Yes, we really are.

There are numerous instances in the SMG4 channel where the fourth wall is broken during episodes, while some are focusing on breaking it. And the fourth wall is constantly attacked by Mario as he can break the fourth wall anyway when he is mad or feel nervous when he watches something too sensitive. In fact, most of them can be found here.

    General 
  • Anytime an action causes the camera to be affected (Like during the battle on anime island, Swagmaster managed to knock some anime characters into the camera, knocking it down).
  • Anytime a character explicitly mentions a notable date of recently released videos (During Mario SAW, Mario asked how Luigi's Saturday was. Saturdays are usually the upload days for SMG4 videos).

    Season 1 
  • Dreams:
    • Toad mentions that he hated Mario for all the Bloopers they been in, which Mario replies that Dreams was only SMG4's second video, leading Toad to clarify that he meant the videos other people made before SMG4.
    • Mario says that the game he's in is gay.
    • In one of Mario's dreams, Bowser states that he is using hacks not steroids.
    • Mario says that he doesn’t get how Peach is trapped in the wall.
    • When Mario was driving away, Lakitu says that it isn’t part of the blooper.
  • Flashbacks: Mario mentions Gameshark, a hacking code.
  • Time Freeze: After Mario fixes the clock, he says "the hack is broken".
  • Mario's Guide to Defeating Bowser: Mario talks directly to the viewer.
  • Blooper Problems: Lakitu tells the viewer about the problems he and Mario have when making bloopers.
  • Just Like Any Other Day: Mario says he gets his cheats from YouTube.
  • Enter X: X asks the viewers to break him out of jail.
  • Scatman's Revenge: During the period where Mario wears the cursed clothes, he attempts to talk to the audience, but the screen becomes static.
  • HALL 9000: To sneak into the castle, SMG4 tells Mario that they are going to use their moon jump codes to get to the roof and break in, and Mario mentions that the code isn't switched on. They then jump to the top of the screen and turn it on.

    Season 2 
  • Breaking Walls: The whole blooper is about Mario and SMG4 getting kicked out of the fourth wall.
  • The Warrior and the Hobo: The Narrator frequently talks to the viewer about Mario's and SMG4's journey, but stops and runs away when the two ask for his identity.

    Season 3 
  • The Mario Parable: The Narrator speaks on how Mario is just in a simulation although he denies this.
  • Super Happy Magical Fun Fun Island: When SMG3 slips on a banana peel, an audience laugh is heard, and SMG3 angrily orders the laughing to stop.

    Season 4 
  • Guards N' Retards: The Butt Ninja: Swag says "God screw this Nintendo game".
  • Super Pokeman 64: GYMS AND BADGES: Professor Oak says he hadn't seen Mario in seven weeks, because the last Super Pokeman 64 blooper was released exactly 7 weeks before this one was.
  • Who let the Chomp out?: After Gourmet Guy is blasted off the cannon, a Mc Shy Guy appears and waves to the audience. After being freed, the Chain Chomp crashes into the camera.

    Season 5 
  • Castle Royale: Toadsworth humorously points out that Peach turned into an animated GIF.
  • Ssenmodnar 10: When Mario grows to the size of the castle and punches the Mario Head, he also punches away the timer on the bottom left of the screen.
  • Mario Simulator Interactive!: One of the game overs involves Mario telling it to shut up while another game over happens after Mario reads the in-game message that he cannot do that action because he does not know it.
  • Casino, Cards and Chaos: Luigi asks what he was doing for the past 9 minutes, which is how long the episode took.

    Season 6 
  • SMG4 N' Pals: Seaside Stupidity:
    • In Part 1, Fishy Boopkins says that they don't have a license to sing Under The Sea, leading him to sing it horribly instead.
    • In Part 2, when Nintendofan997 begs A. S. Swipe to kill Mario to save himself, the latter retaliates by pointing out Nintendofan997 is just a side character and thereby should be killed instead.
  • We're going on a Luigi hunt: In the beginning, Mario talks to the audience in the style of Dora the Explorer.
  • Mario joins the Circus: SMG4 points out how he gets less screen time than Mario.
  • Super Mario RUN RUN RUN!: Kamek yells: "How dare you throw side characters at me!" after Mario throws Bob Bobowski at him.

