Andre-Louis invents an entirely new style of fencing by reading up on different theories. When it becomes known that the Privileged opposition are using the tactic of trapping their less skilled detractors in duels to the death, he turns their own tactic against them and decimates some of the best fencers in France. When it comes time for him to face the Marquis de La Tour d'Azyr, regarded as a cut above the rest, Andre-Louis dominates the fight so much that he outright toys with his opponent.
Over a matter of months, Andre-Louis manages to become one of the most successful playwrights and improvisers in the business, and when he is forced to leave that occupation he soon becomes the manager of the most successful fencing academy in Paris.
