Awesome / Rusev and Lana

Go To

  • Rusev kicked a lot of asses in his first year on the main WWE roster, but he scored the biggest win of his career at Fastlane 2015 when he got John Cena - John freakin' Cena - to pass out to the Accolade. Granted, it took a distraction from Lana, but when has Cena ever lost to a submission hold?
    • This would be the first time in 11 years, which only adds to how big of a win this is.
    • Rusev followed this the next night by verbally owning Cena & refusing his rematch challenge by saying Cena doesn't deserve it.
  • At WrestleMania 31, while (what one assumes is) the Russian National Anthem plays and after an epic salute from a good number of cannons, Rusev rides into his match on a GODDAMN TANK! On a night of over-the-top entrances, Rusev's massive spectacle was a fan favorite. (To say nothing of Lana's mink scarf, which was pretty awesome unto itself. She looked like a Bond villain.)
  • Dethroning Shinsuke Nakamura for the U.S. Championship in 2018 on what was simultaneously Christmas, Rusev's birthday, and Rusev Day.
  • As of 9/9/2020, he is now Miro, 'The Best Man' on AEW.
  • After going on an absolute tear in AEW (including finally turning on and annihilating his "friend" Kip Sabian for holding him back), Miro stops playing around and shows that he truly is one of the biggest beasts in the promotion by finally toppling the young TNT Champion Darby Allin in a killer match to win his first championship in the promotion. "The Best Man" is now the face of TNT!
  • His match against Eddie Kingston at All Out 2021, a fantastic opener to what would be AEW's greatest and most-successful PPV to date. Eddie has Miro's number, targeting his head and neck and even getting a visual pinfall that the referee only misses because he gets distracted by a dislodged turnbuckle pad, but with the aid of a canny low blow the Redeemer is able to turn the tide, laying Kingston out with repeated Matchka Kicks to retain his title in arguably his best match since coming to AEW.
  • After losing the TNT Championship to Sammy Guevara, Miro cut one of the most intense promos of his career, calling out God himself for abandoning him and threatening to destroy everyone who appeared before him until he became champion again.
I am done pleading with You, now I am telling You. My God, make no mistake, You will make me Your champion, or You will make me Your enemy! So if You stay silent over my head, I will snap necks under my foot. Until the next one I redeem is me, and the next one to forgive is You. Everyone else will know pain, until I become Your favorite champion.
