Awesome Music / Space☆Dandy

Go To

Being a Shinichiro Watanabe series, it cannot be complete without awesome music.

  • "Asa wa Kuru kara Sugu Akeru kara" (The Morning Will Come, the Dawn is Soon), the music that plays while Dandy and Meow are trying not to die on the death planet in the first episode, is absolutely funky.
  • The OP song, "Viva Namida" by Yasuyuki Okamura, is also funky and catchy. On the flip side, "Cosmic Adventure" was the first opening of the dub.
  • The end credits theme for the English dub, "Word Pack", is considered a cross between this and catchy. It's a mix of funk, techno, and dance which complements the hip hop X 1940s style Zeerust influence of the show. The same thing can be said about the ending theme for the Japanese version, "X Jigen e Youkoso" by Etsuko Yakushimaru.
  • "Nandaka Kanashikute Yarikirenai jan yo!", the song that plays near the end of Episode 9 as the plant people lose their sentience and return to being normal plants, is a very beautiful and heart wrenching piece.
  • The ending of Episode 6 has "Stardust Pipeline" by Junk Fujiyama. Supposedly, he composed it because Junk envisioned "Dandy surfing among the stars."
  • "New Disco on the Block" from the end of Episode 12 has an extremely catchy dance beat.
  • "ANATATO" is the love song that plays during the scene when QT takes Maker out for a date in Episode 13. Appropriately, the entire song uses robotic Daft Punk-styled vocals.
  • The few songs sung by the characters in Episode 17 are pretty good in their own right, especially the well adapted and sung English versions. The finale "All is All" is notably very fun and easy to start singing along to like any good musical song should be.
  • "Rock 'n' Roll Dandy" has the insanely catchy "Kanchigai Lonely Night". The only song by Dandy's short lived outfit DROPKIX, it's an upbeat pop song straight from the '80s! No wonder they looped it for two hours.
  • "Old Edition" by ☆Taku Takahashi, which plays during the first dance off between all the aliens in Episode 22.
  • The Space Dandy theme song done by ZEN-LA-ROCK feat. yomeiriland, gives a pop beat for Dandy and Ton Jrovolta to dance to at the end of "We're All Fools, So Let's Dance, Baby".
  • In the same vein as "ANATATO", there is "I'm losing you" from BTB, the insert song from "Lovers Are Trendy, Baby". It's played over the scene where Dandy is running to see Scarlet at a bar before she leaves. And then they miss each other all because a train gets in their line of sight.
  • "Dandy ni Kuchizuke", the song that plays when Dandy and Catherine discuss the secret of warping in "An Other-Dimensional Tale, Baby". We also hear this song during the cold open where Dandy talks to Catherine while she's in the shower.
  • "SPACE FUN CLUB" by ZEN-LA-ROCK, a peppy progressive (and absurdly catchy) synth tune that plays over the Season 2 finale credits.
  • In the final episode, in the scene where we learn the final truth of the series, we hear a beautiful-sounding vocal hymn. It's the vocals from the show's explanatory recurring cold open. It's a hymn to Dandy.
  • Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro's "Word Pack" as an amamzingly catchy space age disco track. This was used for the Toonami end credits for a VERY good reason!
