The starting point of the Weiss Schwarz Card Game.
This work contains examples of:
- Alternate Universe: The Weiss Schwarz world of battles.
- Battle Aura: It depends on the power and experience of the player, which also powers up their cards (ex: Takeshi at the start of the story, had weak cards of 500 power while Michi, being experienced, has 3000 power). Lampshaded by the old man.Old man: In this dimension, the aura of the owner of the cards will change to become the "Ether State" and in turn, materialize through the use of the "theory of microbits".
Takeshi: H-hey... Erm... This isn't the time to explain these... - Battle Butler: Joe.
- Dirty Old Man: Who really steals the show.
- Incompatible Orientation: Shizuru blatantly likes Michi, but Michi is implied to like Takeshi.
- Marshmallow Hell: Shizzle to the "Chosen One Takeshi"◊. Michi does not approve.
- Merchandise-Driven: The first season was basically an animated tutorial on how to play the card game. Also, the Persona set cameos twice in the first season, while the fate/stay night set cameos in R.
- Nose Bleed: Takeshi and the old man together.
- Or Was It a Dream?: The end of season one. Season 2 confirms that it wasn't.
- Post-Script Season: Lampshaded when the old man explains that he was lonely after Michi and Takeshi left. They respond with how HE was the one to disappear into nothing, only for him to shoot back that it happened before there was any plans for a second season.
- Remember the New Guy?: Takeshi and Michi forgot about Shizuru, Takeshi's own foster sister, who's introduced in the second season. There's a reason for that.
- Retcon: Season 2 makes it so that season 1 wasn't a dream, but that Michi and Takeshi's memories of the card battle world were wiped, with the Chaos Sisters and the Old man returning [albeit in school uniform and as a humanoid bee, respectively]. Also, Takeshi has a foster sister, who reveals that Michi and Takeshi have actually been playing Weiss Schwarz since they were really little.
- The Reveal: Happens at the end of both seasons. In the first season, it was that Michi was the one who chose Takeshi as the chosen warrior, and that he must beat her in order for them both to leave the card battle world. Then in R, it's that Shizuru is the one behind the attacks, and that she is in fact not Shizuru, but Ruu-chan, Michi's childhood stuffed rabbit given human life.
