• "We're Going To Be Friends" by The White Stripes, which opens the movie, gives us the start of the film's heartwarming yet bittersweet vibe.
• "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai when Napoleon starts dancing on stage. It's so dorky yet amazing when he does all of this on the spot, which even his peers respect.
• "The Promise" by When In Rome, especially as the lyrics nicely fit Napoleon and Deb's situation, as two socially awkward teenagers having trouble connecting, but in the end making things work between the two of them. Coincidentally, Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez appeared in a movie with the same name as that group.
