Attempted Rape in Anime and Manga series.

  • 7 Seeds has Hana from Team Spring almost get raped twice. The first time around was by her team's guide Yanagi, to break her down and make her more compliant when he gives orders. A thunderstorm breaks out before anything can really happen. The second time around, Ango tries to rape Hana as a way to, once again, get her to comply to being given orders and as revenge for what her father had done to him and his team members when he was their teacher. Before Ango can go through with it, Ayu bursts into the room and interrupts, causing Ango to stop.
  • Ah! My Goddess: This is the act that effectively clinches Aoshima as a villain in his first appearance. Fortunately, even though Belldandy is caught off guard for a variety of reasons, she manages to stop him with her abilities as a goddess — namely, a liberal dose of lightning. The last episode of the season has a similar scene with an aged-up Skuld as the victim, with older sister Urd stepping in to fry him again.
  • In the movie version of AKIRA, Tetsuo and his girlfriend Kaori are captured by the Clown gang. They start feeling up Kaori, then they rip off her shirt and knock her unconscious. Before they can do anything, Kaneda and the rest of the gang arrive to save them.
  • Played straight in Angel Densetsu, soon after Ryoko is introduced (Kitano saves her). Doubly lampshaded too, when some random thugs wants to check out Ikuno's panties.
  • Alice in Borderland: One of the members of the Beach, Suguru Niragi, attempts to rape Usagi when she tries to steal one of the Beach's cards and then he attempts to rape her again when he is seemingly losing with his team in a game known as King of Clubs.
  • Ao no Fuuin: Soko experiences this multiple times. In the first Chapter Kashii tries to rape her, but she ultimately stops him by consuming him and leaving only his clothes behind. Shortly after, Akira attempts to do this, but she gets away in time. Even later Akira tries this again when Soko refuses to sleep with him to lose her Soryu status because she feels responsible for the rise of the Oni, but she stops him again.
  • Arachnid: The vast majority of the cast is made up of sexual predators or people who get attacked by them.
    • Alice starts the series nearly getting raped by her own uncle and goes on to fight against an assassin order mostly made out of rapists. By the time Arachnid ends, it escalates to the entirety of Japan being engulfed by a Rape Zombie Apocalypse and her beating them all to death just to vent off stress.
    • Megumi nearly gets raped by Hibiki's goons after she's beaten by him, but Alice saves her. She herself is quite the Psycho Lesbian for Alice though, and tries to at least force the spider-girl to have Sex for Solace with her while hiding from the zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately for her, Alice fears her own Sanity Slippage and quietly leaves Megumi even though she would be willing to have sex with her otherwise.
    • Setsuna grew up as a Child Soldier in conflict zones and awakened her Super-Reflexes to kill a group of bandits who would likely have raped her. Unfortunately, she is the only major character who is raped and infected by the zombies right before the apocalypse begins. The sequel then shows her getting gangraped a second time to rub salt on the wound, just for her to gleefully infect her assailants right back. She recovers her senses due to unlikely circunstances, but is still enough of a half-zombified ditz to keep forcing herself on Chiyuri, the only friend she has, even in front of other people.
    • Chiyuri is introduced with three thugs about to rape her while she sleeps half-naked under a bridge, but she easily escapes and appears too carefree to be bothered. Later that night though, she's horrified to have the old hobos she's friends with attempt to rape her while infected by the zombie virus and rambling that's what they wanted all along. Fortunately, Setsuna saves Chiyuri before they could do worse than half-penetrating her on-panel.
    • The zombie apocalypse was planned by a Living Aphrodisiac girl who was repeatedly raped since her childhood and driven insane after killing her incestous father. She wanted to rule over Japan after mastering her sexual mind control powers and tried to dominate Alice out of a misguided grudge but got her neck horribly crushed in return.
  • Attack on Titan: Mikasa's backstory has her almost sold as a Sex Slave as a child, by the same men who killed her parents; Eren saves her, rather violently killing one of the men, and when the other was going to kill him, Mikasa picks up the knife and rescues him, starting her journey into stoic badassitude.
  • Basilisk: Yakushiji Tenzen tries this twice on Oboro and once on Kagerou. Azuki Rousai and Amayo Jingorou both try to rape Okoi. With this many attempts, it kind of makes you wonder, how nobody ever succeeds in finishing the job.
  • Battle Angel Alita: While Doc Ido was looking for a runaway Alita, he stumbles on some thugs trying to rape a young girl, Shumira. While the main would-be rapist had his pants down, Ido grabs a pipe and "sporks" him with it. He then knees the guy's nuts and crushes his skull with the back end of the pipe, which a concrete block on it.
