  • Rocky giving a brief etiquette lesson to a rude jackass and his entourage who won't stop calling Marie a "pig", knocking the punk against a brick wall and forcing him to apologize before roughly shoving him on his way.
    "Get a job!"
  • Ensemble Dark Horse Duke's awesome psyching up of Rocky: "Let's start building some hurtin' bombs!" His entire speech, with all sorts of old-fashioned phrases, manages to sound really badass coming from a trainer with decades of experience.
Duke: So what we'll be callin' on is good old fashioned blunt force trauma. Horsepower! Heavy duty, cast-iron, pile-driving punches that'll have to hurt so much they'll rattle his ancestors! Every time you hit him with this shot (*smack*) it's gotta feel like he tried kissin' the express train! (*TWO neck cracks*) Yeah! Let's start buildin' some hurtin' bombs!
  • Robert gives a pep talk to Rocky before the start of the third round.
Robert: Stay on him! Everybody thought this was a joke, including me! Now, nobody's laughing! Stay on him! Go get him! Go out strong!
  • This exchange at the start of round 10.
Mason: You're one crazy old man.
    Rocky: You'll get there.
    • Then in the middle of it, Rocky gets knocked down, gets a few brief flashbacks, before standing up, clearly not going down easy. Then they both just slug away.
    • In the end, as soon as that bell rang, both fighters hug it out.
    Rocky: You're all heart.
  • The closing credits, featuring real footage of people recreating the iconic run up the "Rocky steps," as has happened every day since the film was released.
  • Rocky's speech to his son Robert might be better than any of his moments inside the ring.
Rocky: Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! COWARDS DO THAT, AND THAT AIN'T YOU! YOU'RE BETTER THAN THAT! (Beat) I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son, you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life.
  • After Rocky starts to truly hurt Mason in the first round with a combination of head shots, Mason's trainer Martin is the only one to give him a reality check: "Yeah, well he came to battle, okay?.. Listen to me! If there's any bone in your body he can break, he's gonna do it. Give the man a little respect!" Props to a corner-man who actually recognizes the gravity of the situation his boxer is in and respects Rocky for the legendary boxer he is.
    • Martin is also briefly seen after the fight joyfully congratulating his fighter on finding that well of determination and endurance he'd prophesized Dixon needed before. Win or Lose, the old trainer knew that Dixon testing his limits was what really mattered.
    • Martin barely gets any time onscreen but is clearly a font of wisdom about boxing, much like Duke Evers. When Mason first comes back to his gym late at night, the old trainer imparts some knowledge that seems to echo across every hard-fought fight of the series.
Martin: You got everything money can buy, except what it can't. Its pride. Pride is what got your ass out here, and losing is what brought ya back. But people like you, they need to be tested. They need a challenge.
Mason 'The Line' Dixon: But you know that ain't never gunna happen, there ain't anybody out there, Martin.
Martin: There's always somebody out there. Always. And when that time comes and you find something standing if front of you, something that ain't running and ain't backin' up and is hittin' on you and you're too damn tired to breathe? You find that situation on you, that good, cuz that's baptism under fire! Oh you get through that and you find the only kind of respect that matters in this damn world... self-respect.
  • As the fight goes on, Rocky gets some motivation from Mickey's voice, and a vision of Adrian further on; but the one that really hits home; when he takes an especially hard blow from Mason and for the first time picks himself up by remembering his own words to his son. With neither of his most important anchors around anymore, he finally found it in himself to see the fight through to the end. Dixon's expression when Rocko gets back up only adds to the moment. That was a killer punch, and he's been dishing them out the whole fight. Balboa finally looked like he was about to go down and stay down... and then he gets back up and keeps coming. Dixon's eyes widen into one of the best "Oh shit!" faces in recent cinema.
  • We find out late in the film that Mason Dixon is the undisputed champion. Not just a heavyweight champion of one of the big promotions, he's the heavyweight champion. And no boxer in the entire world can hold his own against him. This also makes Rocky going the distance against him even more awesome.
