Awesome / The Phantom of the Opera (2004)

• "Perhaps we can frighten away the ghosts of so many years ago with a little illumination. Gentlemen!" As divisive as the movie may be, the filmmakers absolutely got the Overture right.
• Raoul and the Phantom's swordfight in the snow-covered cemetery is a major adaptational change that is genuinely liked. Excellently done and the perfect chance for Raoul to unleash all his pent up anger. And he wins—but for Christine's intervention, the Phantom would be dead.
