• Hiccup telling the vikings of Berk to shut up in a loud voice, startling them into silence.
• Astrid telling everybody her experience with the freed dragons and giving credibility to Hiccup, shocking everyone who doesn't know what she knows, which is nearly everyone in Berk, that took a lot of courage on her part to speak out against the village.
• In Chapter 39, Hiccup has no choice but to confront the demon/Green Death, which led to a great fight sequence.