  • Berserk:
    • Casca has people try to rape her several times. The first attempt is stopped by Griffith, who then has Casca kill the would-be rapist herself. The second attempt is fought off by Casca herself, who kills her attackers, the third when the apostle Wyald tries to do her with his wacky manhood but she is saved by Guts, and the fourth when the crippled Griffith attempts to force himself on her but fails miserably. She had some pretty close calls. HOWEVER, when the Eclipse goes down, Casca is ultimately raped right in front of Guts by none other than the man who saved her from her first sexual assault. She doesn't come out of it very well. It doesn't get easier for her afterward, as there are three more attempts, but luckily she was saved by the Child when some pagans tried to rape her, Guts when the Great Goathead tried to make her his "bride", and then surprisingly, herself when she was almost gang raped by some bandits.
    • Also, Princess Charlotte has to fight off her own half-maddened father's attempt to rape her after her night with Griffith leads to him getting arrested and thrown in the dungeons to be put to the torture. This alienates her from her father to the point of disowning him and refusing to see him when he's on his deathbed, his health having seriously deteriorated because of the guilt of what he had done.
    • Then there's that maddened, anthropomorphic possessed horse that tries to rape Farnese, which triggers a Flashback Echo in Guts to Casca's rape during the Eclipse and really angers him big time.
    • Arguably Guts himself almost got this at hands of Slan, the female member of The God Hand. As at one point she traps Guts in Qliphoth restraining him, and while molesting Guts she openly intends to have her way with him but fortunately The Skull Knight intervenes, which annoys Slan.
    • Poor Guts has a phobia/hatred of sexual violence his whole life, and that time with Slan he got lucky. When he was a kid however he wasn’t strong enough to defend himself from Donovan, one of Gambino's bigger men who liked little boys in all the wrong ways.
  • Bitter Virgin: Hinako Aikawa, the female lead, experiences this midway through the series. She is rescued by male lead Daisuke. It is because of this action does she realize not all men are like said rapist.
  • Black God: When Hiyo finally gets Kuro alone, he corners her and tells her how long he had secretly lusted after her, but hadn't been able to act on it since she was always protected by her palace guards. But he's denied the opportunity again when Keita arrives in time to save her.
  • Black Jack:
    • A high school girl goes to Black Jack for surgery on her throat. After failing to observe the rest period after the surgery, it looks like her only chance to speak again is if she stays quiet for a full year, at which point he'd give her a synthetic vocal box. As she takes this challenge, word gets around that she won't scream or say anything, prompting several guys to take advantage of the situation and try to rape her. She saves herself by throwing her school bag across the road, attracting the attention of several passerbys.
    • Another story has Black Jack operate on a girl who gained a huge amount of weight because of a medical condition. After the surgery, she goes back to her original appearance. At this point, her boyfriend (who dumped her because he didn't want her after she became unattractive and fat) tries to get back together with her. When she turns him down, he tries to rape her. She's saved when Black Jack steps in and throws several syringes and scalpels at him.
  • Brave10: This happens several times, most often to Ana including in her introduction, but also to Kakei when he battles Oukatsu, and Isanami gets threatened on one occasion as well.
  • Cage of Eden: It seems that if you're a girl, this trope follows you around like a lost puppy. Kusuru-sensei, Oomori and Rion were almost raped, and the rest of the girls...well, the same couldn't be said for them, notably Oomori's senpai, who was raped TO DEATH.
  • Carnival Phantasm: Shinji tries to rape Sakura (as he tried to and succeeded at numerous times during Fate/stay night's Heaven's Feel route), but Rider passes her Caster's dagger Rule Breaker and she stabs him. Instead of killing him, the magic dagger cleanses his heart of evil.
  • Challengers: A backstory chapter reveals that Souichi's homophobia was caused by almost being raped by one of his male professors. Morinaga came to his rescue, which might have set up a Rescue Romance for the two... if not for Morinaga being a gay guy and Souichi being violently anti-gay after that incident.
    • However, four or five years later the two do get a romance in The Tyrant Falls in Love, although Souichi finds it hard coming to terms with his homosexuality for a long time and generally likes to pretend That Didn't Happen.
