    As Dean Ambrose
  • At Extreme Rules 2013, Dean Ambrose defeated Kofi Kingston to win the United States Championship, his first WWE title. He would go to defend the title for 351 days until May 5, 2014, becoming the longest reigning US Champion under the WWE banner and overall the third longest in the title's history.
  • Going toe-to-toe on the mic with the Hot Rod himself during Old School Raw on 01/06/14. Reigns gets in a nice burn, but the majority of the segment is Ambrose proving that he's Piper's Spiritual Successor when it comes to promos and head games.
  • On Monday Night Raw, 12/1/2016, Dean Ambrose becomes the first person to make the normally stoic Bray Wyatt to suffer a Villainous Breakdown by destroying Wyatt's rocking chair.
  • Time-after-time after coming short of winning a championship since the Shield broke up, Dean finally wins the Intercontinental Championship at TLC 2015 by pinning Kevin Owens.
    • Dean is practically Kevin Owens' poison. Since his debut in NXT, Owens had destroyed everyone in his path including the likes of John Cena. However, not once Owens is able to defeat Ambrose in a singles match cleanly with the sole exception being an episode of SmackDown 2015 where Owens faked being hit by a low blow in order to get Ambrose disqualified and leave the arena the coward he is.
  • The 2016 Royal Rumble. Nobody looked stronger than Ambrose that night. He opened the PPV with an absolutely brutal Last Man Standing match against Kevin Owens to retain his Intercontinental Championship. Then, even after all the punishment he took, he still entered the Rumble halfway through and made it to the final two. By that point, Orlando was marking out hard for him. Even though he didn't win, this cemented Ambrose as a rising star and future World Champion.
  • WWE Roadblock. His title match with Triple H was one of the early forerunners for Match of the Year. In fact, Dean at one point got a full pin on Hunter and the only reason he wasn't world champion is because his foot was supposedly under the ropes. Even though he lost, Dean further established his cred as a future world champion.
  • "Take me to Suplex City, BABY!". Sure Ambrose fails to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, but you have to give points for someone who is willing to stand up to the Beast.
    • On the Road to WrestleMania, Ambrose is even supported by Terry Funk and Mick Foley who effectively pass him their signature weapon, which also symbolize these two legends Passing the Torch to him.
  • The 2016 Money in the Bank:
    • Winning the Money in the Bank match and then in that same night, cashing in on Seth Rollins, who had just beaten Roman Reigns clean for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It only takes Ambrose nine seconds to nail Rollins with Dirty Deeds for the pin to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion and finally exact retribution for Rollins' betrayal of the Shield two years ago.
    • On the go-home show before the event, Dean had hosted both Seth and Roman on his Ambrose Asylum segment and outright posited that if he won the MITB ladder match, he could very well cash in on the wi…okay, let's just say it, he openly called EXACTLY what he just did. At the time he said it, it was a nice dream to mention, but that's just it; in the eyes of many, it was all a dream. Aside from the fact that outright telegraphed future events in wrestling rarely go as promised, how many times had Dean gotten world championship title shots, entered situations with title implications also involving Seth and Roman, even stood tall above them in shows leading to major matches, only to come up short or get the shaft each time when it counted? NOT THIS TIME!
    • Here's a double-sweetener for Ohio sports fans. Ambrose is from the cold streets of Cincinnati, making him an Ohio-based sports entitynote , and he won a world title the night of June 19, 2016. You know what other Ohio-based sports entity can say the exact same? The NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Akron native LeBron James. In their own personal moment of awesome, the Cavs completed the first comeback from 3-1 down in NBA Finals history by beating the 73-9note  Golden State Warriors in game 7 and being crowned NBA Champions in the Warriors' own building, avenging last year's defeat. Coupled with Ambrose's victory only minutes later, the entire state of Ohio has plenty of reason to celebrate.
    • A triple-sweetener of sorts for fans of the former Shield; now all three members have held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. On top of that, each man held the title within a span of 5 minutes. Not even Evolution, the nWo, or the Four Horsemen can claim that part!
