• Episode 1, the episode ends with Ordinary High-School Student Keita Aono being attacked by frightening monsters. Though he's rescued by a giant robot operated by none other than Hinoki. Hinoki, having lost her co-pilot. Tells him to climb aboard, Keita does just that and the pair bravely try to fight. Until their mecha runs out of fuel...
• Episode 2 "Voice" picks up where the first episode left off. With Keita and Hinoki facing imminent, and likely death. Only for a being known as Betterman to appear out of nowhere. The seemingly human, Betterman then transforms for the first time. Into a dragon (Betterman's Nebula form), who then proceeds to destroy the monster that had threatened Keita and Hinoki.
• Episode 8 "Poison" Betterman managing to transform into his strongest form, Forte. Taking on the Behemoth, with much greater success this time. Which enables the Akamatsu Industries team to escape the collapsing Ajanta Caves.
• Episode 10 "Worms", after Keita, Hinoki, and Akamatsu find themselves trapped in a room about to be eaten by a horde of man-eating worms. The door opens to reveal... Li-Chan, who's recently acquired mystical bell she's now wearing around her wrist has apparently scared off the monsters.
• Episode 13 "Nectar" has Shou stumble upon Asami just as the vile Dr. Umezaki is about to force her into joining him. Rather literally, thanks to one particular insect capable of turning her into a zombie as soon as it crawls into her brain. Fortunately, Shou grabs the bug and kills it with seconds to spare.
• In episode 16 "Revelation" Lamia gets into an argument with another of his kind, Bodaiju, who thinks Betterman is spending too much time protecting Keita and Hinoki. The other Betterman takes it upon himself to kill Lamia. Leading to a battle between Lamia in his Nebula form and Bodaiju in the newly introduced, Turba form.
• During episode 19 "Mirror", Lamia quickly figures out what's going on and fights (and defeats) his doppelganger.