  • Code Geass: People tend to think of Nina Einstein as a crazy xenophobe who hates the Japanese just For the Evulz. Sadly, it's way more complex than that. Not only is this trope apparently invoked in her backstory ( she once got lost in a ghetto and barely escaped from being raped there), though spoken of in the series itself, it does occur again during the Hotel episode. Much of the student council gets captured by Japanese terrorists intending to use the Sakuradite conference being held there as a stage to declare their continued existence. Nina, already terrified of Japanese people, goes and accidentally blurts out the highly insulting term for them: Eleven. The terrorist who hears her grabs her, and tells her that "he'll teach her a lesson", with her friends trying to defuse the situation. She's only saved from being gangraped and murdered by the timely intervention of Princess Euphemia, who uses the revelation of her identity to save Nina. Also turns into a rescue crush... If somewhat hampered by Nina's being a lesbian, and Euphemia's... well, not being one, or at least preferring Suzaku.
  • Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door sees Faye nearly get raped by Vincent Volaju, only for his accomplice to come by and interrupt him, demanding payment for helping him in a terrorist attack,. This ends with Vincent killing his ally.
  • Date A Live: Three thugs accost Kurumi Tokisaki and lead her into an alleyway. It ends like one would expect....with a truck crushing a can of red juice. It's actually used to show her status as a villain, as she actually eggs them on a bit...and could easily have gotten away.
  • Death Note:
    • Light's second kill in the animated adaptation was a member of a biker gang who was trying to rape a woman. Light uses the titular Artifact of Doom to send him right into the path of an oncoming semi. This kill proves to Light that the Death Note's powers are real and ultimately leads to his decision to become Kira. In the manga, the scooter gang harassed the girl, and Light only chose the victim because he gave away his name. (In fairness, his attitude towards the note at that point was "Am I supposed to believe this crap?" He wasn't depraved enough to kill someone just for being a pain...yet.)
    • Takada kills a man who is harassing a woman on a subway, as a crucial part of Light's plan.
  • D.Gray-Man: There is another scene that the anime makes much, much worse by expanding upon. Not only is Lenalee grabbed, pinned down, and bitten by a bunch of skeletons, the ones on her thighs pry her legs open, one of them sticks its head up her skirt to do only the Earl knows what before the Earl shows up with More Teeth than the Osmond Family chattering like a nutcracker. Lenalee can only thank God that Allen showed up when he did.
  • Dragon Ball: Bulma at one point is nearly raped by two Red Ribbon Army soldiers before running away and getting saved by kid Goku.
  • Dramacon: The protagonist Christie is nearly raped by her drunk boyfriend Derek—-apparently he feels she isn't giving him enough attention due to all the time she's been spending with her crush Matt(who incidentally goes back to try and pulverize Derek after Christie tells him what happened.)
  • In the BL manga Eerie Queerie!! there are two examples of this:
    • First in volume two when Mikuni has Hasunama's ghost (because he's in a coma from saving Mitsuo after he was pushed out a window by Kanau) at his command so he decides to have some fun.... Mitsuo goes to Hasunama's body at the hospital to make sure no ghosts kidnap it as their own, he's too late and chases it (later revealed to be Kanau trying to be helpful and returning the body) to the temple where they fall through the screen door and... Mitsuo goes into a fit of rage and beats Mikuni to the point that he has to wear a mask. Then this is never spoken of again and they continue to hang around with the pervert/rapist.
    • The second time is after Mikuni has turned into a baby and the team goes to some mediums to find a way to cure him. Possession takes place, evil curses and charms that stop Mitsuo from moving but fortunately Mikuni saves the day... The fact that his curse ended just in time is lampshaded by Mitsuo: 'how does that work?!'
  • Elfen Lied:
    • In one chapter The Unknown Man unexpectedly barged into Kouta's house and would have raped and murdered Mayu (just because he could) had it not been for some last minute intervention from Bandou.
    • In episode 5 Professor Kakuzawa drugs and attempts to rape Lucy but she simply beheads him before he can.
  • The Familiar of Zero: The protagonist Saito manages to delude himself into thinking that his recent deeds have won Louise's affection and that he must represent Earth by ravishing her while she's asleep. He started molesting her and was reaching for his pants when she made her rejection quite clear.
  • The Five Star Stories: Schaft tries to rape Lachesis during the enormous snafu known generally as the Emperor's Rescue Mission. He bites much more than he could swallow, though. But the trope gets then subverted, because not only he manages to escape consequences, but he gets so much impressed that he declares himself Lachesis' eternal knight.
  • Fractale: Phryne makes a blunt comment about a minor character's sculpture; this angers him immensely, so he knocks her down, and is apparently about to rape her (a strange reaction to such an insult, to say the least). But Enri sneaks up behind him and knocks him out with a single blow—while yelling "Death penalty!"—before he gets any further.
  • Franken Fran: Officer Kuhou was almost raped by a Reality Warper who couldn't control his sexual impulses. He snapped out of it after she fired in the air.
  • Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu has one where Chidori tries to stop some guys from assaulting another girl, and in turn becomes the center of their attention. Fortunately, Sousuke was around to save the day.
  • Fushigi Yuugi: Miaka has to deal with so many rape attempts it practically defies rational explanation that the act is never fulfilled. Thankfully, Tamahome keeps saving her. Yui is also the victim of an attempted rape early in the story, which results in her turning against Miaka because she blames her for putting her in that situation and leaving her to her fate.
  • Future Diary: In chapter 9, Tsubaki uses her remaining hand to tear off Yuno's blouse and then orders her followers to strip her by force and get ready to gang rape her, saying this out loud so Yukiteru can hear her and come out of hiding. Yukiteru barges in right on time to save Yuno.
  • In Gantz, Kei Kishimoto is almost raped soon after she's introduced. As in, she materializes naked and unconscious in a sealed apartment, and a violent thug, already present, carts her off to the bathroom for "privacy" inside a minute. However, Kato rescues her, and so starts their Rescue Romance.
  • In The Garden of Sinners, the antagonist of the third chapter/movie is a victim of attempted rape, plus some other rapes in the past, who systematically slaughters anybody guilty of sexual violence who she comes across. She is the only antagonist in the series whom the main characters do not hold to blame (although they still need to stop her killing other people, obviously). The other attempted rapist in the series is wtfpwned by Shiki and becomes the only Muggle she (or at least her current personality) ever kills.
  • Girls Bravo: Kirie only narrowly avoids being a victim, herself, when Kosame finds her wandering around the Fukuyama Manor and coerces her into the bedroom at gunpoint. Kosame shoves her onto the bed and straddles her, but only gets as far as stripping down to her panties before a rampaging spirit bursts into the roomnote  and tramples her. Which gives Kirie the chance she needs to escape.
  • Happens twice in one episode of Glass Fleet, almost simultaneously: pretty young pilot Eimer gets tossed into a cell full of big scary prisoners, but manages to fend them off long enough for the hero to join her; meanwhile, the Sweet Polly Oliver gets drugged by the villain for nefarious purposes... but he apparently backs off in disgust upon realizing she's not a man. It's possible that he still raped her even after he discovered she was a woman, as she does wake up completely naked. At the very least, she makes it clear from her Shower of Angst and some later dialogue with the hero that she believes she was raped.
  • Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun: Reika's alternate personality tries to rape Shungo in the 11th episode, but is forced to stop when told by her subordinate that there are intruders.
  • GUN×SWORD: Van has to defend Wendy from a sexual predator in an early episode. She faints after the threat is over, and caring for her gives him a chance to display that he's got a tender side.
  • Haou Airen: More than once, but special note goes to the Too Dumb to Live triad guys who grab the escaping and BSOD'ing Kurumi and attempt to make her a Sex Slave and Reilan having her schoolmates try to rape Kurumi, out of jealousy and as a part of her Thanatos Gambit.. Hakuron saves her both times. Which doesn't stop him from sexing her up in non-con/dub-con ways, tho.
  • Hellsing:
    • The vampire preacher planned on raping Seras Victoria before killing her, since she was a virgin and he didn't want an "equal" vampire (non-virgins bitten by vampires in this universe become ghouls under the biter's control). Fortunately Alucard steps in before it gets to that, although the preacher gets a few good gropes in for effect.
    • Then there's Jan wanting to rape, kill, and rape Integra. In that order.
  • Highschool of the Dead:
    • Rei nearly became a victim when Takashi left her alone outside the gas station, during chapter 4. But he put a stop to it by putting a bullet in thug's shoulder, then left him for zombie bait to cover their escape.
    • While Saeko and Takashi were alone at the Shinto shrine, she told him about the time she discovered her "true self" when someone tried to rape her. She said she dislocated his shoulder and broke his femur... and realized she enjoyed it.
    • Shizuka was nearly a victim herself, while she and the others had taken refuge at the mall. She wandered off with Shimada in search of a bed so she could rest, except he had other plans and might've succeeded had it not been for Asami and Hirano's timely arrival.
  • Hot Gimmick:
    • Ryoki saves Hatsumi from several guys who were attempting to rape her by stabbing one of the would-be rapists in the face with a ballpoint pen.
    • Ryoki himself also tries to rape and/or assault Hatsumi several times, but is always thwarted by a third person walking in on them.
  • Inuyasha: Mukotsu captures Kagome and attempts to rape her. Although she's almost paralyzed, she still fights back and attacks him, but while her effort does stop the rape it also manages to infuriate him and he decides to just kill her instead. She's saved first by Miroku and Sango, and ultimately by Sesshoumaru who kills Mukotsu. The anime, however, "softens" this scene into a bizarre marriage ceremony instead.
