It must've been, to explode like that.

  • At the Summit, Catie takes control of the room and manages to avert a war by suggesting a plan that everyone can actually agree on. And then she volunteers to carry out said plan when no one else can or will. It’s moments like this that remind you why she’s a queen.
  • Right away, Til shows that she’s not to be messed with by effortlessly undoing Anon’s weather hack and turning his avatar into a frog.
  • The heroes managing to fight off a huge kraken, as it’s tearing the ship apart around them.
  • The Anons of 4chan rising up and driving Arianna from the site by threatening to vaporize the Firewall with Low Orbit Ion Cannons. It turns out they’re bluffing, but it’s still pretty cool.
  • Arianna manages to defeat the Slender Man – a feat which very few people throughout the character’s history have accomplished.
  • Tyalie gets one when she discovers and moves the trap set by the heroes to catch her, and uses it to trap them instead.
  • Using the Fine Bros.’ airship to chase down the Wayback Machine. At one point you get to take the wheel – it plays out like the cart dodging minigames from earlier, except this time it’s in full, glorious 3D.
  • The whole huge, rolling battle with the pieces of Legion, starting at the very top of The Spire and ending way back at the bottom. At one point the enemies blow apart the tower your party is standing on, and the next wave is fought on top of the falling rubble. To make things even more intense, this all happens after Catie leaves to upgrade the PasSWORD, which means that for the entire fight, the heroes are missing both their best healer and their strongest weapon.
  • After a whole game’s worth of buildup, the moment when Catie finally pierces the Firewall and leads the party into Arianna’s world is mighty satisfying.
  • In Chapter 8, Wolfram unleashes his ultimate creation – a screen-filling mechanical monstrosity called Wolfram ALPHA. The heroes can’t reach the mecha’s head to incapacitate it, so what do they do? Some kind of desperate Colossus Climb? Hell no. They just destroy the entire body piece-by-piece until the head comes down to them.
  • While YMMV on how fun it is to play, there’s no doubting the final fight with STORM is cinematically stunning. Between the lighting effects, the music, the rain, and the multiple gameplay shifts, it shapes up to be an unforgettable final boss.
  • The entire “Load the World” sequence. STORM has left the Internet in ruins, but Til and Anon have been practicing their hacking together offscreen, and devise a way of using Arianna’s files to bring down the Firewall and restore everything that was lost. What follows is a whirlwind of impressive visuals, including a compulsory Pillar of Light, and ending with a grand World-Healing Wave.
  • The party as a whole gets one when they stand up to Cracky, shielding Catie from the angel’s efforts to reawaken Virtua. Bonus points for the epic verbal smackdown they give her while doing it.
Shift: Yo, would you just shut up already?! You're the worst angel I've ever seen!
Tyalie: If you want her, then you'll have to get past us. Again, and again, and again!
  • It’s a small moment, but Cornelia standing up to Boxxyfan and refusing to be his weapon again. Even though she’s facing someone who has clearly traumatized her, she holds her ground bravely.
  • Boxxyfan’s ruthless Curb-Stomp Battle against the party, with only Catie left standing afterwards, setting the stage for an epic final duel.
    • And right after that, Catie finally does what she’s been scared of doing for the whole epilogue chapter: she taps into Virtua’s power, risking her own soul to put herself and Boxxyfan on equal footing.
  • While Legion’s revival scene is undeniably Nightmare Fuel, it’s also awesome as hell.
    • Consider this – for the few moments while STORM is trying to keep Legion from reforming, the Mechanical Abomination is actually on your side. Such a pity that it doesn’t last.
    • In the same scene, Catie leaping to save Anon's transformed plant self from being sucked into the fusion. It leads to one of the most impressive visual shots in the game, with Catie’s hair blowing wildly in the wind as she stands at the edge of a hurricane, hanging on to her friend by a stem.
  • Wolfram’s Villainous Rescue in the final act. When all hope seems lost in the wake of Legion’s return, Wolfram turns up out of the blue with archived copies of Arianna’s system files, reviving her and giving Catie the ally she needs to fight back against Legion. The scientist even manages to zap some much-needed sense into a crazed Boxxyfan along the way.
  • The entire True Ending finale, when Catie teams up with Arianna and Boxxyfan to fight Legion. Let’s say that again: the series’ two Big Bads, standing united with the heroine against an ultimate threat. And against all odds, they manage to work together and win.Remember Arianna’s utterly terrifying final boss transformation? Yeah, it’s still in her skill menu when she’s on your team. You actually get to unleash that form against Legion, and it’s every bit as satisfying as it sounds.
