• Perry, having been shot down and the Marines he was carrying killed by Brutes, pulls his combat knife. Keep in mind his opponent is a Brute Chieftan that is twice his size and has personal shields, and Perry has no idea how to knife-fight. Luckily, the Elites show up before the Chieftan can kill him.
  • Later emphasized when Perry asks Zuka why the Elites keep staring at him.
    Zuka: "Challenging it to single combat, with naught but a simple human blade? Your actions bring you much credit. Many of the Sangheili have been keen to speak with you, but deem it improper to seek an audience with such an accomplished warrior without formal introduction."
• The Sangheli reveal that they were deliberately letting Sarah, a small child, walk in the desert for hours without assistance until she complained. Not only did she exceed how long they thought she would last, but she did so for three times longer. Further, it gains the respect of the Hunter Pair, something that took the shipmaster eleven years to do.
• The previously-innefectual 2LT Brambley suddenly revealing his hidden badassitude and scaring the shit out of an obnoxious Obstructive Bureaucrat.
• The Hunter pair saving a group of human children from a Brute stealth-hunter pack.
• Anything the Sangheili/Elite Rukth 'Kilkar does.
• A Sangheili named Marikos is informed that the human's chaingun turret can't angle up high enough to shoot down enemy Banshees... so he rips it off its hinges, blows some Banshees out of the sky, and proceeds to carry the thing around like nothing for the rest of his time in the campaign.
  Marikos: It seems you have found me a weapon I approve of!
• The Brute-controlled Scarab getting shot in the face point-blank by artillery cannons, right after the Chieftain leading it bragged about being unstoppable.
• The method that the humans use to kill another Brute-controlled Scarab.
• And the method of killing another.
• A minor one in comparison to most of the others in the story, but Abelev saddles up on his own with a bigass shotgun to pull a Big Damn Heroes when some Brute infiltrators go after a civilian shelter. Then, he gets into a Mexican Standoff with a Brute holding a spike grenade despite the fact that he's completely out of ammo.
• Later on, Abelev jams himself with another dose of combat stimulants despite having been awake for several days already to manage the defense of the city. He hesitates for a moment because he has no idea what it'll do to his nervous system, but he knows it won't be good. Then he hears a cry on the comm unit that his men need help.
  Abelev: Fuck it. [doses up and gets back to work]
• The showdown between Elite sniper Zerat and the Jackal sniper "Yik, Slayer of Men", both absurdly-skilled marksmen, and how Zerat kills him.
• The final showdown between Elite Shipmaster Arume and Brute High-Chieftain Torikus.
