  • It really shouldn't be understated that Yahtzee understands the medium he's critiquing from experience as a designer, writer and programmer. And he's not merely just another programmer, he has his own entry in Genius Programming for creating 1213 and The Art Of Theft, which are side-scrolling platformers made in Adventure Game Studio, a game engine designed purely for point-and-click adventure games and nothing else - if partly out of pure stubbornness to learn anything else until he finally moved on to Game Maker Studio and Unity.
    • Amongst other achievements in terms of programming, he also engineered a text parser in AGS as well for Trilby's Notes back when the engine didn't support it natively.
  • Starting and accomplishing Dev Diary, a biweekly series that ran for a whole year (and will continue in some form). Yahtzee pledged to develop 12 games in 12 months, producing two videos for each, one documenting the process and the other evaluating the finished product. All this, while he continues to produce weekly video for Zero Punctuation, do weekly stream, work on his novel and audio book and at one point even preview games and interview developers at E3 for the Escapist, and celebrate the birth of his first child. And he succeeds. By April 2020, he pitched and completed 12 game projects, all by himself (save for the music), each game distinct from each other both visually and mechanically. Yahtzee began the series saying creative people must create and complete projects, and he proceeded to put his money where his mouth is.
