  • When the band was about to tour the United States for the first time in support of Give Em Enough Rope, their manager wanted many punk bands to support them. The Clash refused and said they wanted their idol, R&B legend Bo Diddley. The Moment of Awesome came when Bo directly replied and was their opening act.
  • The circumstances of the recording of Live at Shea Stadium - The Clash were opening for The Who, and played the concert to an unenthusiastic stadium in the rain... and you can hear them slowly win the crowd! During a breakdown in the middle of "Clampdown" Strummer even drops into a little audience patter that shows a kind of charisma that (as one review put it) "Bono would kill to possess."
  • Topper Headon's drum solo in "Capital Radio Two."
  • Their cover of "I Fought the Law", especially when you hear the live recording.