  • Izure Shinwa No Ragnarok: Freyja has her Einherjar minions capture the protagonist, Raika, so she can have her way with him. However, it turns out she caught an illusionary version of him, distracting her long enough for the real Raika to defeat her Einherjar army.
  • Jojos Bizarre Adventure:
    • Steel Ball Run: Lucy Steel is a tragic victim of this trope. Twice over. Oh, and she's 14.
      • While she's disguised as Funny Valentine's wife Scarlet Valentine, Funny tries to have sex with her despite Lucy's discomfort. Even after Funny realizes she isn't Scarlet, he tries to rape her. She escapes, that being.
      • Diego "Dio" Brando from a Parallel World tries to rape her when she confronts him in the Holy Corpse's vault. She kills him before he can, however.
    • JoJolion: Daiya Higashikata, after removing her adoptive brother Josuke's memories of Yasuho, tells him she's the first woman he met in his life and tries to seduce him with the implications they're about to have sex (with Daiya undressing, all that) before the bubble in which the switch's sound was stored pops, leading Daiya to stop in order to check out if Josuke hasn't deceived her. Daiya essentially nearly committed rape by deception, and this is glossed over once she is beaten and becomes an ally.
  • Weirdly subverted in Kämpfer. Senou is brainwashed and sent to rape Shizuku, but he's such a Chaste Hero that after he pushes her onto the bed, he doesn't know what to do. The would-be victim has to lead him on. Then she gives up and knocks him unconscious.
  • In Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru, there's Pedro, the Brazilian martial artist and transfer student. It turns out that he was the masked rapist that went around buttraping a bunch of male martial arts students, and he ends up setting his sights on Minoru, the pretty boy protagonist. His depraved, rapist tendencies are played as comedy, and eventually the main characters forgive him and have him join their karate club. And make Minoru room with him. Which results in him trying several times to rape Minoru (including an instance where Pedro went pantless with his junk out, in the middle of the night, to try to buttrape Minoru while Minoru was unconscious and drunk). Fortunately, Minoru was getting sick in the bathroom so Pedro winded up climbing into the bed of one of the karate instructors who quickly woke up and Pedro took that chance to run away.
  • In one episode, a random guy approached Karin and said she has a pretty nice body. When she tried to get away he grabbed her and pulled her down a alley. Thankfully Karin's sister saved her.
  • The monster woman Mine tries to rape young boy Nai in the very first chapter of Karneval but Gareki winds up saving him.
  • In Kaze Hikaru, Okita saves Sei from being raped even though they don't even know she is a girl.
  • Kurogane (2011): Chapter 0 has Kurogane rescue Tsubame from a trio who are trying to rape her. The rewrite in the Chapter 1 changes it to them robbing her instead (though the goon's leader does try to coerce her into having sex with him).
  • In Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu, Arisa employs two thugs to scare Hibino during the marathon. To her horror, they try to go further than that and almost rape her. Miho shows up on time to scare them by pretending there are police officers with her.
  • Implied at the start of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords (2004). Link saves a woman from a bandit who stole her while pillaging a village.
  • Lord Marksman and Vanadis:
    • Tigre's loyal maid Titta almost gets raped by Zion Thenardier during the invasion of Alsace. Unfortunately for Zion, Tigre shoots an arrow straight through his palm and rescues Titta.
    • By the time Volume 13 rolls around, Eleonora Viltaria of all people is subject to this, courtesy of Greast. Once Tigre rescues her, however, Elen decides enough is enough and chops off Greast's arm in retaliation. She doesn't take it very well, at least Tigre professes her love for her and they have sex in bed and in the river.
  • Macross:
    • Implied to have happened in Macross Plus. Which is what broke the dynamics between Myung, Isamu and Guld. The latter, having been the assaulter, blocked it outta his mind and actually thought Isamu was the rapist; when he recalled the truth, he aknowledged it and decided to go the Redemption Equals Death way.
    • Macross 7: Mylene Jenius, the female lead of the anime, after being drugged is the victim of this in the Dynamite OVA, In that she is rescued by her bandmates. In the companion manga Mylene Beat, things go much further before a dragon like creature causes Mylene to fight off her Rapist. In the early series, just as Fire Bomber is beginning to become popular, a fellow celebrity takes her on a "date" and attempts to rape her in the car. Fortunately, Basara saw this coming and manages to rescue her before things go too far.
