Awesome / Of Elder Scrolls and Huntsmen: Dragon Rose

Go To

  • It's a quiet moment compared to many of the others, but after seeing the twin moons in Nirn's sky, Weiss is near hysterical, Blake is in shock, and Yang is in despair. Ruby Rose then steps up and proves exactly why she was chosen as RWBY's leader, immediately comforting her team and calmly and confidently planning their next steps, with the utmost assurance they will see Remnant again.
  • While his actions are later outstripped by the many, many feats RWBY and other characters perform, a Dunmer mage gives the girls their first taste of magic by immolating a troll before their eyes with a Flames spell. This is followed up by an injured Bosmer's gash being healed in seconds with an alchemical ointment and her bones healed in minutes with a potion. All of this hammers home to the girls the awesome potency of the Aurbis' magic (though they don't recognize it as magic yet) and that, while technologically primitive compared to Remnant, the people of Tamriel's offensive capabilities can rival that of Huntsmen and their medical accomplishments outshine anything Remnant has to offer.
  • Dark though the moment was, the starving vampire Team RWBY fight on their first quest is actually able to fight Yang (even doing what few have have accomplished and staggering the berserker), Blake, and Ruby to a standstill. Weiss then gets her own moment of awesome when she, weak and whoozy with blood loss, impales the undead monster from behind through its heart.
  • On an errand to Helgen, Team RWBY arrive just in time for Alduin's return in all his terrible glory. Nothing in RWBY's arsenal can scratch him, with even Ruby's strongest ammo, designed to punch through an Ancient Death Stalker's carapace, not even scratching his scales. Yang shrugs off Alduin's Fire Breath but is frozen by his Frost Breath, and only escapes getting smashed to pieces thanks to Ruby's tackle. The girls only manage to escape into the fort thanks to Weiss' slowing Alduin down by creating "sticky" icicles (a combination of Ice Dust, Fire Dust, Lightning Dust, and a time glyph) that she and Ruby came up with to freeze up Alduin's wings.
  • Blake wants none of Sven and Faendal's less-than-honorable schemes to win Camilla's heart and reveals to Camilla that both of the men had forged letters purportedly by the other to ruin their rival's chances.
  • Weiss managing to perform her first spell. It's rather meagre lightning spell, but she's from a world where magic doesn't exist note  and she's only been in Nirn a week at that point.
  • Uncomfortable with handing the captured bandits of Bleak Falls Barrow over to the authorities who will execute them, Ruby orders them to leave the area around Riverwood. When one bandit muses about taking their banditry to Falkreath, Ruby makes it very clear that's not an option by smashing Crescent Rose's head against the ground, cracking stone.
  • The last draugr in Bleak Falls Barrow serves as a check to Team RWBY's overconfidence after having mowed down the other draugr in the barrow. Wielding a frost sword and the Unrelenting Force shout, and demonstrating superior combat prowess compared to the other draugr, this final foe puts up a spirited defense before RWBY is able to take him down.
  • Weiss terrifying a Daedra into passing on a message to Ruby and Yang about the Dark Brotherhood being after them.
  • When presented an opportunity by Falion to cure her vampirism at the cost of condemning an unlucky soul to Molag Bal, Weiss refuses to sacrifice her morals to regain her humanity, even when her enemy is a terrible bandit. After slaying said bandit, Weiss shatters the Black Soul Gem before it captures his soul.
  • Yang manages to defeat Red Eagle, becoming King of the Reach and preventing a bloody conflict.
  • Ruby using the Kyne's Peace Shout to calm down a mob that was planning to attack a captive dragon.
  • While also a Tearjerker, Kodlak's death is this. Already injured from an earlier battle with 3 dragons, slowly dying of what Yang diagnoses as lung cancer, and faced with a mob of Silver Hand attacking from ambush, the Harbinger of the Companions goes down swinging, dying not as a beast, but as a Nord.
  • Upon encountering a dragon trapped in the Dwemer city for centuries and suffering from Go Mad from the Isolation, Ruby proceeds to literally Shout him back to sanity. Also a heartwarming moment.
