Doggy Poo is an animated movie that originated from South Korea that is Exactly What It Says on the Tin, with the protagonist being a Talking Poo. This movie also follows the life cycle of... you guessed it, dog excrement and what it discovers of life. The Doggy Poo himself wants to know how important he is of life and what is his reason of being on the planet. And surprisingly, despite being about dog poop, it is actually not Played for Laughs.

Tropes:

  • Affectionate Nickname: The leaf refers to Doggy Poo as "baby" a few times.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: During the film, the soil mentions God, as if he believes he exists. However, later on, it is shown that he believes that once you die, you simply cease to exist any longer, which seems to mean he doesn't believe in any kind of an afterlife, despite how much the idea is tied to the existence of God.
  • Artistic License – Botany: Dog poop can't be used as fertilizer, contrary to what this short shows.
  • Bathos: How else to describe a film that espouses the heartwarming message of everyone and everything having a special place in the world, and applying it to a sentient lump of dog shit?
  • Canine Confusion: Towards the end, the titular living dog turd is used as fertilizer for a dandelion so she can bloom, but in real life, dog feces cannot be used as fertilizer because dogs are carnivorous.
  • Clueless Aesop: The film attempts to convey the message that even literal dog shit can be useful and that no one or nothing is truly useless, a message that is good on the surface, though it is also quite a deep one. The aforementioned dog shit is used to fertilize dandelions in the end. However, due to the film's lack of understanding of the subject matter, it falls apart rather quickly. First of all, dog shit can't be used as fertilizer as the film says. Even if it could be used for that, the fact that it is being used to fertilize dandelions would not be considered a good thing since dandelions are weeds that are extremely annoying for farmers.
  • Crossdressing Voices: The Doggy Poo was voiced by Fiona Stuart.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: All the Doggy Poo wants is just to find a way to contribute to life. He eventually finds one when he becomes fertilizer for a dandelion.
  • The Dog Bites Back: The Doggy Poo calls out the soil for making fun of him, and calls him "ugly and mean".
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: The movie's title is "Doggy Poo". No guessing as to what's it about there....
  • Kick the Dog: The bird that the poo meets in the beginning calls him "disgusting", and a patch of soil he also meets tells him that he is the worst kind of excrement ever.
  • Talking Poo: The main character is a talking, living dog turd.
  • Toilet Humour: Surprisingly averted. The main protagonist is a sentient piece of fecal matter, but it's never played for laughs.
  • Walking Spoiler: Albeit one that can't actually walk, the dandelion which Doggy Poop fertilizes; she comes into existence through Doggy Poo fulfilling his life purpose.
