- Let's face it, F-14s wiping the floor with the Japanese Zeros is pretty awesome. Bonus points when you remember that it was a Grumman bird (The F6F Hellcat) that would do that routinely after it entered service until the end of the war.
- Owens telling the Japanese pilot the entire Japanese plan complete with names of ships and code phrases.
- The survivors in the water realizing they’re probably going to die since the Zeros just killed one of them in the water … only for two F-14s to come roaring by in full attack mode, chasing after the Zeros.
- F-14s overfly a civilian yacht on reconnaissance, going into a vertical climb after the pass and being gone in seconds. Having never seen a jet plane, much less a Mach-2-capable fighter with variable-geometry wings, the passengers are stunned by their speed, and both confused and grateful for the US markings on the planes.
