"Let's light 'em up!"
"Like dynamite!"

     In General
  • Many of the party's synergy abilities count, with Tifa's in particular tending to be extremely chaotic. Especially noteworthy:
    • The page image shows Aerith and Barret's "Sweet-and-Sour Salvo" attack, where both pose after putting on Cool Shades before blasting the target with a hail of magic and bullets respectively.
    • "Divine Punishment": Aerith creates a magical shield, which Tifa bounces off like a human pinball, smashing into the enemy repeatedly.
    • "Halcyon Descent": Cloud and Yuffie attack in tandem, before she drops a giant bomb on the enemy, causing an explosion which is so large that it knocks her off balance (until Cloud catches her).
    • "Call of the Wild": Tifa briefly drops to all fours, before both her and Red charge into the enemy in a massive combined whirlwind.
  • Parrying an attack at the right time will negate all damage. This is awesome of its own accord, especially when you have characters repeatedly parry attacks like they're Neo. Combine that with using other materia like the HP<>MP materia to quickly charge the Limit Break gauge, and the results kind of speak for themselves here.

Chapter 1: Fall of a Hero
  • The opening gives you A Taste of Power by playing as Zack, who effortlessly mows down Shinra troops with guns and flamethrowers sent to stop him. On top of that, he even uses his SOLDIER-enhanced Super-Strength to throw a pipe at a helicopter to bring it down. Now consider that, in the ending of Remake within Zack's timeline, he had just fought of hundreds of Shinra troops by himself, then carried Cloud into Midgar. Yet he's such a Determinator to save Aerith that he still goes out to fight, and wins with little effort. Zack is a One-Man Army.

Chapter 2: A New Journey Begins

    Chapter 3: Deeper into Darkness
  • When the party overcome the Turks, Tseng shows up to protect his colleagues. After a bit of back and forth, Elena sets off the grenade she was holding, then proceeds to drop it and bounce it on her heel, her knee and then kick it at the party before Red XIII deflects it (all before the timer runs out).

Chapter 4: Dawn of a New Era
  • Caught by the commander of Midgar's 7th Infantry and her adjunct, Cloud is forced to demonstrate his skills of the rifle drill, consisting of a complex series of rifle twirls. While Cloud has some familiarity with the routine due to his time as an infantryman, not only do Aerith and Tifa—who have no such familiarity—keep up with him, they impress the commander enough that Cloud is promoted from tardy grunt to parade captain right on the spot.
  • After this you actually are then put in charge of the parade formations and routines. Each of these is professionally done, and are worthy of an actual military parade in real life (which require pinpoint precision and difficult timing), even if you only do fairly well the reporter watching you gets so into it she accidentally runs into some onlookers.
  • When Cloud is about to do his "security sweep" to Larboard Junon, 5 troopers of the 7th Infantry show up. The leader of the bunch hands Cloud the Buster Sword. Note that the trooper in question isn't a mako-enhanced superhuman, and he's still capable of holding Cloud's heavy sword with one hand.

    Chapter 6: Fool's Paradise

    Chapter 9: The Planet Stirs
  • When he sees his allies are in danger in the Gongaga reactor, Cloud—under Sephiroth's influence—cuts loose and mows down entire platoons of Shinra troopers while effortlessly evading their gunfire.
  • The two awakened Weapons putting up a fight with Sephiroth and his Black Whispers inside the Lifestream. It's clear the Planet is taking more drastic measures to ensure that whatever the fallen hero has in store won't come to pass very easily.
    • One of the Weapons is attacked by Sephiroth, and while he's able to cut into its shoulder, his sword gets stuck and even forcing it through with both hands only leaves a shallow cut. This prompts Sephiroth to lose his composure and visibly panic, the first time he's ever been portrayed doing so.
  • What does Barret do when Cloud had initially slashed at Tifa during one of his hallucinatory episodes and is now sitting in a daze not doing anything? Slap him across the face then tell him to get it together because everyone is still in danger, particularly Tifa. This ends up working.

Chapter 11: The Long Shadow of Shinra
  • It's basically a fight clean out of a survival-horror game, but Cait Sith having to fend off Yin and Yang by himself tells the player how well Reeve made his robotic alter-ego.
  • It's part depressing since he's a future ally, but Vincent's reimagined Galian Beast form is powerful enough to put up a very challenging fight against the whole party, and can even potentially overwhelm them with its lightning fast and powerful attacks.