  • Ambrose's edging-into-a-Worked Shoot promo against Rollins on Raw July 11, 2016. Not only does Dean call out wrestlers like CM Punk and others who have left the company, he reminds Seth (and the audience) of his indy background and their real-life close bond:
"You, of all people, know the buckets of blood I've spilled, how many body parts I've lost. You out of everyone know the mile of crap I've crawled through to get here. So let me ask you a question, brotha - if I was willing to go through all of that to get this, how far do you think I'd be willing to go to keep it?"
  • He defended the WWE Championship not once, not twice, but three times during the week of July 18-24, 2016. On the July 18th edition of Raw, both he and Seth Rollins had each other's shoulders square on the mat when the referee counted the pinfall, so the referee ruled the match a draw; and since Rollins failed to win, Ambrose remained champion. They then had a rematch the following night on SmackDown, in which Ambrose pinned Rollins clean. Then, finally, at Battleground, Ambrose pinned Roman Reigns clean in the long-anticipated Shield Triple Threat match after breaking up Reigns's pin attempt on Rollins. If Dean Ambrose isn't a fighting champion, then no one is. And to cap it off, John Cena leads the SmackDown locker down to the ring to celebrate with Dean. He even hugs him, in a move that's clearly him passing the torch to WWE's newest superstar.
  • SmackDown Live, 9/20/16. The main event is Ambrose vs. John Cena. Ambrose wins. CLEAN.note  Kicking out of the Attitude Adjustment in the process. And it impressed General Manager Daniel Bryan enough to give him his one-on-one rematch for the WWE World Championship against AJ Styles on next week's episode!
    • Followed up by a fiery promo he gave in his appearance on Talking Smack following that episode in which he talks about John Cena, AJ Styles, and how much work he devotes to the WWE, even making a convincing case that he, not Cena or Styles, is the true "face that runs the place" now. Seen here.
  • The 10-4 Smackdown had another vicious verbal attack on Cena, where he repeats a few of the Talking Smack comments to Cena's face, and refuses to let Cena get a word in edgewise.
  • There was a very subtle one made apparent early into the 10/18/16 episode of SmackDown Live. AJ Styles had a title match that night against Ensemble Dark Horse jobber James Ellsworth, who the week before had gone over on AJ when Dean was guest referee (see the Funny Moments page for the details on that). When AJ was interviewed early in the episode, he spent the whole thing worried about where Dean was and where he would be when it came time for the match. You could tell that Dean managed to do exactly what he wanted to do — get into AJ's mind and make him paranoid.
  • 2017 started out good for Ambrose. On the first episode of SmackDown Live of the year, he defeated The Miz to capture his second Intercontinental Championship. Throughout the match, he survives Miz's usual dirty tactics, including a being hit by a Skull Crushing Finale and the title belt. And when the Miz's wife, Maryse, tries to get her husband disqualified by slapping his opponent, Dean manages to persuade the referee to evict her out of the arena instead.
  • On the 5/15/17 edition of RAW, during their match for the Intercontinental Championship, Miz again uses Maryse as his shield while Ambrose was perched on the top rope with the intention of diving over his challenger. Dean called their bluff and dove anyway in true Lunatic Fringe fashion, with Maryse abandoning her husband for her own safety.
  • Summerslam 2017: Dean and Seth Rollins defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the Raw Tag Team Championship. With this, Ambrose becomes the first member of the Shield to win all eligible titles in both Triple Crown and Grand Slam Championship. Moreso becoming the youngest ever Grand Slam Champion.
  • At 2017's No Mercy, Dean and Seth were defending their Raw Tag Team Championship against Sheamus and Cesaro in what was ultimately the match of the night. Toward the end of the match, though, Dean took not only a White Noise from Sheamus, but also had Seth powerbombed onto him from the top rope by Cesaro. And yet, Dean SOMEHOW not only managed to kick out, but ended up scoring the match-winning pinfall. Both in and out of kayfabe, Dean is Made of Iron. Also at the event, Dean flipped Cesaro into the ring post and broke his teeth which was a highlight of the match.