  • In Maken-ki! Takeru Yamato used it as a ploy to humiliate his own niece by trying it in front of Takeru, during their battle. Takeru fell for it and charged straight into his attack, but survived the blast and saved Himegami.
  • In Make the Exorcist Fall in Love, Asmodeus, being the Demon Lord of Lust, promises to "to take [Father] to Heaven" when she prepares to have dozens of women rape him while she's using her powers as The Pornomancer to render him helpless. He only manages to stop her when he remembers Matthew 5:3, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven", after which he tears out his own eye and binds Asmodeus with the power of Archangel Raphael. But the experience left lasting physical and psychological scars on Father, who is specifically diagnosed with PTSD and grows physically ill when he sees naked women.
  • Musashi no Ken is very guilty of this. After reading the manga, you'd be forgiven for asking why it's so easy to bump into thugs and rapists in the streets of Japan. Most of these incidents are rather contrived, they're there just to show off how badass our heroes are.
    • The first incident isn't rape-related, but it's still for showing off how badass Musashi's father is that he's able to beat a bunch of thugs with just a toothpick.
    • A bunch of gangsters out of nowhere come out and interrupt Musashi and Monami's date, almost managing to kidnap Monami and rape her, but thankfully Musashi finally gives up his "pacifism" and mans up and beats the crap out of all of them, with the help of his roommate who's a former gangster.
    • Ranko goes to those same thugs trying to negotiate to get Musashi and his roommate unsuspended, and gets overpowered and almost gets raped, but a new guy named Inui appears and saves the day.
    • Kazato's quite a strong swordswoman herself. She asks Musashi out, but ends up having one too many drinks. On the way home, both of them are drunk, but Kazato's much more, and so they bump into, you guessed it, some more rapists. Fortunately, the rapist leader is honorable enough to give Musashi a chance to prove himself after beating him to a pulp, and they all scoot when the leader realizes Musashi is not to be messed with.
    • Inui, during a moment of frustration, almost rapes Monami to revenge on Musashi. Thankfully he comes to his senses when Monami calls him a coward for doing that and spares her.
  • My-Otome: One of Tomoe's plans to remove Arika as competition for Shizuru's attention is to have her raped (carried out by a gang apparently hired by proxy through Miya), as having sex destroys the nanomachines that Otomes use. Sergay arrives and forces off the rapists, and Nao captures them before subjecting them to her special brand of punishment by dragging them from a boat through the city's canals.
  • Negima! Magister Negi Magi: Just as Setsuna's rival/enemy Tsukuyomi stripped her down to her undergarments with a Demon Charm, and pinned her down with her chest wrappings sliced off by the Stalker with a Crush's sword, Setsuna barely managed to summon a floating Tanto to send at the Psycho Lesbian's back, managing to nick her scarf off. Before the battle could go on, Tsukuyomi was telepathically called away by her superior Fate as he was retreating. Of all things, Setsuna was most humiliated by the fact that she was defeated.
  • Salad Days:
    • Mizuki and Daisuke can't stand each other, yet they always go to school together. One day things start to change: both of them have dates. Unfortunately for Mizuki though, her date is a blatant sleazeball, who just comes up to Daisuke and spells out his plan to piss him off; yet Mizuki, out of jealousy with Daisuke's date, refuses to believe Daisuke about this A-hole. On their whole double date, Daisuke simply can't take his mind off Mizuki and constantly watches the A-hole's moves, until Mizuki's fed up and tells him off, and they split. Daisuke's date, realizing that he doesn't care one bit about her, finally gives up tells him to come to Mizuki. Daisuke runs quickly to look for Mizuki, only to find her standing alone at the hospital entrance with her right hand bandaged. It turns out that the smooth-talking guy didn't take no for an answer and decided to rape her, but Mizuki was too strong and just beat the crap out of the rapist, breaking her hand in the process. All the drama's over, Daisuke and Mizuki finally come back to bickering as usual.
    • Shigeto's having a difficult time with his girlfriend, so he just lies around sulking during summer. His mother doesn't like that and makes him go to his grandma's town to let off steam. There he meets his cousin Haru after a long time, who's now a beautiful young woman. Shigeto's having a good time, although he tries hard to ignore the fact that Haru's way too nonchalant about taking off her shirt in front of him and casually joking about wanting to date him. It's revealed that she's having a difficult time with her boyfriend too, so she's kind of doing all this to piss him off, and she just lies that her cousin is her new "boyfriend" to his face. Haru then just scoots off with Shigeto and go the places where they would play as kids. But after all that fun, Shigeto suddenly starts to get weird, grabs Haru's wrist and says that he wants to be with her. Haru's scared and screams, and her boyfriend who's been following them the whole time jumps out and punches Shigeto. Turns out, this is just a ruse, Shigeto pretended that he wanted to rape his own cousin just so that her boyfriend could come out and save her. He helps them reconcile their relationship, and he's on his way back to mend his own.
