"Swing away."
  • During the beginning, although it was offscreen and more of a Tear Jerker. Morgan killed his slowly going insane dog to protect his sister. You heard it right, Morgan a child with asthma, who nearly died during a panic attack later in the movie protected his sister from a mad German shepherd. What makes it more badass was the stoic way he described what happened.
  • Merrill Hess with a baseball bat, versus an alien invader.
    "Swing away."
    • Special mention to the shot of the reward plaque as Merrill takes the bat down from the wall, providing a reminder as to just what he's capable of, and how he's ready to use that home-run-hitting strength to fight the monster that's been terrorizing his family.
    • Additionally, the final shot of the bat broken in half from how hard Merrill hit the alien when he finally knocked it against the dresser that spilled water all over its face, killing it.
  • The ending.
    • The family has recovered - Graham has his faith back, Merrill has his confidence, the kids are alright, I'm gonna assume Graham forgave Ray based on the talk they had during the movie, and the aliens have retreated. It's a happy ending to a good movie.
      • Also, there's the moral of the story: there is no random chance. There's a reason for it all. "Oh, but why would God take Graham's wife?" God didn't take away Graham's faith, that was Graham - and he didn't fully lose his faith, he was just struggling with the loss of his wife. God took Graham's wife for a reason: it's the butterfly effect. For all we know, Beau's thing with the water was her way of dealing with her mom's death, and therefore that's why the water was all around the house. I mean, you don't know. You can't question God. It's called FAITH for a reason!