  • After returning to action after eight months on the shelf, Dean provided backup to his Shield brother Seth Rollins in his Intercontinental title match at Summerslam 2018. While pre-rehab Dean was a threat due to his unpredictable "lunatic" persona, post-rehab Dean has put on about 20 pounds of pure muscle, becoming such a physical threat that even 6'6" 290-pound Drew McIntyre backed down when faced with an irate Ambrose. He introduced an impressive new setup to Dirty Deeds the next night, lifting Dolph Ziggler onto his shoulder, then into the air, and finally performing the DDT. Welcome back, Lunatic Fringe.
  • His WWE Chronicle episode, a kayfabe documentary covering his return and the events leading to his Face–Heel Turn on October 22, 2018. Ambrose's acting was so compelling and made him so relatable that many fans admitted they didn't know how they were going to boo him after that.
  • The Shield's interview with Michael Cole before their match at WWE Fastlane 2019 starts pretty normally. A nice bittersweet callback to their first interview with Michael back in 2012 but as Michael works his way to the final question Ambrose stops him and just goes off.
Ambrose: Eight years ago I walked into this casino and now I'm cashing in my chips and I'm walking away from the table. I won the game. And what I do for the rest of my life from here on out, is my business. I answer to no one. This time the million dollar man didn't get what he wanted 'cause I can't be bought.
    • Doubly awesome because Ambrose managed to foreshadow his return outside of WWE as Jon Moxley while still being under contract in WWE!
    • Also crosses over with Funny/The Shield because of Reigns and Rollins' sheepish reactions after he storms off camera before following after him promptly ending the interview.
    As Jon Moxley
  • At April 30th, 2019, his contract with WWE was over. At midnight on May 1st, 2019, he escaped the prison and was free, reborn as Jon Moxley once again.
  • Jon Moxley's debut at the conclusion of All Elite Wrestling's grand opening show, Double or Nothing. Fresh off Chris Jericho's main event victory over Kenny Omega, Moxley walked in through the crowd in a play off the classic Shield entrance, then hit Jericho and the referee with his trademark double-underhook DDT, before brawling with Omega up the stage. Moxley would hit Omega with his finishing DDT right on the giant poker chips on the stage, before dumping him off into the floor below. The crowd went absolutely nuts for Mox the entire time.
  • Finally, on the Talk is Jericho episode titled "The Emancipation of Jon Moxley", Mox proceeded to go through the Creative Differences that drove him up the wall with WWE and Vince McMahon to the point he felt he had to leave, becoming both physically fatigued and mentally exhausted with having to compromise between common-sense compelling storytelling and appeasing Vince's eccentricities over the whole 6+ years he spent on the main roster. While extremely similar to CM Punk's tell-all podcast regarding his departure several years earlier, Moxley's interview held a couple of key differences. Not only was he more openly grateful to the opportunities he got in WWE to build his brand, grow as a person, meet the love of his life, and put himself in position to flourish with his newfound creative freedom after leaving, the quote below proves that he also did not hold onto bitterness with WWE to the point of losing his passion for wrestling.
Moxley: People are gonna really get into this, uh, "Everybody wants the Monday Night Wars back, and everybody's gonna wanna have this big Monday Night War between AEW and WWE." My leaving WWE exists outside of that. Whether AEW exists or not, I was still leaving WWE. It's good to know the wrestling business is doing so well outside of WWE, but even if it wasn't, I still would've left. If there was no other promotions to work for in the world, I still would've left WWE. If there were no other wrestlers, I would've just started my own promotion, started my own training school, and trained my own opponents. I would've re-seated the wrestling business from scratch if I had to.
