Awesome moments from Case Closed volumes 1-20.

    Volumes 1 - 5
  • In Episode 3, Kogoro, being the Jerkass he is, was threatening to beat Conan if he didn't keep his mouth shut. Then Ayumi came to kick him in the shin. Whether you love or hate Kogoro, he was kind of asking for it.
  • Chapter 5: It's pretty awesome that Ran can stop a force hard enough to kill a small child with one arm. And also batter him afterwards.
  • Episode 20: "A Haunted Mansion Murder Case" has Conan unravelling a murder case thought to be a common crime committed by a burglar in the past, that was yet to be solved by the police. Not only that, Conan also manages to persuade the Villain of the Week to turn themselves in. Take note that in this particular case, Conan comes in underprepared as he doesn't think anything dangerous can happen in a normal test of courage, therefore he doesn't bother to carry any useful gadgets other than Elastic Suspender and Voice-altering Bowtie, yet he manages to solves the crime, comes out alive, and saves his friends.

    Volumes 6 - 10
  • Kogoro Mouri is pretty much the Butt-Monkey and Defective Detective, but the end of the Hot Springs Episode from Season 1 is pure awesome. To sum it up: Both the victim and the killer are dear friends of his. Conan has found out first who is who, as always, but when he's about to knock Kogoro out as in every case... he hears Kogoro muttering to himself that he will catch the culprit even if it costs him his life. Conan is so moved that he can't bring himself to drug him, and instead he drops the hints Kogoro needs to resolve the mystery. And when that part is done? The killer launches a massive Motive Rant and attacks Kogoro. Said killer is a Genius Bruiser and pretty much 6 feet of pure muscle, while Kogoro is a scrawny Butt-Monkey. Kogoro wins and easily pins the killer to the ground, which is followed with a short but badass Shut Up, Hannibal!. "No, I'm not the strongest in the judo team. It's just that you got weaker. You became a murderer."
  • Episode 50: "Library Murder Case" has Conan and the Detective Boys apprehending the corrupt librarian without any help from Ran, Kogoro, or any adult figures.
  • Volume 10: "Alpine Hut in the Snowy Mountain Murder Case" shows Professor Oyama's Dying Moment of Awesome. He's bound, gagged, and has been stabbed multiple times — and it's mentioned that his lungs were punctured, so he was gasping for air before finally being dead — and he still made sure to leave a dying message, indicating his killer.

    Volumes 11 - 15

    Volumes 16 - 20
  • Volume 17: In "The Mysterious Mansion of a Band of Thieves Case", upon solving the puzzle, Conan and Kogoro figure out that the two men who apparently owned the house they were investigating were actually thieves trying to loot treasure inside. When the thieves go to attack them, Conan and Kogoro manage to knock out one of them, but the other one then tries to take Ran hostage. There's one panel of an Oh, Crap! reaction from the two men (including Kogoro actually telling the thief "Er, that isn't such a good idea...") before Ran uses her karate to knock the holy hell out of her attacker.
  • Episode 100 goes to Ran for saving the sleeping Asami from the burning house.
    • A retroactive, subtle one, and again for Ran: Asami admits in the next episode that she gave Ran the wrong lemon pie ingredients, but Ran managed to make it delicious anyway.
  • Episode 101 has the culprit, Sawai, trying to explain the reason for setting the house on fire with Asami was so he could rush in as a gallant knight to win her love. When he tries to excuse himself by saying he didn't think the fire would expand as quick at it did, Conan (using Kogoro) gives him a huge "The Reason You Suck" Speech in return and probably one of the most scathing ones in the series so far.
Conan (via Kogoro): YOU IDIOT! "Planning to keep the fire small"? "It got out of hand"? What makes you think those are valid excuses?! Shut the hell up! Did you even consider the fact that she may have been killed? What if the car broke down? A flat tire? A traffic jam? She easily could have died if those things were to happen! If you wanted her to notice you, why didn't you become someone WORTH being noticed? Why didn't you try getting her to notice you by doing something honorable?
  • Episode 129: In "The Girl from the Black Organization" case, Ai Haibara shows why she is a serious business, in her introduction episode nonetheless. When Conan is busy dealing with the counterfeiter goons, the leader of the counterfeiter crime syndicate is reaching for her gun. Unfortunately for her, Haibara anticipates her intention, grabs the gun before she can do it, takes a Weaver stance with a firm expression, and fires it just over the lady's shoulder by a few centimeters. The counterfeiter leader's face becomes pale and she is shaken in fear, unable to move a muscle. Haibara knows what she's doing.
    • Even better, when Inspector Megure berates Haibara for unauthorized use of a gun, she fools Megure by pretending to cry and breaking into tears.
  • Volume 19: In "The Naniwa Serial Murder Case", Heiji performs a heroic act of preventing officer Yusuke Sakata from committing suicide after exposing his crime. He also delivers Shut Up, Hannibal! speech to the culprit. Even more notable as the culprit is a cop and someone Heiji knows on a personal level.
Heiji: You're a police officer! You're one of the only people in Japan who's allowed to carry a gun. Why aren't you proud of that? Stand up, Sakata! Be worthy of the cherry blossom emblem on your logbook!note
