- "Map 9: Even Simpler" acts as a sequel to Dead Simple from Doom II and places you into a courtyard to face off against an army of hell. This time, the variety of monsters is even greater and the battles are much more fierce and it's all over once you slay them all. On maximum difficulty, staying alive can be a major problem, but the sense of triumph from winning the battle can be tremendous.
- The ending to the base game can really feel satisfying and has a solid sense of closure for this installment:FINALLY...THE MOTHER OF ALL DEMONSIS DEAD!THE BLOOD POURS FROMYOUR EYES AS YOU STANDIN DEFIANCE.AS THE ONLY MARINE TOENDURE THE SLAUGHTER—YOU DECIDE TO REMAININ HELL AND ENSURE NODEMON EVER RISES AGAIN.THE END.
- What makes this even more awesome is that Doomguy survived. It was assumed that he was killed in action during his onslaught against the demons, but Doom Eternal revealed that he was not only left alive as a psychological wreck, but he still managed to mentally rebound and pull himself back together.