    • While the interview itself was a Moment of Awesome, it also revealed another one. During the Dean Ambrose Face–Heel Turn storyline against Seth Rollins, he did several pretapes as part of an angle on the November 19, 2018 episode of Raw where he would be playing mind games with Rollins, concluding with a heated brawl at the end of the night. Prior to the show, he was so caught up in getting a "pooper scooper" line removed from the scripts for that night's vignettes that by the time he noticed a line in which he would suggest that Roman Reigns' real-life leukemia was Laser-Guided Karma for the character's sins ("I mean, look at Roman. For Roman's part, for what Roman did in The Shield, he has to answer to the man upstairs."), Vince only needed a short conversation to stall his objections with the logic that it was simply to implicate Reigns as part of the motive for the turn, and the aforementioned line made it to TV. Mox described feeling physically ill as soon as said line came out of his mouth, refusing to celebrate with everyone else after the show was over; this was the moment his decision to leave the company was 100% set in stone. The following week Vince asked him directly to make yet another reference regarding Reigns and his leukemia, one even more directly offensive than the previous one, in the midst of a backstage scene which was already questionable in and of itself*, and justified it as a great idea for heel heat. This, however, was where Moxley, who to this point had spent years trying to get Vince to drop certain ideas for the Ambrose character that he felt were stupid but ultimately going along and trying to make the best out of them, finally put his foot down and absolutely refused to play Vince's game regarding that particular line. He felt the line was so bad it could've cost the company all its cancer-related partnerships and Vince would've had to fire him on the spot to save face, not to mention horribly disrespectful to one of his real life best friends. To this day he refuses to say what the line was publicly, offering to tell Jericho off the record after the podcast.
    • One particularly understated moment of awesome in the interview came when Moxley was talking about how he rejected his new WWE contract without even looking at it, because it didn't matter to him how much they were offering. But then he wondered to himself: what if they offered him ten million dollars, "like a Brock contract"? His answer to that hypothetical showed that, despite his frequent portrayal as a broken man with mental damage, Jonathan Good is a very sensible, grounded, mature man.
Moxley: What am I going to do with ten million dollars? I-I have- My truck is paid off, my house is paid off, my mother's house is paid off... I got everything I need! What am I gonna do with ten million dollars, am I gonna go buy a Maserati? Y'know, I don't live like that.
  • For weeks, there were vignettes in New Japan Pro-Wrestling about someone coming to the company to take out IWGP United States Champion Juice Robinson. Moxley proceeded to shock the wrestling world once again via his personal Twitter with a vignette confirming that he was that man, and that he would be competing at NJPW's Best of Super Juniors 26 finals show against Robinson for the title. (Like Chris Jericho his AEW contract would allow him to be booked at international promotions.) On June 5, 2019, less than two weeks removed from his appearance at Double or Nothing, Moxley competed in his first post-WWE match in Ryogoku Hall in Japan. Taking on Robinson, it was a visceral affair, with weapons everywhere and a bloody Juice. Moxley eventually took the win after hitting Robinson with a lifting double arm DDT, capturing the IWGP United States Championship in the process. Yes, Moxley won a title in his first match since leaving WWE.
  • His long awaited AEW debut match against Joey Janela, an man who has the insanity level that rivals Moxley himself. The match itself is more of a big brutal brawl rather than a standard wrestling match.
    • Moxley using a chair strapped with "sharp wires" putting it on top of Janela. and steps on them.
    • Joey slamming Moxley into a table again that is strapped with wires. Which Moxley retaliates by slamming Joey into another table with sharpwires, from the ring on to the table.. AA style. (John Cena will be so proud).
    • The Finish? Moxley gets a bucket that has what appears to be a bag in it. Moxley took the bag and dumps all the thumbtacks all over the ring!. He proceed to slam Janela's foot on them and then use Death Rider ON THE THUMBTACKS..injuring himself and Janela in the process to get the win.
    • Props to Janela who despite being bloody and beaten, still asking for more as if all of Moxley's attack has no effect on him.
  • Moxley vs Tomohiro Ishii. It earned him his first 5 star match.
  • Jon Moxley vs Tetsuya Naito. Showing Moxley pulling off moves that the old Dean Ambrose has never done, including a top rope BUTTERFLY SUPLEX.
    • For long time Moxley fans, there is also a moment where Mox uses all his old finisher forms from since he was in WWE. Front DDT (the original form), The double arm DDT (dirty deeds), and finally after Naito still kicks out, he uses his new and deadly finisher DEATHRIDER, to finally put Naito down!.
  • While he didn't win, something has to be said on Moxley's G1 campaign. He beat Tomohiro Ishii in an incredible hard hitting bout that earned him a 5 star rating from Meltzer, tapped out The Dragon, Shingo Takagi, and defeating Tetsuya Naito in an awesome match. If anything, despite being a newbie on the roster, Moxley proves that he is in the same league (if not higher) as NJPW's top stars. Keep in mind, this is the guy WWE ignored in favour of his two buddies, and now he's the first of the trio to earn a 5 star match from Meltzer. Eat your heart out Vince.
