyou: The player character assumes him to be one of these, especially given his theatrics. Even when it becomes clear that he really is a Reaper, you still tease him every now and then for being an "edgelord".
  • Cute Little Fangs: He has pronounced canines that serve to make him look even more endearing.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: Despite wanting your soul, Grim is pretty friendly, if a bit grumpy.
  • Expy: Word of God says that Grim was inspired by Leos from Two And A Half Studios' previous game, The Divine Speaker, as both are frequently-bullied Deadpan Snarkers whose trades involve ending lives.
  • Given Name Reveal: His real name is Casper, which is learned after he bonds with the player character enough to drop his "edgelord" persona.
  • Hates Being Called Cute: He always objects whenever the player calls him cute because he doesn't understand why anyone would find a Grim Reaper adorable.
  • Hopeless with Tech: While he has a basic grasp on using technology, he struggles with the social etiquette of typing styles and emoticon usage. Interestingly, he mentions he made the app he installed on the player character's computer by using video tutorials, implying that he learned to code.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Has long, white hair that reaches his lower back, and one of your dialogue options can have you momentarily stunned by his good looks.
  • Luminescent Blush: Given how easy he is to fluster, this is a very common sight.
  • Mystical White Hair: As a self-proclaimed Grim Reaper, he claims that his is natural. He's telling the truth.
  • Proud Beauty: Depending on the player's choices, it's revealed he's very much aware of how good he looks and takes pride in it, but still doesn't like being called cute.

The Next Door Neighbor and their Partner
  • Beta Couple: The two act as this to Grim and Sunshine.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Though both are referred to with gender neutral pronouns, the neighbor is gentle and their partner is brooding.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: The partner struggles to tell the neighbor about being a grim reaper and their on-going Reincarnation Romance.
  • Divine Punishment: As a punishment for an breaking an unspecified rule, the partner is forced to continually reap the reincarnated soul of their love, who in their current life is your next door neighbor.
  • The Grim Reaper: Much like our main Grim, the neighbor's partner is also a grim reaper.
  • The Klutz: The neighbor accidently spilled a drink on their partner. and has at least once lost their keys.
  • Never Given a Name: The most description given is that the neighbor has a light, airy voice, and their partner has a deep, smooth voice.
  • The Voice: While you can eavesdrop on your neighbor's conversations with their partner and their mother, you never see what any of them look like.
  • Walking Spoiler: As they have very little dialogue, there isn't much to discuss about them except the fact that The neighbor's partner is another grim reaper.
