Goat Story - The Old Prague Legends is a 2008 Czech animated film. It is considered the most successful Czech animated movie ever.
A boy named Jemmy and his goat, Goat, travel to Prague where Jemmy falls in love with a girl named Katy, causing Goat to become jealous. Meanwhile, a young student named Matthew is harassed by bullies and decides to make a Deal with the Devil to get his revenge.
Goat Story - The Old Prague Legends includes examples of:
- A Dog Named "Dog": Goat is a goat.
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Goat hysterically asks Jemmy why he won't marry her after a few drinks.
- Civilized Animal: Goat eats cabbages and gets milked like a normal goat, but drinks alcohol and speaks like a human.
- Deal with the Devil: The poor student Matthew signs a contract with the Devil after bullies cause him to be publicly humiliated and blamed for something he didn't do.
- Disproportionate Retribution:
- After Matthew tells the mayor that Master Hanish might build a clock for someone else, the mayor decides the best course of action is to have Hanish's eyes cut out.
- When the clock tower stops working after Master Hanish sabotages it, Katy is blamed and sentenced to death by hanging.
- Eye Scream: The mayor has Master Hanish's eyes cut out so that he can't build any more clocks.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Goat dresses as Katy and allows herself to be hung in Katy's place. She gets better, though.
- Impossible Hourglass Figure: Katy has one of these.
- Interrupted Intimacy: Goat walks in on Jemmy and Katy in bed together and is heartbroken.
- Kangaroo Court: When Katy is accused of sabotaging the clock, she is immediately sentenced to death by hanging unless Jemmy can fix it, just because she happened to be in the clock tower.
- Love at First Sight: Jemmy immediately falls for Katy when she offers him nails while he is working on the bridge.
- She's a Man in Japan: Averted, the Goat is female yet speaks with a male voice, the English dub gives her a female voice yet the sequel dub has a different male actor.
- Shoot the Builder: Downplayed. After the mayor finds out that Master Hanish is making plans to build another clock for someone else, he has Master Hanish's eyes cut out so that he can't build any more clocks.
- Skeletal Musician: A bearded skeleton plays the organ.
- Victoria's Secret Compartment: Katy hides multiple items in her cleavage, including nails, which she gives to Jemmy, and a cabbage, which she gives to Goat.