  • Mox making his return from the staph infection that kept him out for weeks by attacking Kenny Omega and hitting him with a Paradigm Shift through a glass table on the first episode of AEW Dynamite.
  • the team of Jon Moxley and PAC take on the team of Kenny Omega and Hangman Page the team of Jon Moxley and PAC on the October 16th, 2019 episode of Dynamite. Seems pretty straightforward, two singles feuds being booked in a tag match. But the whole mood changes when PAC pushes Mox around too much. In response, Moxley gives PAC a two finger salute and a Paradigm Shift for his troubles, showing that Jon Moxley isn't taking shit from anyone.
  • Mox has been on a tear in AEW. He is, at this writing, currently undefeated in singles competition (non-sanctioned matches non-withstanding), with a draw against PAC being the only match he hasn't won.
  • Omega and Moxley each with a weapon coated in barb wire look ready to go on the November 6th, 2019 episode of Dynamite when they are attacked by Ortiz and Santana who pick up the weapons only for The Young Bucks to hit the ring and deliver Superkicks to them.
  • Following from the above, there is the match that re-cemented Moxley as one of the most badass and dangerous men in wrestling: his non-sanctioned match against Kenny Omega at Full Gear. A forty-eight minute war that saw both men pull out all the stops. Highlights include Moxley slamming Omega onto a board of mouse traps, Omega putting Mox in a Sharpshooter, forcing Moxley to crawl to the ropes...through broken glass shards. Moxley suplexing Kenny off the entrance ramp onto a trampoline bed made of barbwire, Omega putting Moxley through the set with a V-Trigger, Kenny using the Paradigm Shift on Moxley on the exposed wooden canvas of the ring, then attempting a Phoenix Splash that saw him land face first onto said canvas before Mox hit him with a final Paradigm Shift to end the bloody feud between the two of them.
  • Jon Moxley at the beginning of the November 13th, 2019 episode of Dynamite after winning issues an open challenge for anyone on the AEW Roster to face him after what he did to Omega at Full Gear. Later on in the night, someone who's just as psychotic as he is answers the challenge, Darby Allin!
  • Jon Moxley's open challenge is accepted on the December 4th, 2019 episode of Dynamite by Joey Janela. Having a sanctioned match this time around, the two don't disappoint as Janela goes against Moxley. The Bad Boy shows he can hang when he dives from the top rope and crashes onto Moxley through the time keeper's table. But Moxley endures and hits a Paradigm Shift, this time on the top turnbuckle and then another to score the win.
  • Jon Moxley and Lance Archer's Texas Deathmatch at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 Night 1. Archer at one point tries to suffocate Moxley with a plastic bag wrapped around his head but Moxley fights out and hits the Death Rider on Archer through a series of tables to put him down for the 10 count
  • Pac wins the Main Event of AEW Bash at the Beach 2020 and proclaims himself the number one contender to the AEW World Title to face Chris Jericho. But Jon Moxley who despite earlier having been jabbed right in the eye with a spike by Chris Jericho, with a bloody eye appears and claims that he will be at the show next week and will beat Pac.
  • Jon Moxley vs Pac on Chris Jericho's cruise to decide who faces Jericho for The AEW World Championship.
  • The following week when confronted by The Inner Circle as well as some extra hired thugs, why does Moxley do? He decides that Jericho didn't bring enough men and immediately launches himself onto them
  • Jon Moxley gets revenge on The Inner Circle after they blinded him on the February 5th, 2020 episode of Dynamite by taking note of an Eye for An Eye by jabbing Santana in the eye with car keys returning the favor.
  • Jon Moxley vs Minoru Suzuki. Elbows, brawling, brutality. It has to be seen to be believed. It is clear that Suzuki is better at everything compared to Mox, and yet that didn't stop him from fighting to the very end against The King and winning
  • Jon Moxley vs Jeff Cobb: Cobb instantly makes his presence to those who don't know him known by tossing Moxley around with suplexes and slams. And Moxley showing he's not just brawler manages to win by catching Cobb in a pin.
