Awesome / Heavy Metal

• Taarna is full of awesome, she is stunningly beautiful, but also very intelligent and brave, not to mention brutal when it comes to fighting. And her mount is possibly even more awesome.
• The ending, when the Loc-Nar is defeated and its would-be victim becomes a heroine and flies away on the reborn mount.
• The beginning of the movie where the first thing you see is a quiet scene of the space shuttle. Then it stops in orbit around a planet, and the bottom side slowly opens up. Cue Radar Rider by Riggs and a white Corvette falling from space, surviving atmospheric entry with only a dirty windshield, and landing with a speed-chute, before going full throttle into the desert. The animation is somewhat limited but it's just so stylish and cool that it doesn't matter.
• Sadly very little of the actual animation qualifies as awesome, but the Taarna sequence does have some impressive design, and even uses a multiplane effect in some shots (although this is occasionally marred by the different planes failing to move in unison).
