What Could Go Wrong
What Could Go Wrong consists a lot of alternative and plain ol' rock, where the band started it all:
- "There She Goes" may be somewhat comical in its context, but its chorus is very catchy and hammy. The outro is very pleasing as well.
- "Atom Bomb" is one of the most hard rock songs they've done during the chorus and the solo. Vinny also stated in their Another Light premiere that it would've been better as the first track on What Could Go Wrong.
- "Back To School" is a lot more reminiscent of pop rock, especially during the chorus.
- "The Wrong Side of History" is a dark song about mocking and calling out a Manipulative Bastard. The lead guitar riff gives it a villainous tone.
- "Hazy" is hazy and it's also about a depressed musician, where the protagonist is loathing themselves through their pessimism and doubt. And with it comes a laid-back riff that gets layered with more and more distorted guitars; the solo is even more beautiful.
- "Job in the City" is especially funky, upbeat and popping during the intro and outro, but then slows down in the middle. It's a mixture of psychedelic and funky 60's rock.
- "She Missed The Beat" may be one of their lesser liked songs, but that intro pounds and punches with the drums.
- "Ghost Page" is one of their most beloved songs, and for good reason. Those slow and depressing chords during the intro, first few verses and first two choruses are fitting for what it's about. It kicks in at around the halfway point, where the distortion comes in and the drums pound. In the ending, it quickens until it ends on the root note.
- "In A Dream" is on the softer and sadder side but it's still catchy, with its psychedelic flavor and loud drums. And Vinny's singing at the outro is impressive.
Another Light
Another Light is a much more psychedelic and experimental album, considered a step-up by fans.
- The Title Track, "Another Light", fully develops the riff at the end of "In A Dream" into a motivating Pep-Talk Song.
- "Settle For Less" is one of the funkier songs on the album, which was originally going to be called Settle For Less until Vinny and Mike changed it to Another Light since it worked out better.
- "Memories Lie" is rather slow to start but bursts in the outro. Vinny used a vocoder because his registers didn't seem to work and also out of laziness.
- "Tell Me" is one of Mike's favorites; Vinny's vocals in this song show a huge step up.
- "I'm So Happy" is Mood Whiplash; it's one of the harder rock songs on this album. Vinny called the solo a "dad rock" moment.
- "I'm So Sad" might be one of the least liked songs from the band but its riff is catchy; Vinny pointed out the cheesiness of the song coming after "I'm So Happy".
- "Memento Mori" was made during a bad existential crisis that Vinny was having; it's one of the more interesting and unique songs.
- "From The Stars" was a tribute to David Bowie, and is stylized as such in remembrance of him.
- "Rub Your Eyes" gives off the feeling of a mysterious 70's song; that chorus with the "Na Na~" part is catchy.
- "Reno" is another hard rock song. Vinny lampshaded it being in a style reminiscent of Nirvana.
- "In The Garden" is the band's Signature Song, where Joe told Vinny to take out as much guitar as he could. The song is the most synthy in the album by far.
- "Forgive and Forget" fits where it is, and sounds similar to "Time" by Pink Floyd.
- "Burn A Picture" is the Darkest Hour of the album until the outro, where it shows a "Ray of Hope" Ending.