Chapter 13: Where Angels Fear to Tread
  • In the middle of Cloud's fight with the Turks, he is immediately hurled off the platform by Rude and would have died if not for Aerith using her powers to save him from falling.
  • A Sephiroth Clone turns into Sephiroth and impales Tseng. As he gloats to the party that they will soon join him, Tseng shuts him up by shooting him in the back, killing the clone. It is awesome seeing Sephiroth's smug face change to This Cannot Be! right before his body dies. Then Tseng just walks off getting impaled and leaves.
  • Cait Sith pulls a Heroic Sacrifice so the party can escape. He observes that the trigger to completely demolish the ancient temple is the pedestal hitting the floor. So, Cait Sith holds up the pedestal, even though the magic-infused stone eventually crushes him.
  • Vincent following the party into the Temple and securing them an escape route when the place begins to fall.
  • Aerith and Tifa try to stop an unhinged Cloud from giving the Black Materia to Sephiroth, and while it may not have made much difference they definitely get a lot of points for trying. While clearly terrified of both how Cloud is acting, and of Sephiroth, Aerith still tries to escape with the Black Materia, until she cannot go any further. Even when cornered, she does not plead for her safety showing her Nerves of Steel, and in fact her only words are expressing concern for Cloud when handing it back over.
  • Despite having his mind heavily corrupted by Sephiroth, the moment Cloud sees Aerith fall he immediately comes back to his senses, and fights off Sephiroth's influence.

Chapter 14: End of the World
  • Cloud manages to actually block Sephiroth's attack—the same one that killed Aerith in the original game—through pure Heroic Willpower, to the point of putting so much brute force into the block that he disarms Sephiroth. Thanks to the timelines getting messed up, it gets muddled, but Cloud still managed to pull it off.
  • Motivated to avenge Aerith, the party unleashes a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on Jenova Lifeclinger right in the middle of a Free-Fall Fight. Each member contributes to the assault with Yuffie (who's no longer scared of Jenova the way she was on the cruise ship) destroying multiple projectiles surrounding them, Red XIII slashing at Jenova and biting its neck, Tifa freezing a projectile headed towards Cloud and sliding down on it to launch several punches of her own, Barret shooting down more of the projectiles before they can hurt anyone else, Cait Sith tossing Barret and Cloud closer towards their target, and Cloud leading both Tifa and Barret to perform coordinated Limit Break attacks on Jenova. What makes it even more impressive is that the entire barrage of attacks ends up dealing 9,999 damage.
  • Zack Fair crossing timelines to battle Sephiroth alongside Cloud. Adding to this is the brief banter between the two as Zack takes note of Cloud's growth in confidence and shows his approval of his friend taking charge in the fight against the One-Winged Angel.
  • An understated awesome moment for Zack.Sephiroth notably abandons his usual taunting and mind games whenever he encounters Zack, first by having the Whispers drag him away, then by taking on him and Cloud in battle, and finally, trapping Zack in a world about to be destroyed by Meteor and manifesting as Sephiroth Reborn. Zack defeating this monstrous form of Sephiroth by himself is its own moment of awesome, but the amount of focus Sephiroth puts on getting rid of Zack specifically indicates how much of a threat Sephiroth considers him to be for two reasons. First, Zack is currently the most direct challenge to him in physical combat, considering he was able to force him to go all-out when they fought on Nibelheim and was the only reason why Cloud was able to beat him at all, showing that while Sephiroth might be dismissive of Zack and their past, even he cannot dismiss the possibility of Zack working with the heroes and creating an even stronger group that could surely defeat him. Secondly, Zack's goodness makes him a Positive Friend Influence to Cloud, thus making him a major roadblock for Sephiroth when it comes to pushing Cloud over the edge.
  • During what is the Final Boss battle against Sephiroth, it looks like Cloud will have to face him one-on-one, until Aerith, or at least an unexplained version of her, joins him in smacking the villain down a peg. Even Sephiroth admits that he's underestimated her, and at the end of it all, he's actually put to a knee and driven off, as Sephiroth takes the first real loss in this timeline well ahead of time.
  • The original game implied at the end that Aerith has a lot of untapped potential, but here the audience gets a firsthand look at her in top form upon receiving a fully functioning and powered up White Materia, thanks to her successful Batman Gambit. She can hijack Whispers, provide support across timelines, and either summoned an avatar, one of her Alternate Timeline selves, or even showed up as a Lifestream ghost to battle Sephiroth at the Edge of Creation. Her Big Entrance alone deserves mention, where she summons her White Whispers to overpower Sephiroth's black ones before stepping into the fray herself, complete with a powerful, slow-motion stride amidst white and rainbow effects, transforming Sephiroth's dark and forlorn world into a field of light just by showing up, as though a goddess has just taken the field, making it loud and clear that she's done playing around and is ready to kick serious ass.
  • The determination and resolution Cloud and especially Aerith show upon staggering Sephiroth. Beware the Nice Ones indeed.
(if Aerith gets the staggering blow)
    Aerith: Let's end this, Cloud!
    Cloud: Alright!

(if Cloud gets the staggering blow)
    Cloud: Aerith! You ready!?
    Aerith: As I'll ever be!