  • Claude tries to rape Marion in Natsu e no Tobira, right after confessing his love for him . Shortly after Claude commits suicide.
  • Happens to Sara Ringwalt in Now and Then, Here and There, when she is used as part of a breeding program. After being successfully raped at least once, she fights off a later attempt and escapes her imprisonment.
  • In the Thriller Back arc of One Piece, Absalom's attack on Nami in her shower has distinct overtones of this thankfully Usopp and Chopper burst in to save her. It kinda gets worse, as Absalom stalks Nami and nearly makes her “his bride” before Sanji comes to her rescue.
  • Ouran High School Host Club: Kyoya tries this on Haruhi in episode 8 but she figures out he's faking. Probably.
  • Peach Girl:
    • Momo fights off Kairi's older brother Ryo when he makes advances on her. Sae gets a taste of her own medicine in the form of an obese rapist whom Momo saves her from before he can rape her. Also, Momo rescues Sae again when she is being forced to participate in a porno film.
    • In the sequel series "Sae's Story" Sae is drugged and almost raped by a group of guys at a party. Kanji thankfully rescues her.
    • Also happens in the manga when Kairi starts forcing himself on Momo. Nurse Misao arrives and violently interrupts him, chews him out and makes him promise not to do it again. It later transpires he was trying to stop her from leaving to meet with his brother, who she knew in the past, and would presumably have never gone through with it against Momo.
    • Goro's treatment of Momo may fall into this category - he was supposed to spend the night with her one way or the other to break her and Toji up, but couldn't bring himself to do it and only pretended to have spent the night with her at the hotel.
  • Penguindrum:
    • Ringo tries it with Tabuki-sensei, in episode 8. Until then, her attempts to get his attention were treated comically and her feverish humping of Shouma as Black Comedy Rape. This one, however, wasn't Played for Laughs, as it marks how utterly screwed up she is.
    • And in episode 11, Ringo drugs Tabuki with a Love Potion that makes him lust for her, but when she backs off she barely escapes being in the receiving end of this at the hands of a Tabuki who is very much Not Himself.
    • Happens again in episode 14, between a drugged-up Ringo and Tabuki...'s girlfriend, Yuri. Who does this because Ringo looks a lot like her sister Momoka, Yuri's lost love.
  • Perfect Blue: Near the end of the film the stalker Me-Mania attempts to rape and kill Mima but she knocks him out by slamming a hammer into the side of his head.
  • Pet Shop of Horrors: In the original manga series, D almost gets raped three times by men; Leon prevents two of them. One of those rape attempts included a kiss and getting to second base.
  • Purple Eyes in the Dark has Rinko almost get raped by some punks, but she saves herself by transforming into her beast form and killing them. Odagiri attempts something similar later on, getting some friends to try to attack Rinko, but the same occurs. Before he eventually drugs and rapes her himself.
  • Queen's Blade: The first frightening scene in the franchise actually played straight, when Nowa-chan is kidnapped by a gang of rapists and thrown onto a stable floor... but thankfully rescued by Echidna at the last second.
  • Ranma ½:
    • The Watermelon Island chapters provide Kuno with a temporary powerup that puts him well above Ranma's league (and also conveniently give him amnesia that preserves his kendo skills, but does away with his pesky "nobility" and "chivalry") culminate in him terrorizing a thoroughly freaked-out girl-Ranma, making the none-too-subtle threat that he's about to have his way with her and it's impossible for her to defeat him. Since, for once, she really can't beat him up, she outsmarts him so he smacks himself with his wooden sword, which helps him regain his memory.
    • The anime also included a Rescuer version of this trope. One episode has Ranma suffering Loss of Identity after getting smashed on the head in the koi pond, replacing his normal personality with that of a timid, stereotypically nice girl. Towards the episode's end, Happosai attempts to take advantage of Ranma's mangled mentality- and when his attempt to just grope her is foiled, he starts flailing his arms and legs around and crying like a little baby, whereupon "New Ranma" is compelled to offer to let him have his way with her if that will make him feel better. Akane immediateley intervenes and sends Happosai flying out through the window, horrified by this turn of events.
  • Record of Ragnarok:
    • Exclusive to the manga version, Incubus attacks Brunhilde intending to rape her. Thor interferes and kills him.
    • In a flashback, the Serpent attempted to seduce Eve. When she refused, he grabbed her intending to rape her, but her bird friends attacked him, allowing her to run away.