  • Beating Chris Jericho at AEW Revolution to finally unseat him and become the second ever AEW World Champion. The match climaxes with Moxley, blinded in his remaining good eye by Jericho (after Jericho had stabbed him in the right eye weeks earlier), pulling the eyepatch off his supposedly injured eye to reveal that it had already healed and take advantage of Jericho's shock to hit a second Paradigm Shift and finally put an end to le Champion's obnoxious reign.
    • And let's not forget that at the same time Moxley became the AEW World Champion, he is also the NJPW United States Champion! A double champion across two of the biggest non-WWE companies on two different continents- life is good for Jon Moxley!
  • Defeating Jake Hager on the April 15th episode of All Elite Wrestling Dynamite. With Hager's defeat Moxley has now beaten every member of the Inner Circle, a feat no-one else in AEW can claim.
  • His match with Frankie Kazarian was an awesome one. Frankie manages to stay one step ahead of Mox move for move, but in the end, Mox was the one standing tall. Until Brodie Lee intervened, setting up a feud between them.
  • After Brodie Lee stole the AEW championship belt and claimed it as his, let's just say Mox was pissed. Later, Brodie Lee sent his one of his henchmen, 10, to a match against Mox, and Moxley absolutely destroyed him, ending the show by breaking 10's arm with a chair.
  • His match with Brodie Lee. Moxley promised that he will bring a hailstorm of violence against Brodie Lee as payback for stealing his belt... and he didn't lie. Near the end of a hard-hitting, brutal war of a match, Moxley gave Brodie a Paradigm Shift on the entrance and managed to send them both crashing straight through the ramp, leaving Brodie Lee bleeding from his forehead. When The Exalted One still kicked out after all that, Moxley went berserk. He started punching and kneeing Brodie's bloodied head viciously, before delivering another elevated Paradigm Shift and putting a choke hold on the leader of the Dark Order that rendered him unconscious to finally defeat him.
Tony Schiavone: We have never seen a world title match like this, ever!
  • Jon Moxley swiftly setting the record straight to Taz and Brian Cage on the June 3rd, 2020 episode of Dynamite after his perceived dismissiveness of their upcoming title match for Fyter Fest the previous week. He picks Taz's talking points apart with almost surgeon-like precision making it very clear why he's the top champion in AEW.
Moxley: You are swimming with a different breed of shark. With all due respect, gentleman! Don't waste your time or mine trying to intimidate me. And the next time you wanna bring my name up on TV just remember exactly who the hell you're talking about!
  • At AEW Fight for the Fallen 2020, after over a month and due the match being rescheduled, Jon Moxley finally faces Brian Cage. Cage uses his power to overwhelm at first but Moxley shows he's more than just a brawler as he attacks Cage's arm, applying different submissions and holds onto it gradually damaging The Machine's arm. He finally wears Cage down and locks in an armbreaker submission leaving Cage nowhere to go and forcing Taz to throw in the towel to save his client's career.
  • In The Main Event of the July 29, 2020 Dynamite, a Torando Tag, it appears that Jon Moxley will have to go it alone against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks as his partner Darby Allin is nowhere to be seen looking like he had been taken out beforehand. But when Cage and Starks make their entrance in what is now appears to be a handicap match, Darby appears on top of the stage and delivers a Coffin Drop right onto both of them.
  • Jon Moxley vs Darby Allin for The AEW World Championship on the August 6, 2020 Dynamite, despite Moxley yelling at him to stay down and quit, Darby refuses to give up the entire match.
  • MJF is cutting a promo in the middle of the ring on the August 13, 2020 Dynamite when Moxley's music hits and he orders Wardlow and his other goons to go up the stands to cut him off as Moxley always comes from there. But Moxley is one step ahead as instead he comes out through the entrance way leaving MJF all alone with him unaware he's behind him. Cue beatdown from The champ and MJF laid out ten seconds later.
  • Jon's promo on MJF on the August 22, 2020 episode of Dynamite, where he manages to not only put over his opponent, but still keep up his image as a badass, telling MJF he would actually like for his foe to be the face of the this company for the next 25 years, thinking he himself would be lucky to keep going for 18 months and that in their upcoming match, they'll see MJF for who he truly is.
