Anguished Declarations of Love in Visual Novels.
- Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair has Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu make one to his childhood friend Peko Pekoyama shortly before she gets executed. Because of the power dynamics complicating the nature of their friendship, Peko sees herself as a tool whose only purpose is to be an expendable hitman for Fuyuhiko. On the other hand, Fuyuhiko most certainly does not feel the same and, in fact, hates that Peko sees herself as such:Fuyuhiko: I... I never wanted a tool! I just wanted you! Only you!
- Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony:
- During the fifth trial, Defrosting Ice Queen Maki admits that she has indeed fallen in love with Kaito and tearfully begs him not to die.
- Played for Laughs with Miu Iruma in her fourth Free Time Event. Shuichi, having barely managed to stop Miu from cutting herself open in an attempt to prove that she is an augmented human, goes to check on her afterward. At this point, Miu tries really hard to deny that she has fallen in love with Shuichi (despite... blatant signs suggesting otherwise), but she confesses to him anyway.
- In Doki Doki Literature Club!, a severely depressed Sayori gives one to the player character, and he could reciprocate her feelings with one of his own.Sayori: (tearfully) I like you so much that I want to die! That's how I feel! And... and...

- Happens during Lilly's route of Katawa Shoujo shortly after Hisao has a heart flutter.Hisao: "I'm sorry, Lilly. I know my body's weak, but even then I make the most stupid of mistakes."
Lilly: "Don't apologize... please don't apologize..."
Hisao: "Lilly...?"
Lilly: "I love you, Hisao. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you! Don't go away, I beg of you. Never, ever go away. I love you, so please...!"- Subverted during Shizune's route. After Hisao "comforts" Misha or not, he meets her on the roof, where she dejectedly confesses her love...for Shizune.
- Little Busters!: Riki does this to Mio when he suddenly realises that he loves her right before she disappears and lets Midori take her place. She doesn't believe him, claiming that he only feels pity for her. When he manages to get her back later, she accepts.
- Facing his impending death, Kudou declares that he's always loved Misao and pleads for her to at least recognize his feelings. Her spirit appears before him, but only to declare she never felt the same way.
- Sunrider Liberation Day: After almost losing him during the Liberation Day massacre, the normally stoic and aloof Ava Crescentia struggles to hold back tears as she admits that she lied to Kayto when she previously told him that she didn’t remember their high school promise to sail the stars together. She’d never forgotten it, but her duty and obligations kept her from admitting how she truly felt. Now she admits that she should have been more honest with herself and with him, and while she doesn’t outright say that she loves him he recognizes her intent. Kayto doesn’t get much of a chance to respond, however, as the rest of the crew butts in with their own Love Confessions.
- In Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1, Shiki Mihara's confession is like this, especially if the heroine tries to say she's not good enough for him.
