Faction themes

  • Together to the Stars, the United Empire's theme, is very much the theme for Humans Are Special: an uplifting patriotic song, with a deep chorus and powerful percussion. Since the faction basically is The Empire coupled with MegaCorp, hearing this while they are pounding you into submission will not feel really uplifting, but rather intimidating...
  • The We, the Horatio theme, starts off slow, with a small tune that grows in epicness and power the longer the song goes, ending in a glorious finale with a chorus singing Horatio's praise. It does a good job of establishing Horatio as a Narcissist, but also has some passages that can sound rather sad.
  • The Families, the Lumeris' theme. Space-jazz a la Star Wars, and probably the smoothest faction theme for a strategy game ever.
  • Quantum Dub, the Sophons' theme. A high-tech sounding tune with surprisingly soft sonorities, it marks the faction's status as both The Smart Guy and the Badass Adorable of the setting.
  • To Rise, Virtual, the Vodyani theme, is an ominous hymn carried by a single woman, backed up by an equally ominous chorus and synthetizer sounds. It conveys well the drive of these Energy Beings to accomplish their fanatical goals, and the fact that they consider the rest as unworthy to do anything but serve them.
  • Across the Rift, the Riftborn's theme, is a mournful piano melody that embodies the faction's status as exiles in a world so different compared to their own. Parts of the song add a rapid percussion reminiscent of ticking clocks, a subtle nod to their mastery of time singularities. Probably the saddest theme of the bunch, definitely one of the most beautiful.
  • From the Heart, the Unfallen theme, is really odd compared to the rest of this list, as it is the only one that uses traditional instruments only, which perfectly matches the Unfallen's nature as sapient tress that possess a deep link to nature. The soothing melody of piano, bass clarinet and harp forms a soothing tune that embodies their status as Badass Pacifist that aren't afraid to pick up a fight, but would rather desire to heal the galaxy.
  • Driven by DNA, the Cravers Theme. This is a faction of a ruthless Hive Mind, Super-Soldier, Always Chaotic Evil race, and boy it shows. The sinister alarm-like sound, the Scare Chord, and the harsh synthetizer all mix together to form the most ominous theme of the game.
  • Time of Change, the Vaulters' Theme. Remixed straight from Endless Legend, the theme marks the return of one of the most beloved factions of the franchise, and can be described as 'the original Time of Change, recorded in a spaceship'. And it is awesome.
  • Immaterial Breath, the theme of the Umbral Choir, is as gorgeous as you would expect from a faction described as "refrains in a vast chorus" to be, conveying their ghostly nature and the sorrow and pain that has changed them and brought them to this galaxy.
  • Winds of the Red Blade, the theme of the Hissho, begins with eastern-inspired wind instruments set along with slow techno rhythms, providing you a perfect image of the Hissho's Samurai-like look and their honor-bound traditions in a sci-fi setting. And then the drums kick in. War drums. It can really pump you up for leading the Hissho into a glorious intergalactic war.

General themes

  • Flawless Theory is back, and better than ever. The leitmotif for the Endless universe is one of the best tracks of the game, and one listen to the chorus will convince everyone of that.
  • It is aways difficult to close the main menu and start a new game. Why? Memories of the Lost, the main menu theme, is the reason why. The game actually opens on the 4:06 mark before looping back, which adds to the awesome.
  • Cygnus is one of the popular ambient themes in the game. The atmosphere of the song provides a melancholic yet calming feeling, perfect for just enjoying your intergalactic empire and the vast galaxy as a whole.