    Season 7 
  • Stupid Smash Bros: When Master Hand says "IS EVERYONE ON DRUGS?!", SMG4 shows up in the bottom right corner and says that they're just in an SMG4 video.
  • Mario goes to DIDNEY WORL:
    • When Bob gets thrown in jail, he asks the audience if they want to be his friend.
    • During the haunted house ride set up by the ticket man, SMG4's worst nightmare is revealed to be his first video.
  • The Mario Channel: MARIOBUSTERS: Fishy Boopkins asks the audiences to be his friend when asked if he had any friends.
  • Stupid Paper Mario: After SMG4 runs out of money to make his videos (as he carelessly spent it all), the blooper universe starts to deteriorate in quality. This is similar to The Amazing World of Gumball episode The Money.
  • The Mario Channel: MARIO'S CHALLENGE: Shroomy's dance after besting Mario and winning the challenge continues into the credits.
  • Wild, Wild Mario: Luigi explains that he has 53 part-time jobs to pay for Mario's damages, so that why he's not in a lot of episodes.
  • The Movie Audition: Luigi shrugs at the camera.
  • Mario University: Kermit announces that everyone was able to graduate within "the last 9 minutes of this video".

    Season 8 
  • Mario Battle Royale: Mario is able to notice the kill-feed and how many players were eliminated.
  • The Smash 5 Trials: Master Hand tells the viewer to get the DLC at Nintendo eShop for $795, before waving farewell and reminding the viewer to buy amiibos.
  • If Mario Was In... Kirby Star Allies: Mario asks the demon if he had seen the latest SMG4 video, which so happens to be this episode.
  • Mario Preschool: SMG4 interrupts the intro to tell the viewers about YouTube's new policy.
  • Freddy's Ultimate Custom Spaghetteria: SMG4 starts the video in front of a computer reading comments about how he should do a Five Nights at Freddy's Video. He then screams "Fine! I'LL DO IT!" and then grabs Mario for him to be in the video.
  • Stupid Mario Paint: When Toadsworth attacks Mario, he knocks over the camera.
  • Mario SAW: Mario asks Luigi how his Saturday went. The reason this counts as a fourth wall break is due to SMG4 releasing episodes on Saturday ( american time)
  • The Mario Carnival: Bob mentions an upcoming War of the Fat Italians episode.
  • War Of The Fat Italians 2018: Waluigi points out how SMG4 is a YouTuber. Bob also mentions how he's disappointed over The Waluigi Arc's generic ending.
  • Mario and the Bob Mansion...: At the end of the episode, Bob asks the viewers to buy his Christmas shirt and says that he'll "See [them] next time".
  • Mario and The Diss Track: After a Teletubby grabs away Bob's mansion, it leaves a void of nothingness.

