  • Many of these usually occur when the celebrities trace ther roots back far, and have very complete and interconnected family trees.
  • Perhaps the two biggest crowning moments are during the Series 4 Sir Matthew Pinsent and Series 7 Alexander Armstrong episodes, during which both of them are able to trace their lineage back to the 15th century and powerful families and nobillity (particularly Armstrong, who is descended from Dukes and whose family STILL owns land in Northumberland). But then they are told they can go back even further, and great scrolls are brought out (and grand music begins playing) which reveals them both to be descendants of William the Conqueror, the man who changed Britain forever when he led the Norman invasion in 1066!
  • Mayor of London Boris Johnson discovered in his episode that he was descended from an illegitimate daughter of King George II, and therefore by extension, could also trace his family back to William the Conqueror and beyond.
  • On the US version, Jim Parsons learns that his six-times great-grandfather is Louis-François Trouard, a celebrated French architect who not only served King Louis XV, but was also good friends with the likes of author Guillaume Raynal, John Adams, and even Benjamin Franklin!
