- If anticipation for Black Panther wasn't high enough, Kendrick Lamar was announced to be producing the film's soundtrack! The first single, an eventual Grammy and Oscar nominee, is the melancholic and solemn feature with SZA: "All The Stars".
- There's the gorgeous "Pray for Me":Who gon' pray for me?
Take my pain for me?
Save my soul for me?
'Cause I'm alone, you see
If I'm gon' die for you
If I'm gon' kill for you
Then I'll spill this blood for you, hey - The film's Oscar/Grammy-winning score starts with the triumphant "Wakanda" that introduces the titular nation. Like Captain America's theme before it, this went on to have the honor of being the only individual hero's theme to appear in the following Avengers movie. Brian Tyler worked parts of his Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World themes into Avengers: Age of Ultron, but Black Panther still counts for having its theme appear in its entirety.
- The ethereal "Ancestral Plane" during T'Challa's reunion with T'Chaka.
- "Killmonger", a sinister John Barry-esque trap beat that sums up his roots. It gets an amazing Dark Reprise in "Burn It All" when Killmonger becomes the King of Wakanda.
- Grammy winner "King's Dead", the soundtrack's very own Villain Song. "La di da di da" memes aside, it really is a fantastic song, with Kendrick's final verse - rapped in Killmonger's POV - worthy of mention.Fuck integrity, fuck your pedigree,
Fuck your feelings, fuck your culture
Fuck your moral, fuck your family, fuck your tribe
Fuck your land, fuck your children, fuck your wives
Who am I? Not your father, not your brother
Not your reason, not your future
Not your comfort, not your reverence, not your glory
Not your heaven, not your angel, not your spirit
Not your message, not your freedom
Not your people, not your neighbor
Not your baby, not your equal
Not the title y'all want me under!
All hail King Killmonger!
