Awesome / Power Rangers Cosmic Fury

Go To

Episode 1: Lightning Strikes

  • The opening continuous shot of the Rangers and the Morphin' Masters fighting an army of Zentinels and monsters on Zordnia is a truly spectacular sight to behold.
  • Welcome back, Billy! For that matter, welcome back David Yost!
  • Unlike most Zords, the Cosmic Fury fleet is not color-coded. Any Ranger can theoretically pilot any Zord, so long as you always have the Red Lion to form the upper body of the Megazord. Amelia immediately takes up the challenge, which is the first sign that she's stepping up to be the new leader now that Zayto is missing.

Episode 2:Beyond Repair

  • Lord Zedd has functionally already won by the end of this episode. He has depowered most of the Rangers, transformed one of their own into his brainwashed lieutenant, and forced the rest to retreat to the other side of the universe just to stay alive. "Spread the word: this planet is the property of Lord Zedd!"

Episode 3: Off Grid

  • Javi's new robotic arm might be too powerful for him to play his guitar without breaking strings, but it is just powerful enough to send a Scuttleworm monster flying with a single hit - while he is unmorphed.
  • Billy is at the top of his game in this episode. The original brainiac in blue figures out how to use the remnants of the Dino Fury arsenal and Master Red's Magic Staff to summon the Morphin' Grid into the physical world and create six Cosmic Orbs. The visual effects in the scene are especially impressive for Power Rangers, which is known for its long and messy history with budget limits.
  • Amelia earns her Rank Up to Red Ranger. We've seen women in Red before, but Charlie was Evil All Along and Lauren never got to make good on her 11th-Hour Ranger potential due to injury. Amelia gets the entire rest of the series to shine as she leads her friends into battle against Lord Zedd.

Episode 4: Team Work

  • It's horrible to see him like this, but Zedd definitely made the right call when he chose Ollie to be his "pet". Ollie quickly notices how the "weird forest" reacts to strangers who trample the plants and tricks the planet into trapping the Rangers for him.
  • The way to navigate Levvina is not through physical force, but with communication. Amelia tests the limits of her Rafkonian telepathy by mind-melding with the sentient forest, convincing the planet that the Rangers mean no harm.
  • Mick gets to fly the Eagle Zord! At the end of the battle, Mick borrows the Eagle to fly home and help his people as the Ninja Steel Red Ranger. Our Plucky Comic Relief is now the Hero of Another Story!

Episode 5: Rock Out

  • Javi is adapting to life as an amputee. While Aiyon is not thrilled about the dents in his cookware, Javi feels triumphant that he can still make music. Also, "Emperor of Evil" is one of the best songs this show has had in years: a barn-burster of a rock song with a strong beat and corny but endlessly fun lyrics. No wonder the forces of evil had so much fun with it!
  • This really is Javi's episode to shine. His creative thinking and his musical skills allow him to formulate the plan to get onto Akraal unnoticed so they can retrieve the Dragon Zord.
  • Power Rangers is known for its inexplicable but awesome colorful explosions after a morphing sequence. Here, the morph is accented by a massive burst of confetti, in keeping with the concert theme of their plan.
  • Evil Ollie ekes out a win for the forces of evil: he sneaks a Tracking Device onto the Dragon Zord and recruits a big game hunter monster who knows the Erridus terrain well. He's preparing to lead a siege on the base and completely wipe out the Rangers.

Episode 6: Take Off

  • Fern decides to save Solon from being a Scuttleworm's dinner with nothing but a Cosmic Fury morpher/blaster. Not only does she protect Solon, but she also ends up becoming a Power Ranger when Solon's DNA makes contact with her morpher. She gets a splashy Sixth Ranger entrance and all when she bursts from the cave, snapping away Ollie's Near-Villain Victory where he has the rest of the Rangers cornered.

Episode 7: Operation Seasoning

  • Heckyl showing off his new skills as the Dark Dino Charge Ranger. Good thing he's no longer a villain.
  • Tarrick, despite not being Void Knight/Void King anymore, is still an expert fighter. He demonstrates this by taking out Omwhyzo in two strikes, less than a minute after Omwhyzo said it would be "too easy" to beat an ordinary man.
  • "You saved your first city, Fern!"

Episode 8: Switching Sides

  • We open with a flurry of brief descriptions of offscreen moments of awesome:
    • Billy his busted his teammates out of prison in Angel Grove. Zack's hip-hop-kido proved especially important against the Zentinels.
    • Javi and Aiyon liberated Japan, and Dr. Lani Akana figured out how her son's mind control works. With her insight (destroy the Blue Ranger powers, and Ollie gets his mind back), the team sets in motion a plan to finally release him from Zedd's sway.
    • Fern, less than a week after getting her powers, went full Battle Couple with Izzy and drove out all the monsters in the entire country of New Zealand.

Episode 9: Master Plan

  • A villainous one: Master Zedd's new appearance after absorbing the powers of the Morphin' Masters is truly something to behold, with a wicked looking spiked crown, bladed gauntlets and a black cape. And then he proceeds to effortlessly obliterate the entire Cosmic Fury Zord fleet.
  • Another villainous one with the reveal of Bajillia's ultimate plan: Let Zedd gain this power, then capture him, shatter the container and unleash a wave of pure evil across the universe, wiping out the forces of good, then get rich selling arms to all the bad guys taking advantage of this new status quo.

Episode 10: The End

  • How Zedd is ultimately defeated in the end: Not by fighting or some Deus Ex Machina, but by the Rangers using reason and wisdom to persuade him to willingly surrender the power of the Morphin' Masters.
  • Javi rocking out on his guitar in the epilogue, after several episodes of questioning whether or not he would be able to do so with his prosthetic arm.
