  • MultiVersus, eh? Warner Bros. cashing in on Smash sounds like a risky gamble (even with Ultra Instinct Shaggy being made canon, Zoinks!)...Hey, wait a minute, the developers planned on an alpha testing session? This may not be a complete bust after all!
  • Several of the characters for the game's eventual launch are voiced and reprised by people that are known for either being heavily associated with them or one of their previous portrayers, including Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Eric Bauza as Bugs Bunny, Maisie Williams as Arya, George Newbern as Superman, Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, Jeremy Shada as Finn, John DiMaggio as Jake, and even Estelle as Garnet. As if that wasn't enough, the reins of Wonder Woman have been taken up by none other than Abby Trott!
  • Microtransactions being confirmed as one of the game's features made it seem like it would be a bog-standard pay-to-win game, until it was confirmed that it would be solely for cosmetics. Every character, as well as perks, some skins and items, can be unlocked just by playing the game.
  • Jinkies! Velma, Taz, and the Iron Giant have joined the battle.
  • After the closed alpha and beta testing sessions kept leaving the players craving for more, the confirmation of an open beta soft-launch going live on July 26, 2022 was a cause for celebration.
  • LeBron James himself has joined the game! What's more, the first season will be kicked off with Rick and Morty, of all people.
  • After an unfortunate delay from its initial August 9 release date, Season 1 was confirmed to finally launch on August 15, with Morty releasing on August 23 during the Battle Pass' second week.
  • The launch of Season 1 came with surprise stealth reveals in the game's splash artwork, for a pair of characters planned for releasing later on: Black Adam and the infamous gremlin Stripe!
  • Worried about the likelihood of a roster number limit? Don't be, because the game's director Tony Huynh revealed in an interview with Level 857 that there isn't one, so the staff will keep adding characters if the fans ask for them, for as long as possible.
  • Long after Stripe was revealed at the start of Season 1, it was announced on September 1st, 2022, that Gizmo would finally join the game and not be sidelined by his nemesis.
  • Good news: Rick is the next playable character after Gizmo. Better news: he finally gets released on September 27, 2022!
  • Stripe's release on October 12, 2022 came with some nice treats for the Halloween season, namely the addition of a new standalone NPC announcer voice pack for Lady Rainicorn (reprised by Niki Yang herself), and skins for the Black Lantern forms of Superman and Wonder Woman.
  • An announcement on October 25, 2022 confirmed that Black Adam would arrive alongside the long-awaited Arcade Mode. Both were later planned to release on October 31, just in time for Halloween!
  • The last but not the least of Season 1's additions is an alpha build of the highly anticipated Ranked mode, which arrived on November 8, 2022, with the expectation of the full mode arriving at a later date.
  • Season 2 has begun on November 15, 2022! Alongside a new battle pass with no empty tiers this time, the shop is now available so buying items and variants is easier. Additionally, Marvin the Martian has been announced as the first character of the season! Time to claim this planet in the name of Mars!
  • After an extended testing period, the Space Jam Court map got finally added to all 1v1 and 2v2 modes on December 6th, allowing all players to use it outside of Custom Matches.
  • The December 14th update featured the highly-anticipated Winter holiday event and Throne Room map, but it also came with an extra surprise. What is it, you may ask? Tell them The Man in Black was sent in as a new skin.
  • The 1.17 patch on December 19th brought in Spectator Mode, allowing many players to witness Custom Matches.
  • The ValentiNeon event on February 14th, 2023 has brought its fair share of goodies during the Valentine's Day celebration, namely acquiring Battle Pass boost rewards with Candy Hearts, items that let you drive the Mystery Machine and Batmobile in Free-For-All, and the finalized permanent addition of Ranked.
  • For the forthcoming NBA All-Star 2023 event on February 17-19, a Tune Squad: Then and Now bundle was offered, as well as the addition of Tune Squad skins for Marvin, properly allowing him to be a part of the basketball action at long last.
  • After many months of waiting, it's been confirmed on March 11th that MultiVersus will return on May 28th, boasting many new features like updated graphics in Unreal Engine 5, new stages based on The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory, an updated netcode, and a new PVE mode.
