• The climax of the film has Asuna possessed by Lisa, Morisaki's deceased wife. He's dismayed at what happened but considers her return more important, to the point that when Shin tries to stop him, Morisaki pulls out a knife and tries to kill him. As he's asking why Shin is trying to stop this, Shin sums up the central theme of the movie, breaks free, and frees Asuna.
  Shin: Because the living are more important!
• Asuna being shown to care for herself very efficiently.
• Shin saving Asuna and Mana from the Izoka.
  • In return, Asuna saving Shin and Mana from the fast currents of the river.
• Shin's stand against the guards who were pursuing Morisaki and Asuna. He takes a beating and loses the fight, but still manages to stall the guards long enough they eventually drop the pursuit, once they believe Asuna and Morisaki had gone beyond The Gate.