    Season 9 
  • Stupid Mario 3D World: Peach notes her first speaking role in 2019.
  • Mario and the Anime Challenge: Saiko mentions that she has to be in a segment of the video.
  • Mario's Illegal Operation: Luigi mentions that the banning of anime will lead to a series of events (such as arcs), though Mario believes otherwise.
  • Mario's Lemonade Stand:
    • Tari sees Francis in Mario's thought bubble.
    • Meggy mentions trying to find Mario since two episodes ago (Mario and the Anime Challenge).
  • The Mario Showdown: Mario mentions how he, Luigi, Tari, and Meggy are in a different plot arc from Axol, Saiko, Boopkins, Bob, and SMG4. At the end of the episode, Bob complains about his almost total lack of lines.
  • World War Mario:
    • Mario was asking SMG4 how his Thursday was. The reason it counts on this list is due to Tari's Live Stream - Animated Short - META RUNNER being released on the last Thursday before the video.
    • When Swagmaster tackles some anime characters in the defense structure, he knocks the camera over in the process.
  • Final Hours: Ultra Instinct Shaggy nods at the camera before flying off.
  • Mario Does The Chores: Near the end of the video, Meggy gets orange juice all over the camera.
  • There's Something Up With Meggy...: When Meggy's treehouse is being destroyed by Mario, the camera falls down due to the intensity of the demolition.
  • A Day In The Life Of Everyone: Bowser says he's been kidnapped by SMG3 for one month, explaining his frequent absences. That also may be the reason that he did not have a major role in The Anime Arc, unlike the other arcs.
  • The Minecraft Plague: Luigi brings up the fact that Mario was in Minecraft a few weeks ago, which happens to be If Mario Was in... Minecraft, although it is possible that SMG4 told Luigi offscreen.
  • Mario Waits in Line For Some Spaghetti: Mario says he can't find any spaghetti after he stole all the town's supply from the last episode.
  • Super Mario Taxi:
    • While escaping with Yoshi, Mario reverses into the camera.
    • SMG4 explains to Meggy that he loops the same shop while driving to save time on editing.
  • SMG4 Runs Out of Memes: Bob ends up making the entire video look deep-fried in visual with his meme deep-fry machine.
  • The Weegee Uprising: When Shroomy mentions how convenient the existence of a time machine is, a Weegee-ized version of SMG4 is shown with a computer reading "Script". Just as they were about to be erased, Shroomy mentions how he could feel the scene fading away.
  • My Mario Academia: Bob asks why the camera is on them.

    Season 10 
  • Mario Gets His PINGAS Stuck In The Door: When several aliens come around, Bob sarcastically criticizes SMG4 for putting them in, calling it "real original".
  • Mario School Club: When Boopkins opens "The box of mystery", Bob stops the video and says, that "This next clip is a mystery".
  • SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny: SMG4said he cried for 10 hours when he was asked to make a 40-minutes long movie, which is how long Meggy's Destiny actually is.
  • The E G G: Mario decided that the end of the video must be more "manly".
  • Wario Tries To Stop Himself From Dying: Wario wondered why he heard the Coconut Mall theme moments before getting ran over by Mario. This happened to him in Super Mario Taxi.
  • SSENMODNAR - 3,826,412 SUB SPECIAL: In the "Who wants to be a millionaire" segment, Bob responds to Mario's cheating method by taking the interface and throwing it at him.
  • Mario Gets Woke: The entire blooper is about Mario breaking the fourth wall (manipulating the blooper itself) with the powers of the YouTube Remote.
  • The Internet Graveyard: Luigi snides at how recent bloopers have become "weirder and weirder", not-so-subtly referencing the absurdist and utterly bizarre plot of The Internet Graveyard and other Season 10 bloopers.
  • Deleted:
    • The blooper begins with SMG3 deleting Luke Lerdwichagul during the advertising intro segment.
    • In the same episode, SMG4 in his debut video trying to stop SMG3 recalls how his videos used to look like way back when he started.
  • Mario Scratches His Ass: Chris Gordman ask Swagmaster6969696969 what are they doing in the episode. Swag answer that he asked SMG4 about this cameo, because they didn't appear in The YouTube Arc at all.
  • Food Wars: Mario says that the video's plot is similar to Boys vs Girls, which Saiko reassures to him that Mario is literally fighting alongside females. Later in the video, while humping with one singular candy corn, Rob says "Watch me get this video demonetized,” which happened (briefly) to SSENMODNAR - 3,826,412 SUB SPECIAL.
  • SMG4 Expands His Brain: In the Luigi's Meaty Ass segment, Michael Jordan persuades the viewers not to look at things with Rule 34.
  • The Fan Written Episode: When Super Mafia Bros first appears, Mario asked who wrote the script for this episode and SMG4 answer that it isn't him, because it was written by fans.
  • War of the Simps: Fishy Boopkins says that they already had a full arc about bringing anime to life.
  • Mario's Mask Of Madness:
    • Mario states that Axol "finally became an interesting character" after the Mario Mask possessed him, resulting in Meggy punting Mario clear through the castle doors.
    • When Melony was transformed into an anime-like human girl, Mario complains that she is another "anime thot", a reference to how there are already four other original characters that are all anime-esque females. Meggy does not take this kindly.
