The newest site from the writing group Rewritten Realms. Unlike their first writing project, In The Pantheon, it uses entirely original characters and it primarily takes place in an alternate version of New Orleans.

The Blog Provides Examples Of:

  • The Big Easy: Downplayed. The writers have said they are intentionally trying to avoid stereotypes about life in New Orleans and be as authentic as possible (besides the supernatural elements that is) but they admit they too falter now and again.
  • City of Adventure: New Orleans. As it sits on "The Source" (the wellspring of all magic) it is filled with supernatural creatures who become even more powerful as long as long as they stay within city limits.
  • Genius Loci: New Orleans is portrayed as being more or less "alive". Communicating to it's supernatural citizens as a voice in their heads. Referred to with female pronouns. The entire impetus of the story is that NOLA is "calling" her children home.
  • Magnetic Plot Device: The Source, a sentient energy force from which anything supernatural is derived, its also considered the consciousness of NOLA itself. It has been "calling" its/her chrildren home, leading to an influx of new supernatural beings into the city on the regular.
  • Southern Gothic: As a writing group focusing on darker themed tales of magic and immortal beings in New Orleans.