  • It's easier to list the number of times this doesn't happen to Yuri in Red River (1995). Rescues come in the form of her getting a hold of a weapon, the rapist having a change of heart, a battle interrupting everything, a convenient fire breaking out, etc.
  • Revolutionary Girl Utena: At one point Nanami gets the Akio Car treatment, where Touga attempts to rape her, which she fights off in fright.
  • In Robotech: The Movie Becky is assaulted by a sleazy dance director... Who then soils himself when her boyfriend Mark (who was spying on her fearing she'd be attacked by Andrews' goons and didn't trust the director) barges in wearing Powered Armor. Luckily for the director, Mark shows immense restraint and limits himself to a threat before leaving with Becky.
  • While Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (the English version of Sei Juushi Bismarck) was generally Bowdlerised for the American market, this trope was actually added to the dub to help explain one character's Face–Heel Turn. Jesse Blue is a proud young cadet at Cavalry Command who has an obsessive crush on April Eagle and feels he's entitled to her love. He proposes to her, she says no, he tries to force himself on her, and she fends him off with her martial arts skills. When the incident is quickly discovered, Jesse quits the academy before he can be punished and eventually becomes a traitor working for the evil Outriders.
  • Saint Beast: Pandora, who is very beautiful and slight for an angel, gets assaulted in the woods by a group of stronger angels. Fortunately Judas happens to be passing by and flies into a rage when he realizes what's happening.
  • Saiyuki: In the Burial arc, 14 year-old Sanzo is pursued by a gang of thieves—one of whom attempts to rape him. Sanzo, who has never previously killed a man, shoots his attacker at point-blank range. Grownup!Sanzo's reactions to sexual advances and comments on his beauty make a lot more sense in that context.
  • Silver Plan to Redo From JK: Hayana and her friends are almost the victim of this when they go out clubbing, but are fortunately rescued in time by Sayuri and her friends.
  • Skip Beat! gives us Reino in the forest with Kyouko with a spine-shivering creepy lead-up that is completely and utterly ruined by the arrival of the moment's Big Damn Hero: Fuwa Sho
  • In the manga adaptation of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Nel is nearly raped twice while attempting to rescue her subordinates, Tynave and Farleen, from the Kirlsa Training Facility. She escapes the first one on her own by slitting her would-be assailant's throat, but gets cornered again moments later and would've been gangraped, had Fayt and Cliff not been there.
  • Strawberry Panic!: Hikari by Kaname, twice. Yaya also comes on to Hikari too strong not long after she was almost raped by Kaname and she shoves Yaya to the ground.
  • Sword Art Online seems to have one of these Once a Season.
    • Asuna gets captured by a scientist with a tentacled slug monster avatar. He starts to use his tentacles to molest her, but she bites one of them, crippling him with pain, then his colleague shows up, forcing him to stop.
    • Asuna was almost raped by Sugou in a very creepy scene which had him stripping and molesting her right in front of Kirito. If Sugou hadn't been stripped of his admin rights by Kayaba, it would have turned out very ugly for both Asuna and Kirito both.
    • Shino was almost raped by Kyouji. She unintentionally spurned his affections, which caused him to go full Yandere on her. He planned to kill both of them after he had his way with her. Thankfully, she was able to fend him off until Kirito saved her in time.
    • In the Alicization arc, after Tiese and Ronye try to help their friend Frenica when she's being abused by Raios and Humbert, they're forcibly taken to their bedroom and end up bound and gagged. Raios and Humbert attempt to rape them in front of Eugeo, who is forced to break the taboo to help them, and he and Kirito end up expelled from the academy for their actions.
  • "Talentless Nana" has Tsunekichi Hatadaira, a student who has a Talent of propheting the future in his sleep, which he records on his camera. Believing that the photograph of Nana being bound on the floor is guaranteed to happen, he proceeds to tackle her on the ground and have her for himself... It's attempted however, since Nana immediately stuck him with a poisoned needle at his vulnerable moment.
  • Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest:
    • Occurs several times to Akiko Aoshika. Then we learn that she was raped in her Dark and Troubled Past. And then she gets gangraped by Haguro and his Yakuza goons.
    • Kuroda takes a break from blowing up stuff (and students) to try to rape Noriko, the local Meganekko, with his gun. Fortunately, Inugami interrupts him.
  • Attempted twice in Yuureitou:
    • When in the Ghost Tower by herself Satoko is almost raped by two men. She is saved by Amano and Yamashina.
    • Marube tries to rape Taichi late in the manga so that he will leave and allow Tetsuo and him to get a brain transplant.
