Go To

PJ Berri no Mogu Mogu Munya Munya was the second anime adaptation of the PaRappa the Rapper video game series, preceded by the 2001 anime. The anime premiered in 2016 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first game and the 15th anniversary of the first anime.

The series lasted 26 episodes and consisted of two-minute shorts involving PaRappa, PJ and the other characters.

This anime provides examples of:

  • Animation Bump: The first season was animated by Doga Kobo while the second season was animated by Oddjob, which explains why the characters move so smooth compared to the first season.
  • Birthday Episode: The tenth episode has PaRappa bummed that no one seems to remember his birthday, then find out that his friends have arranged a surprise party.
  • The Burlesque of Venus: The 18th episode features a faceless statue resembling The Birth of Venus.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: While Pinto, Paula and Matt return from the 2001 anime, Groober and Gaster do not.
  • Demoted to Extra:
    • Matt and Paula return from the first anime, but each of them only have a speaking part in one episode.
    • MC King Kong Mushi, Papa PaRappa and Pinto are reduced to silent cameos.
  • Truer to the Text: This anime notably uses characters who were left out from the previous anime, most notably Joe Chin and nearly every character who was introduced in the spinoff game Um Jammer Lammy.
