• People's Republic of Tyranny: The only leader of the People's Republic of Poland was Bolesław Bierut, who surprised the Polish nation with his iron red fist policy. Poland's "Little Stalin" was quickly overthrown by political changes.
• The Remnant: Post-communist parties with democratic-socialist or socialist profiles completely dominated the Polish political scene, leaving the conservatives far behind.
• Enemy Mine: Polish-Ukrainian relations are tense. This is because Stepan Bandera, who is considered guilty of the genocide of Poles in Volhynia, is on freedom in Lviv.
• Balkanize Me: Adenauer several times proposed dividing Poland into Autonomous Republics in Silesia and Warmia-Masuria in order to establish there the center of former residents of German nationality.
• Uncertain Doom: When Cyrankiewicz played into the hands of the opposition and agreed to the meeting in Warsaw, Bierut left the country and no one knows where he is.
• Cranky Neighbor: All the neighbors of the Polish state have something to accuse its of:
  • Republic of Belarus - President Ponomarenko is responsible for the persecution of Polish citizens in Western Belarus in the 1940s.
  • Ukraine - Ukrainians are not willing to give Bandera and UPA members to the Poles and judge them for genocide in Volhynia.
  • Russian Federation - President Pokryshkin refuses to initiate proceedings in the case of those involved in the Katyn massacre.
  • Federal Republic of Germany - Chancellor Adenauer still considers the territories annexed to Poland after World War II as German territories.
  • Czech and Slovak Federative Republic - Czechs still remember how Poles occupied Zaolzie before World War II.
  • Republic of Lithuania - Lithuanians still hold a grudge against Poles for annexing the Vilnius region in 1920.

Edward Gierek