  • After Moxley dropped him with the Paradigm Shift above, MJF started campaigning to have the move banned from their upcoming championship match at All Out, complete with MJF's lawyer, Mark Sterling, threatening to sue him if he doesn't agree to the stipulation. MJF continued to poke the bear during their contract signing, including a crack at Moxley's wife, but ultimately Mox calmed down. He then pointed out that simply removing one move from his arsenal doesn't make him incapable of beating MJF, but it will force him to "get creative" in how he'll hurt and beat him. He signed the contract, and while MJF and Sterling celebrated his "stupidity" at doing so, Moxley then dropped the bomb, thanking them for not objecting to what he added on page 17— that he would be facing Sterling the following week (Paradigm Shift completely legal), and if he doesn't show up, then MJF doesn't get his title match. By doing so, he completely turned things around on his challenger, and further proved that he's more than just a "garbage wrestler."
  • In the main event of AEW All Out 2020: AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs Challenger MJF. Despite the odds stacked against him, Moxley outsmarts MJF by hitting his banned finisher while the referee is distracted and retains and puts the first ever singles loss on MJF's record. It was a particular display of savviness from Moxley who, realising that Wardlow had distracted the ref to throw MJF his Dynamite Diamond Ring, decided that if MJF was going to cheat then he was perfectly justified in cheating first.
    • After the match while celebrating, Moxley spots his next challenger, Lance Archer in the crowd. Undaunted and unafraid he flips him off daring him to come try and take the belt.
  • On the September 16, 2020 episode of Dynamite, Jake Roberts and Lance Archer announce that they've cut a deal with Tazz for his stable to be Archer's partners for next week's 6-man tag against Jon Moxley. Moxley appears, only to be attacked by Ricky Starks and Brian Cage from the crowd, leading to the newly signed Will Hobbs to make the rescue with chair in hand to drive them away. Moxley then reveals that Hobbs will be on his team for the match and calls out his other partner through the camera, someone who has plenty of scores to settle with Tazz and his men, Darby Allin
  • on the September 23, 2020 episode of Dynamite, the original planned Main Event was to be a Six man tag, but due to Covid Lance Archer had to pull out of the show. Instead, AEW improvises and The Main Event is Jon Moxley vs Eddie Kingston in an absolute banger for The World Title.
  • Jon Moxley, on the September 30, 2020 episode of Dynamite, hitting the ring with his barbed-wire baseball bat to save Bryce Remsburg, the referee for Moxley's previous title defense against Eddie Kingston, from a beatdown at the hands of Kingston and his cronies The Lucha Bros.
  • Before they face at Full Gear, Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston have a face to face interview, each giving a passionate promo about how much their match Saturday means to them and the paths they took.
  • Jon Moxley vs Eddie Kingston, in the main event of AEW Full Gear, in a match that consists of two words and five letters, "I Quit".
    • In the end, Moxley goes beyond the norm to end the match: he wraps barbed wire around his arm and locks in a chokehold on Eddie, not only cutting off his air but grinding the wire against his throat and jaw, forcing Eddie in tears to finally say it.
  • Moxley teaming up with PAC and Rey Fenix to take on Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers at AEW Beach Break 2021 in an absolute barn burner of a six man tag, which receives a 4.5 stars from Dave Meltzer.
  • Moxley teaming up with Lance Archer to take on Kenny Omega and KENTA on the February 10, 2021 episode of Dynamite in a wild falls count anywhere match that went all throughout the arena.
  • Jon Moxley vs Kenta for the IWGP United States Championship. Moxley since the Covid Pandemic has been unable to defend the belt leaving it in obscurity for over a year. Kenta earned the right to face him for it and even went to All Elite Wrestling to issue his challenge for him and at last on the February 26th Episode of New Japan Strong, the two go at it with Moxley showing everyone why he is the Champ.
  • In the first time in a Major US Company, an Exploding Barbed Wired Deathmatch is held in The Main Event of AEW Revolution 2021 between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega.
    • During the match Omega seems to have Moxley pinned after hitting the One Winged Angel (which NOBODY is allowed to kick out of) and is going to win, only for Moxley to kick one of the ropes to set off an explosion that blinds Omega, breaking the pinfall.
